How To Snort The New Formula Opana Er (Page 4)

I became a pain patient after I fell off a horse in March of last year and sustained spinal injuries which are still VERY painful. Opana ER was the first thing doctors gave me that helped at all and now that they have changed the formula I'm in a lot more pain. I want to break down the formula so I can insufflate it, as I am told I may get more pain relief and increase bioavailability of the drug. The new formula hardly offers the same pain relief, Please help me!

Same problem here, the gel doesn't come out of the tip unless i turn it upside down, and even then I'm apprehensive to put something so viscous up my nose.

Jonson, I read over your post and I want you to know that you and your girlfriend both are in my thoughts and prayers. The more that I read about this subject, the more disturbed that I become. What does Endo and the FDA think that they are doing??? First of all, they never once informed us, the patients of the truth of their clinical trials and I had forgotten to mention this on here, but when it came out in the very beginning, Endo did warn the doctors and nurses that in the clinical trials when insulfated (snorted) that the effects were that of heroine and the withdrawal was very similar to that of heroine....I don't know about any of you, but that wasn't printed in my little leaflet when I picked it up at the pharmacy! And there was no warning??? This information was only given to the doctors and nurses....not the patients. It was in the PDR, but not for the patients and public in general to read. And do you all realize that the FDA had this information in front of them to read and they approved it??? I do realize that it was my decision to snort this medication which resulted in an addiction to it BUT the oral bio-availability of this medication orally (by mouth) is only 10% and when insulfated (snorted) it increases to 60%. The FDA knew that this was going to happen, so why the change? There has to be something going on behind closed doors. Some of the politicians have stock in these Pharmaceutical companies. I know that many of you reading this are having a hard time from sickness and pain, but I hope and pray that Endo will have to answer for this because this kind of thing really needs to stop.
Another thing is this: there is plastic in it, Polyethylene Oxide which is plastic. Long term use is bound to cause cancer. And whoever approved this within the FDA should have to answer for this, it's ridiculous. But the FDA and Endo Pharmaceutical KNOW that everyone is dealing with severe pain along with being sick from withdrawal, but Endo made a ton of money off of it, didn't they? Endo knows that rigtht now, everyone that has been on this medication, whether taken orally or snorted, isn't thinking about what has been done to them at all, everyone is just trying to figure out how to get this plastic, toxic pill to give them some pain relief and relief from sickness. It really upsets me. I want to try to figure out a way to find out how much $$$$ Endo made off of Opana and I also want to find out why the change when the FDA KNEW that this was going to happen? Because of the bio-availability, people were bound to try to figure out a way for the Opana to work. After all, how much money is it that we, the patients had to fork out for it???
When the smoke clears and everyone has found a better medication or whatever it is that one of these criminals...oops, I mean Pharmaceuticals companies come up with next, I truly hope that everyone will come together and stand up to them and demand to know what and why. Honestly, they shouldn't be allowed to just get away with this.

i just cut up a half of the new opana er ( e 40) did what allisha said. and plugged it. following her instructions to the t. but probably not goign as far up as i should. its been 10 minutes dont feel anything yet. i prob could have used more water but im guessing it will just take longer to dissovlve hopefuly. i hope i feel somehting off of this. ill let everyone know if i feel it. thank you

Help! not only did dr drop me from 60mg opana a day to 2 10mg a day. These are plastic. I usually snort them because they work better and faster. Im bed ridden woth severe pain and my dr is a dick. These just dont work no mater if u grind and snort or swallow them. They work just as good to relirve my pain as throwing em in the toilet! what do i do. This is the only pain med i can take that done make me sick and get a rash. Wtf! Are pain patients to do? sick of withdrawls. Now gonna run out cause i had to take so many. Hurt so bad hadnt slept for days, i had to get sleep. Now im screwed!

FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS READ MY INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE NEW OPANA'S, DON'T DO IT!! This method works, but I needed more and more and more to maintain the same results as in the beginning. Honestly, I am shocked at how quickly I gained a tolerance to the amount that I was using!! Plus, I am sick now....I mean really, really sick and the only thing that is helping me is a little bit of Xanax that I have and I am thankful for them or I would be in worse shape. I have gone through withdrawal before from Percocet and this withdrawal doesn't even compare to it. I am in a ton of pain, but I would rather just suffer for a while rather than become so reliant on it. I have to go because I am so sick. I have to let you all know that I'm sorry for ever sharing what I shared about the method that I found that used....it isn't worth this sickness.

Alisha, I am so sorry that you r going through this. Im in pain n withdrawing as well. This is just disgusting what they did to us n no one cares. Im sure my Dr is going to think that im just a junkie trying to get high. I honestly was swallowing them n taking the amount prescribed when Endo went and screwed us all. Ive been desperate for any relief possible. Im not going to shoot them although i would snort them if I could break them down. Since i cant ive been soaking them n a little coke overnight, putting that disgusting glob in an oral Sybrina ge n plugging it. I cant believe im doing that but im desperate. I get no pain relief but it eases the WDs. Im out now n have over a week b4 my next apt so Im deathly ill n in pain. My mom has xanax but i cant take them cause if Doc test me hell drop me. I am overwhelmed. And these damn things made me so nervous n irritable and worst of all they gave me a feeling of impending doom. I am to the point of just living in pain. Its just to much BS to put up with. I just dont understand in this day and age we have to suffer like this. I have no Quality of Life and it makes me want to I dont know what I want to do. Im a Maw Maw n i keep him full time. Its such a shame that i cant enjoy my baby r do anything fun with him cause of this crap. It just makes me so sad.

Donna, I just want to encourage you to hang in there. This is awful, it really is, but it will pass....I have got to believe this and it has to. I don't know about you, but I'm done with Opana completely and I know what you mean about being out until next appt. with doctor. I just can't get the thought out of my mind that this s*** isn't worth it. Yes, I do have legit. pain, but this sickness is overwhelming the pain. I just want to be off of these things. They can put me on something different. The good thing about being out is this: I can start a new medication and not have this HORRIBLY high tolerance that nothing will help. Now that they have changed the Opana, I havent' had any quality of life period. Between trying to figure out how to get it to work and then the whole plugging thing, not to mention the even higher tolerance that I got from plugging, this has caused more than pain ever has. I am keeping in mind that no matter what, I am off of them. They helped me before, but I refuse to ever go through this again. Endo can keep their new ones and I am not gonna do something so stupid as to go to another doctor and get kicked out of my pain program. This whole new Opana thing has made me re-think it all.
Hang in there Donna, I am doing the best I can to keep thinking about when I will be better and that I will NEVER go through this again.

Alisha I feel.the exact same way. Im.done with these damn things. And u r right nothing comes close to the damn things. I was shocked how much worst the WDs were from.opana than oxy. Oxy WDs r awful.too but nothing compares to the damn opana.
ive decided Im going to just get on Oxy 80s n lortabs for by. The lortabs dont really Help but i dont want roxicodone cause thats to much temptation to abuse. With the oxy 80s n lortabs they can only b swallowed, and even though the oxy r abuse proof n not near what they used to be they do still provide some relief. These New opanas do NOTHING for pain. And besides the WDS the other side effects r just horrible. I bet u in 3 to 5 years we r going to b hearing those commercials cause they r causing cancer n death. I hope Endo goes bankrupt.

Thank you all for your comments- I'm not quite ready to stop- just got new prescriptions again so will try again when they run out. Ugh- good and bad news I guess. FYI- the Oxymorphone 10mg IR (generic for the Opana IR) are crushable and, for reasons I don't quite understand, work as well as the Opana 10mg ER when shorted/chewed/etc. Also, cheaper. Often the doc will switch you to the IR when you are trying to cut back unless you are known for being to early to request refills and they want you on extended release. To the person going through withdrawls because you are a week early for your pain doc- go see them. Tell them the new Opana is not working and you started having withdrawls when taking the normal dose so had to take extra. If you are interested in getting off the Opana- the Fentanyl patch does work. You will have withdrawls if you are completely out of Opana while waiting for the patch to kick in- takes about 36 hours to start. But you will feel decent after that. It works best if you can have one day overlapping with the Opana and Fentanyl patch. It is also extended release but will not work quite as long as they say. I tried that and now wiosh I would've stuck with it instead of going back to Opana. But here I am again.

I have been taking opana ER 40 mg for about a year now and I do snort them. I don't really care what anyone here thinks about that I'm not here to argue. But for those of you who have the new formulation and want to snort it this is what you do: get a piece of VERY course sandpaper. I use 60 grade sandpaper. Now this will take some time but trust me it does work. Grind the pill against the sandpaper for as long as it takes to break out an adequate dose. It will take some time as these new pills are very hard. However, once you grind it down and snort it I must say, the new formulations are VERY strong. I still prefer the old pills cause they are just so much easier to crush but the new ones really are good when u can snort em. Hope this helps.

How r u able to get them ground down without getting sandpaper in them. And what do i ask for At the store? R there different kinds of sandpaper?

I agree with you! The suboxone is great for the withdrawl, but try to get a dr. to give you a script with your opanas to relieve the withdrawl when your out! lol But really they do work! The strips are much better than the tabs.

Yes the strips r better but I dont stay on the suboxone I use them for a week n a half r two to get through the WDs n then get off of them.

you will be better off getting a couple subs. If you cant get any more op's. The suboxone is great and gets me through every month! My Dr. wont give me anything till it's time! The subs actually help me from getting the anxious feeling and I dont get sick if I have those. Try to get the strips they work much better! GOOD LUCK.........

As I read through all of these posts, I am amazed at what people think Opana is, and does. I am sorry your situation has changed, and your going to be in severe WD's. But You must have known that you'd be paying the price for feeling good eventually. Opana, oxy, percocet, Methadone, etc are all basically the same thing to your brain. They can have different side effects on your body, but an opiate, is an opiate. They are all just like heroin as far as your brain is concerned. I am not judging anybody here. But you had to have known Opana would cause WD's if you stopped taking it. I think Endo, and the FDA are making a HUGE mistake in changing the pill design. It isn't going to keep people from needing and wanting opiates, heroin use will just keep increasing as safer alternatives are taken away. I just prey they leave the blue Roxys alone!
I can tell everybody on here, that wants their life back. that they really only have 1 choice. And that is Subutex. You will not find any pain relief, or pleasure from them. But you will feel "normal" suboxone is another brand of the same thing, but your going to have to dry out 1st. Or its going to be a few days until u reach normal.
You would be able to get the same feeling from lortabs, as Opana, if you took a lot of them. 1 Opana 40 is equal to about 20 lortabs 7.5s. So don't think there is any difference except the strength. But your still going to have the same WDs as Opana.
Anyone on here that wants their life back, and is SERIOUS, has 1 real option. The Subutex. And I would advise gettin on them, getting stable, and then cutting down over a few weeks. You do not need to take them for years, you can. But why? Your not going to have the energy of a normal person for many months. But eventually you'll be back to normal. If your serious, and not lying to yourself. Then you need to burn all your bridges. Tell your Dr the truth, so he'll never give you another script, delete any friends who could hook u up from your phone. And get going.
Certain Dr's can prescribe subutex. And there are recovery houses that'll sell it to u. But they are a pain in the a**, you have to go in every morning. But a Dr can prescribe you a month supply at a time. Your insurance will even pay the Dr, and pharmacy bills.
It your in legit pain, and eat the pills, but don't like the new Opana, your Dr can try some other alternatives like diluded, or fentynal. But any addicts, like myself, that want their life back. Need to look no future than subutex. It will solve the WD problem, and get you by until your body gets use to life without opiates.
Just for the record, I have been on opiates for over 15 years. I have taken every kind extensively. And know the reality of this life. And subutex is a miracle drug! Many people compare it to methadone, and its not even the same sport. MD is just another synthetic opiate. Only its been designed to last 24 hours. Which is why it has the worst withdrawles. They last months, not weeks. And are very severe. And xanax, and other benzo's may make the WDs a little more tolerable, but just bearly. and can have worse WDs. So its not worth messing with them.
PLEASE! IF YOU SERIOUSLY WANT YOUR LIFE BACK, IGNORE ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW S***, AND GET A PRESCRIPTION FOR SUBUTEX!

Speaking of the patent .September 2012 Watson will be coming out with the old formula opana's.So we do have something to look forward to then.They are not allowed to have the new formula!!! If we could all hang in there with these sh***y new opana's for a couple months things may go back to normal in September!!!!!!!

First off I hear alot of people have been taking Opana for pain. What is the pain everyone is having? Back pain? Leg pain? RSD Pain? There is many other medications that work well for them sort of pains also. I have never been prescribed OPANA and i know that a lot of insurance companys make you pay alot for them. What is not covered by them. It is a rediculous amount of money. If they work then i can see paying it. But now that they have changed the pills so that you do not get the same relief I would try to change to another type of medication and let OPANA go down the hole. Maybe they will come back to the way they use to be just like when Netflix raised their price everyone stopped paying for it. Then they lowered their price and are begging people to come back. Just my opinion. I have never been prescribed OPANA but definitly have tried it. It worked very well for my RSD and i did find that snorting them worked a heck of alot better and longer. My doctor prescribes me 100mcg of Fentanyl patches. 2 patch every 72 hours. You want to talk about WITHDRAWL when you run out. Try running out of Fentanyl. Awful legs bouncing, diareahea etc. I would not wish that on my worse friend. I would try to get your doctor to put you on the Fentanyl patch . It works very well for pain. The only reason i run out monthly is because i get 10 patches for 30 days and change one every 3 days. But in the summer if you sweat. go swimming or it just does not stick you do not get the full effect and you will get withdrawls. I should ask for an extra 2 patches a month but afraid to because he said he would not up my medication. I might have no choice but to talk with him my next appointment cause of the sticking problems i have been having with these patches. They do work well and you also will get percocet or something for the break through pain. It took me a long time to decide to go witht he patch but now i am glad i did. Good luck to everyone out there now suffering with the new OPana's. Speak up so your doctor knows how awful they have become for you.

SWIM got ahold of these new opana 40 er's. I did exactly what was said... and I can say that it is true that this works! A lot better than waiting around 6 hours to feel just a little bit... Just empty all but a little bit of the Afrin left in the bottle, mix a warm or hot tbsp of water, and cut up as many small pieces of the opana and let sit for 30-40 mins.. (i shook the bottle a little here and there to make it mix up) and THERE YA GO! I sprayed 3-5 times and got an almost immediate relief of my chronic pain.. I mean it was alotttt better than taken it orally... I opened the bottle to see how it all looked, and i could see the solution had become quite sticky but still "liquidy" enough to spray some out.. And the best part is, that i still have A LOT left. Just posting to let you guys know that I experimented with the "recipe." Check it out for yourselfs and let me know how it did for you too. I almost tried the way Alisha said, but seemed really drawn out and I was around too many people to be doing something like that as long as it woulda taken, to be in the bathroom lol. maybe ill try that later tonight with the other one I got... GOOD LUCK
