How Do You Take Subutex? Swallow Or Put Under Tongue To Dissolve? (Page 7)

I have a friend who takes suboxone & recently got a subutex given to him. I take suboxone myself but ive never heard of subutex until couple days ago. I would like to know how is subutex supposed to be taken? Under your tongue or do u swallow it? I am worried about my friend & i have searched every site possible on information on subutex but none of these sites say how it is suppose to be taken. what are the side effects of subutex? why do doctors give pregnant women subutex & not suboxone during pregnancy? i need to know any & all information on subutex. i have hidden the pill from my friend until i can try 2 find some information on it & he has been sick but i dont want anything bad to happen to him.also is subutex a small white round pill with number 8 on one side & an arrow on the other & does it come in any other forms or colors etc.? I'm desperate for answers!!!!!

You most definitely put in under your tongue. Let it diddolve (takes about 5 min per pill) if you swallow it the digestive acids will destroy most of the med. Also, by taking it sublingual (under your tongue) you will get the medicine faster. Using the salivary glands to transport it into your blood stream faster. Your mouth will have a funny taste but it will go away soon after. Don't flush your mouth with water either. Just grin and bear it! Good luck!

I just got put on subutex and I think that's why it's not quite working for me!! the taste is so horrible that I fish my mouth with water to lessen the taste and to dissolve it faster. guess I'll have to try to grin and bare it! haha, Thnx for the much needed info.

Seriously ur a 22 yr old who doesn't take responsibility for bad choices..who don't work bc u say ur so called disease is ur full time Job...I've been physiologically addicted to narcotics and benzos but I got off off both..even had 3 seizures while doing so but you put ur own self into dis-ease.. which means not at ease - not biological like the real deal, so get off ur ass and quit

Ok so i have been on subutex for 3 months now and i am trying to figure out how it works best for me, i usually swallow after about 15-20 mins but it just doesnt seem to do as i want it too. My husband takes suboxone an is like high all the time but i dont want to feel like that but i want energy an im not getting it and im feeling depressed alot, aggitated ALOT!!! But what im wondering is should i try spitting it out and how long should i keep it in my mouth before spitting out? I know i will NEVER feel like i did when i took methodone but i just NOOOOO energy anymore so can someone help me here????

Yes there are other forms of suboxone or subutex, if u google different types of subutex or suboxone it will show u the pics. There's film strips that u put in your mouth (hate those ones) or there's a new one out that's actually a patch that releases it in doses through your skin (never tried those.) There are plenty of different kinds but supposed to give the same outcome. It's NOT safe to be taking suboxone while pregnant, however it is completely safe to take subutex while pregnant. As a matter of fact the doctors will actually switch u to subutex if u are taking suboxone because it is safe. I have had 2 very healthy babies taking subutex my whole pregnancy and my kids are now 4 and 5 years old with zero problems, health wise or mentally. I'm giving u as much info about buprenorphine that I can think of... if your friend is without his meds, yes he will withdrawal and it's probably best u give him his meds..withdrawal sucks d*** and I don't wish it upon anyone!

Subutex is sublingual (taken under the tongue ). Subutex is recommended to pregnant women because it dose not contain Naloxone, like suboxone does. This reduces the chances of (nas) in infants when they are born.

Subutex is a great med. Put it under your tongue till it's all gone. He will be ok, just take it like the doc said to ok.

I am a recovering drug addict. I was addicted to opiates and to be completely honest with you, getting off one drug and replacing it with another is not the answer. The only real way to get clean from drugs is to just cold turkey it; meaning withdrawal without anything to help the withdraws is the only true way to get clean and free from addiction. I have been clean for almost a year and have been around people who think subutex and suboxone is the answer to getting off opiates but really it's just a substitute for the opiates. So back to the question that u asked, the only real way to get clean is just balling up in your bed for 4, 5, 6, or even 7 days and just going through the withdrawals without any other drugs. That is the answer. Good luck and never give up.

Amen!!!! If it was that easy for that one person doging the way they were, then they were never a true addict. Because the disease is not easy to manage. And that's all we can ever do is manage it. There is no cure to date. It is for life, and the minute you forget that you will be sucked in even worse than before. Don't let anyone like that ever get to you. You are worth something, you are loved, and you know what, together is the best cure i can think of. I've learned when we are with eachotherin the good and the bad, through the mistakes, we can survive. Love all of you, and I'm not better than anyone, BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER, NOONE IS BETTER THAN YOU!!!!

I get Subutex daily and have been told by medical staff that if you swallow them whole you only get 20% efficacy. The proper way is to dissolve under the tongue just like with Clonazepam.

Then you lose it into your teeth from accidental swallow/movement. Terrible advice for a maintenance patient.

That sounds like a suboxen pill.. I know my subutex is a peach color and it dissolves underneath my tounge. It takes forever to dissolve though. I have heard of white subutex pills , the differene between the 2 is that suboxen has nalone which is a known opioid blocker when subutex does not, I find the withdrawal from subutex is nowhere near as bad as suboxen. I would choose subutex any day over suboxen. Good luck

Bupernorphine (Subutex) is also a very good opiate blocker on it's own. It binds itself to the Gaba receptors that opiates target. The only reason that doctor's will prescribe Subutex instead of Suboxone is if your pregnant or if your body doesn't react well with the nalaxone. It doesn't give you any kind of euphoria and will still block narcotic pain relievers from giving you a euphoric feeling or fix. The main concern is that Subutex is easier to administer intravenously and also once a recovering addict uses a needle to administer a medication against the delivery method that's on the label from your pharmacy then you need to seek help because whatever your justifications may be, the fact is you are back in active addiction.

So wrong. Naloxone has a very short half life. Buprenorphine also has a far greater affinity for the mu-opioid receptors, hence the reason Naloxone does not reverse a Buprenorphine/Subutex/Suboxone overdose but will reverse opioids. Also if a methadone overdose is reversed with Naloxone, after 30 mins the patient can go back into overdose without having taken any more methadone because the Naloxone will wear off but the methadone won't have yet because it has a very long half life, but Naloxone's half life is well under 30 mins! Naloxone is the opioid antagonist with a long half life but has even less affinity for the receptors than buprenorphine. Terribly incorrect information throughout and equally bad spelling.

Tried Suboxone 8 mg film it helped all my pain and gave me energy. Clinic gave me Zubsolv Buprenorphine 8.6/naloxone 2.1. In 45 min. I got overdose symptoms. Sick delirium for 3 days. Why was there such a huge difference? I never went back.

Some people have jobs we can't just quit for a week, or employers who wouldn't understand. Subutex saved my life. Weaned off it for a year and now I'm off and clean and happy. Some people can't do cold turkey. Just because it worked for your mild addiction doesn't mean my 10 year opioid habit will be cured by cuddling a stuffed animal in bed for 4 days dude.
