I became a pain patient after I fell off a horse in March of last year and sustained spinal injuries which are still VERY painful. Opana ER was the first thing doctors gave me that helped at all and now that they have changed the formula I'm in a lot more pain. I want to break down the formula so I can insufflate it, as I am told I may get more pain relief and increase bioavailability of the drug. The new formula hardly offers the same pain relief, Please help me!

Hello,everyone the answer to the original question how do you fix the new opana er so you can snort them is a simple question to answer but let me first tell my story before I decide to give the answer or not?I first started by taking lortab 10 after a car accident in 98.I stayed on the lortab 10 until I was sent to a pain clinic,which put me on Roxiecodone.You know how it is the more you take the more you need!Then once I started to snort the roxy's I never went back to swallowing them.My father who is disabled and is in pain all the time got Lortab and Opana er 5mg stop sign shaped pills that I had never heard of.First I looked them up online to find out that they were once outlawed in the USA back in the 70's because people were shooting them and dying so I knew they were probly pretty strong!The first one I took was a 5mg from daddy,that I of course crushed it up like I did the roxi and it knocked my damn socks off!Strong Strong stuff that I fell in love with off the bat!The next time I went to my doctor I asked if I could get a Long acting medication and that my father had given me one of his 5mg Opana and it helped me better than my 30mg Roxiecodone so he wrote me a script of 60 10mg Opana er and the 30mg roxi for breakthrough medicine!All was good so I thought I was on cloud 9 all the time not just a few hours through the day but 24/7.Well I stayed on the Opana Er for 3 year all the way up to 40mg 2 times a day!Then the bad news came one day I went to get mine filled and when I got home they were hard as a rock and felt like they were madeout of plastic.I called the pharmacist to make sure I got the right prescription and he said yeah they have made them abuse proof like they did OxyContin about a year or two before.Well at first I tried taking them by mouth and was so sick,never been so sick in my life!The week before they changed them I had been doing some work cutting a rear fender off my mustang gt that I had wrecked that caused me to have to start taking pain meds in the first place,when I bought a new Dremel at walmart and that little sucker would cut,grind through anything I threw at it!The second day of the new Opana ER I thought well I bet anything I could grind one of these things down to dust and continue insufflating them so that's exactly what I did!There are these little round stone grinding wheels that usually come with a Dremel that will grind the abuse proof Opana ER down to a fine dust and you want lose anything!How does it work Great!!!They seemed to work better for me than the old stop sign opana did!

It is sad how much misinformation is posted here! If your not 100% positive about something, then don't post it...or at least verify your information!
Don't accept anything you read here as factual...ask a doctor or pharmacist...all other health care professionals may or may not know what they are talking about!(even though they mean well)

I really liked your story as I am a Medic and was on the 100mg every 48 hours and you are correct, the patch does make you feel worn and sleep a lot, I had my PCP to take me off of them over night and he put me in the Opena 20mg ER and they don't seem to work taking in between Perocet 10.325 every 4-6 hours. I am so proud of getting off of those patches and so many abuse them and what they are made with, I decided after wearing the 100mg every 48 hours in a 6 month period of time I gained 25 lbs. I am very small, 100-108 lbs and gained weight very rapid, these are nothing to play with and will kill you in seconds if abused in anyway. Now that I am taking the Opena ER 20mg is not stopping the pain or actually time release. But I'd rather suffer in pain than to wear any Fentenyl patch, either my PCP took me off or I went cold turkey!

You as "THE PATIENT" have all rights to your medical records and I'd get them. Then find a pain doctor in your local area and I am most certain by looking at your medical history they will resume you on the pain meds they feel will fit your purpose. I would have done this long ago, sadly we do have doctors out here is nothing but a pill writer, which they are being very watched by the FDA, now in most states if they do the new b2 blood draw any drug will show how it was taking. Unlike you had a PCP that had you on medications and go cold turkey, you're lucky your alive from withdraws. You need to obtain your old medical records regardless his/her privileges have been taken. Take that step and I hope you get the relief you deserve for you and your Children! Please update me on this matter!

I live near buffalo ny. My dr was arrested last year for writing bad scripts. He was the second in my area to be busted handing out strong pills for fakers and he used a DEA agents pen to sign s b.s. script in exchange for a gas grill. Dummy! Anyways my problem is is im a real pain sufferer.I broke my back on two seperate occasions.due to dr.b getting busted I am very UNABLE to find a new dr to manage my pain care. I have tried pain management specialist and pcp and everything in between. I am looking for a doc to help with my back and help me regain my pain meds. I am a mother of four kids and this time ive spent with no help has made me a horrible mother because I can't get up and out to do anything with them. HELP ME PLEASE! The only relief ive gotten in the last year was from street pharmacists. Im not a druggie just a mother trying to play with her kids snd go for walks again.

I am a Paramedic, not a doctor but in my line of work, I've seen it all. I was to hurt and had been on Fentenyl Patch 100mg/hr for right at six months. I was able to perform my job task after being on the patch for a few months. Now I asked my PCP to take me off of them and he did. And put me on the 20mg Opana (Name brand) which works much better than generics, although many will argue about this, I know from first hand any medicine made by Milan has just enough medication put in it to be able to sell with this being said Opana as with any Class A narcotic is bad to even think about breaking it in half and snorting it of all things can and will kill you! As any ER (Time Release) all the medication can be anywhere in that pill form and the other part have nothing, this is why it is so dangerous in doing this and if your medication is not helping, talk with your PCP (Primary Care Giver) doctor and I am most certain he/she will either give you a higher dose or change the medication. As myself Fentenyl 100mg was not my cup of tea, anything that makes me feel un-normal I refuse to take nor get out of control that I am unable to ween myself off of. Also it is the law in any state a doctor does a drug screen and find abuse he/she is to discharge you as a patient (drug screen b2 by blood) can find this abuse, Some doctors are plain pill subscribers which sooner they will have their FDA license pulled as they are people like myself will turn one in, in a second...don't abuse get the help you need!

It's not illegal to snort your medication, I'm not going to go into what I do for a living just to say. I know the law and I got shot while on duty and I'm now taking 80mg OPs two or three at a time with no effect when one 30 up intranasaly did half the trick, noone wants a OPinion or a preacher just pain relief sure some people want to get high but why? Maybe they're in pain to noone is here to judge just help

If you were able to quit 'cold turkey' and we're fine after 5-7 days then you were barely addicted and very fortunate. If you take opiates for a long enough period of time your brain basically gets re wired to require them, your body can no longer regulate temp and stops producing serotonin which as most people know is required to be happy. In 1990 I was a passenger in a 1990 honda civic and a drunk driver broadsided us going 105mph, he hit us on my side so needless to say I got hammered. I was actually paralyzed for 63 days from the waste down and was told I'd never ride or race Motocross or Jet Skii's ever again in fact the doctors said I would have to relearn to walk which I eventually did but the damage was done. The accident left me with fractured L3,L4,L5 and S1 and 3 compression fractured in my neck. I was luck to find a specialist who was an MD and went back to school to become a chiropractor. This man also became one of the top doctors using supplements also. Long story short he had me back racing Motocross 1 day short of the 1 year anniversary of my accident. This man was a true miracle worker. He had me on short acting opiates, Norco 10/325's then would switch me to Lortabs every 30 days then back to Norco all the while he also had me on a pretty heavy supplement regimen including a butt load of proflavinol (grape seed extract). Eventually the norco's & lortabs became less and less effective so we moved on to morphine then on to Oxy 30's then up to Oxy 60's which worked for a long time. Eventually I decided that I wanted to stop being an addict which after 10yrs of taking opiates every single day I obviously was. I was lucky enough to have put away around $67k in saving so I could take a few months off to kick my opiate addiction. I went cold turkey, and for 4 months life was hell, I was more sick after 4 months than I was after. 4 days. Finally I saw a specialist who basically told me that I would forever need some kind of opiate of I would feel like this forever. 15years of taking pills screws with the receptors in your brain. I asked if there was anything else I could try and he told me about a drug that was just in testing phases called subutex which was the same as suboxone but without the opiate blockers added. I became patient number 23 in California trials, the 8mg subutex worked pretty good, then my dr said if you crush and snort them they work way better and way faster which as it turns out is 100% true. I recommend anyone who is trying to get off all these opiates ask their dr about subutex. The nice thing is if you have serious breakthrough pain and need a strong opiate you can still take it with the subutex.

THANK YOU FOR THE POST I HAVE GONE THRU CANCER WITH OTHER PAIN ISSUES AND THE HARD OPANAS ARENT ANY GOOD AT ALL,DOES IT EVER DISOLVE AND HELP YOU I HAVE GOT TO GO A WHOLE MONTH IN PAIN BUT INSURANCE ONLY WONTS TO PAY FOR THE GEL KIND SOME HAVE REALLY MESSED IT UP 4 OTHERS IT IS HARD FOR THEM TO WEED OUT THE ABUSERS IF IT WOULD HELP ID SNORT IT TOO!

Its junkies like you that make it so hard on people that are in real honest to God pain to get prescriptions for pain. Why don't you just leave the prescription meds to the people that really need them.

Tell the phrarmist you want generic the Er comes out whole in your stool. Or go to Walgreens but you look like a junkie asking for moons dude. They know the difference

which opana can you break down? they gave me opana er tablets 15mg but the ones with 262 and a half moon on them you can break down those are the ones i need i got into a big argument with the pharmicist at cvs any help please how do i get the er ones do i have to specifically tell them to order them?

Suboxone helped me get off Opana I go to Prestera with a lot of older people who have severe pain including myself, and it helps with the pain plus IM not high from it.

I read ur story and want to try it about the opana but I have two questions plz . First, where did you get ur 30 cc syring? Also, by inserting so much fluid even if u lay down doesn't it come back out wen u stand up and with the liquid the meds also? Much appriciated.

hey i have been a pain sufferer for over 12 years from 3 failed back surgeries and i have got better and longer relief from snorting so don't be calling chronic pain sufferers junkies just because they get better relief in different ways... besides the hose clamp trick or any other trick won't work
