How To Snort The New Formula Opana Er (Page 8)

Updated

I became a pain patient after I fell off a horse in March of last year and sustained spinal injuries which are still VERY painful. Opana ER was the first thing doctors gave me that helped at all and now that they have changed the formula I'm in a lot more pain. I want to break down the formula so I can insufflate it, as I am told I may get more pain relief and increase bioavailability of the drug. The new formula hardly offers the same pain relief, Please help me!

I agree with you completly. I finally found something that worked for my father after a lot of research and time then they change what works. He has a book of medical conditions (not good ones either) wrong. I hate seeing him in this much pain and miserable. I know his Stomach Acids arn't strong enough to breakdown this new formula. He takes the perscribed if not, the bare minimum. He used to go places with my sister and I, since this new formula he hasn't got out at all. This new pill is taking from our family time.

I thank those of you that answered about the Opana ER. I have found two other Pain Management practices in the area that I live. I have tried only once to get them on the phone, but I am ready to let them make suggestions that havent already been done.

Thank you so much Just Trying To Help. I followed your instructions to a T (w coating on) and felt like I use to feel with the old Opanas. I have chronic scoliosis that cannot be corrected by surgery and use to receive so much help with my pain regimen when they started me on the old Opana combined with oxycodone 15 mg for breakthrough pain. This always helped my pain so much until they changed the formula. I tried to talk with my PM doc about it and his answer was to include Celebrex in my regimen which did nothing for my pain except make me break out in a rash and feel nauseous. He would not even up me to the 40 mg Opana. So I was pretty much defeated until I read your post and tried it and received pain control right away, just like I did b4 they forced the new ones on us. My docs answer was "they are the same pill" so I should still be getting pain relief from the new version which I was not, but chose not to argue with him because the feeling I got was that he looked at me as a drug seeker which infuriated me, because I know my body and I know whether I am receiving help from something or not. So thanks to you, I am back getting pain relief from this new version and feel much better. Again thank you so much "Just Trying To Help. Because that is what you did. Help me!!! Next time I will rinse coating off. Did not know b4.

Pinkwhatever, go somewhere else, people on this site need real help and what you wrote is disgusting and should be ignored and from here on out you do not exist. I'm sure if you google heroin you can talk about your "real" drugs with people of your quality and I use the term loosely.

Suboxone is excellent for getting off narcotics... You can find docs that run suboxone clinics in most towns. I highly recommend this... There is no reason to suffer from withdrawals... Good luck!

Extended and immediate release morphine is also cheap... It is also safer, better working, and less addictive than Methadone. It costs only a slight bit more than methadone, but is worth it... I tried both when I was uninsured. My pain doc even said that methadone was dangerous, as it's half-life is more than 24 hours, and accumulates in your system. It also binds to any fat cells you create, and will release when your body needs to use them. Short story is that you can overdose without even trying to...

I am starting to have some severe gastro-intestinal problems with the new Opana ER formulation. Another thing is they don't seem to work as well. My regular doctor thinks the chemicals(plastics) in the new formulation may be causing an immune system response. Also, I may have a blockage in my intestines based on the symptoms I am having. I'm supposed to see a GI doctor to have a colonoscopy, but don't think I can wait to see them. Laxatives won't even clear out my system. I have lost 20 pounds in last 7 to 8 weeks, and have extreme lower GI pain. Am concerned! :-( Has anyone else had similar problems after the Opana formulation change? Such as immune system problems or increased constipation or a blockage in intestines???

Legit Opiate Addict (gosh I hope not!) I have never used Methadone and won't for exactly the reasons you listed, very well stated, also many become morbidly obese from Methadone. I have had incredible success with IR Morphine and you are correct, easy to get and affordable due to generics. Nice post.

Not from Opana but I too have severe GI problems, as a result has to change to either liquid formulas or suppositories, Morphine is much better for GI problems my PM doc finds Opana to be more of a risk than a benefit to patients, he's so good and really cares and hates the costly drugs and tries everything else first unless that's really is all that works from you. Opiates can cause a type of anorexia and impactions, try to take Miralax, but not like they say, take a dose every 2 hours and then 2-4 Dulcolax and if you are going to avoid having the stool manually removed and if you can do, it's not so much fun and a bit humiliating. Been there and this is the best way to avoid it and your tell should be terrible cramps or pain in your lower abdomen b/c you are profoundly constipated. Basically my GI says you want to go for a bowel cleanse, just short of what you'd do for a colonoscopy. I hope this helps you, it does take time but if you do every 2 hours I bet you will get some relief by tomorrow afternoon - don't wait, been through the other and wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with it either.

To New Opana Side Effects, read post #140 from fredsmom, looks a lot like your issues, particularly with the weight. Maybe she can help you out, just read and thought it sounded like your issues. Again, good luck.

To Fredsmom: You may want to get a new PM doc... Having same problems with Opana ER... Also, Flexeril is a crappy muscle relaxing drug.. The side effects can make you extremely drowsy.. also it is NOT a skeletal muscle relaxant...look it up, it only modifies your perception to pain...try something else for that! And get off the Opana... I am having mine changed tomorrow to either Oxycontin or most likely Morphine ER. Have taken both before, and they are excellent pain meds. The Morphine ER has the least side effects of any meds I've taken before...don't know why I ever let them take me off of it....good luck to you! Also, try drinking some protein drinks, as you can't afford to loose the muscle mass...believe me, cause I have! Any other comments or feedback to this post is welcome and appreciated....we all need to help each other!!!

To Fredsmom: I forgot to mention that you may want to change from the Neurontin to Cymbalta for neuropathic pain, unless it works for you. I started the Cymbalta for depression 6 years ago, and noticed some relief. The doc said that it was being used off label for that purpose. Since then Cymbalta has been FDA approved for Neuropathic Pain... Just a thought, but it helped me quite a bit, and was able to lower my Pain med dosage and PRN usage.

Does anyone know if the Oxymorphone(Opana IR) meds are available as a generic? Can't remember the strengths... And how much they cost?

Dear New Opana Side Effects. Who are you to be giving medical advise? Do you think you are smarter or know more than their doctors? I think you should just let the professionals handle it, and not try to meddle in this poor woman's health. You don't know if those meds are appropriate for her situation. Everyone is different.

Dear "Someone Who Cares": Honestly, it's really none of your business what I suggest to others about their medical conditions!
If you bother to READ the posts, you will see that i'm not telling her what to do, but making suggestions and offering advise. Again if you READ the posts, you will see that I use phrases like "may want to", "try", "you may want to change", "unless it works for you", "Just a thought", "try something else", etc, etc, etc... "get off the Opana" is the only thing I didn't preface with a "may want to" or "might want to consider"...So I guess i'm guilty of caring too much... shame on me! When I said "Any other comments or feedback to this post is welcome and appreciated", I didn't mean for you to verbally attack me! People are here to learn, search for answers, and help others with their experiences. You belong, and not "may", somewhere else. Somewhere where people don't mind rude and intrusive people! By the way, I don't think i'm smarter than their doctors, and I might not be smarter than you(doubtful), but I definitely have more compassion and class than you!

Give the people here some credit, i'm sure their smart enough to not just blindly follow someones advice from a posting on the internet, like you assume they would. I'm not writing orders or scripts for them, their doctors are... and i'm sure if told that some stranger said I should be taking this, that they wouldn't just do it. Your right, everyone is different; and come to think of it, YOUR A COMPLETE MORON!
My appologies to anyone who read this post, I hate to waste peoples time...

Enough said!

Lynne, my friend... Thanks for the advise, as it really worked well! I feel so much better, and about 10 pounds lighter! *wink* Actually, I probably am!

My name is Brien, and i'm from the country...I mean state of TEXAS. *grin* I live in San Antonio.
Again Lynne, thanks for the response... it saved me a trip to the emergency room, and i'm not exagerating!
Your newest fan,
Brien
