How To Snort The New Formula Opana Er (Page 3)

I became a pain patient after I fell off a horse in March of last year and sustained spinal injuries which are still VERY painful. Opana ER was the first thing doctors gave me that helped at all and now that they have changed the formula I'm in a lot more pain. I want to break down the formula so I can insufflate it, as I am told I may get more pain relief and increase bioavailability of the drug. The new formula hardly offers the same pain relief, Please help me!

Jonson: very well said. I pray for you and your girlfriend. I too tried sticking 4 40's under my tongue at a time. These new formulated pills offer NO relief from pain and barely help to keep the withdrawal symptoms in check. I too hope the Endo suffers great financial loss from what they have done to all of their pain patients. My Doctor informed me that it was the Government that forced them to change the formula. Once again, our socialistic form of Government prevails! If there were such a problem with abuse, go after the people abusing it, don't make legitimate patients suffer because of it and don't go after the Doctors that prescribe it. They need to go after the people who deal illegally with it. And as far as how legitimate pain patients take their medication, it should be up to them how they take it, whichever way works best for that individual. I hope that the two of you find another form of relief, as I am seeking alternatives as well.

If you get the new Opana ER's here's my advice after researching this. No, the Dremel Tool method will not work. Anyone who has these knows that. And sucking on them doesn't increase bioavailability, it just tastes bad.
Ask for Opana ER 15mg's they are white round and have a moon on them. They still have the time realease but are not plastic.
{edited for safety reasons} It is no longer sicky, though Alisha's method would also work I assume.

You Can Clip Them With Fingernail clippers Into Very Tiny Pieces !! I am only on 10 mg 3 times a day and perc-10/325 i of course run out of percs in 10 to 12 days but the opana does keep me from going through withdraw as long as i clip them into very small pieces.

Have you even tried the dremel method? Ive done it with a handfull of pills now, and its yet to fail me in any way.

Yes, I have tried the dremmel method but I dont think what it does to your nose is worth the hassel. Im still working on breaking it down further but the method below definitely increased bioavailability.

I absolutely despise the new formula Opanas!! Im seeing my Dr on the 24th...what should I ask for to replace it?! I also take Roxies for brk thru...I hate not feeling ANY relief at all from this sh**!!

THIS IS THE BEST WAY!!!! Get afrin Spray bottle and empty all but a few drops out ( retain the rest in sxome tupperware for later use). The Afrin actually helps disolve the Opana. Cut the opana into as many little pieces as you can then place them into the bottle. Add a tablespoom of warm water and wait about 30 minutes! Then you are ready to pump the Opana liquid mist into your nose. Effects are almost immediate and you can just squirt more here and there when necessary. This makes it last longer b/c each mist is only a few mgs. of Opana and you can do as much or as little as you can tolerate. I would like to mention, remove the outer coating by wetting it and rubbing it clean on a towel so your nose, if it runs, isnt running out green (opana 20;s) snot. This method does nto have that plastic or oily residue left behind like the freeze/microwave method does. Plus, you can do it in public and no one would know! ;)

To be honest I have found nothing that is close to the relief I get with Opana, although roxicodone does help, it doesnt last near as long as the Opana.
Let me know if you change medications what you switch to and how it compares.
Im working on breaking it down the time rx formula. There are 2 types of Opana I am working with, The new 30's and the new 15's. The new 30's are useless for me so far. I am working on ways to break them down and the law of entropy is on my side. Honestly, As Helper mentioned, using the dremel tool will allow you to grind down the plastic to a "snortable" format but it gel's in your nose. Helper- How do you avoid this? It still works but is so bad I don't really see how you stand it.
The second pill they gave a friend of mine when he complained of this very problem. The are 15 mg's and you can crush them still but it is far from the relief the octagons gave as they also have the time rx. I have figured out how to break it on the 15's.

Jamie, apparently, u r sticking ur nose in something u know absolutely nothing about. There is no way u r a pain patient. Ur probably one of those young gatekeeper Pharmacy techs r such that r stupid enough to believe it has the same effect it just cant be abused cause Endo says so. Well thats a crock of S***! I had a little snot nose girl At the Pharmacy try to tell me the other day that its the same meds it has to b helpung me. I said have u ever taking opana r oxycontin etc. N she rolled her eyes n looked At me like i was a criminal n said NO I have not n i said well Shut Up cause u have no idea what ur talking about.
Not only am i not getting any pain relief but I am.so sick. Its slight WDs but also gas. Rectal bleeding, headaches, nervousness n a feeling of impending doom. This is a damn shame n theres nothing we can do about it. ENDO, the FDA n the governmsnt dont give a damn about us. They think that all people who take opana/oxycontin r criminals. Our great governor n Louisiana thinks that we shoukd all b in prison. He does not believe in Rehab either. I guess the heartless SOB has never had a loved one in pain, with cancer or with a Drug problem. Or maybe hes just a heartless POS.

I have chronic pain from RSD in my dominant right hand. Constantly throbbing and debilitating to the point i cannot do anything and have to lay down. I finally heard about the Fentanyl Patches and I was on 2 100mcg patches every 3 days. When my PC decided to move i found a doctor that would only prescribe me half of that. It was hard to wean down to it but it is working with the breakthrough percocet. The only downfall is i get 10 of them a month so if one gets messed up from swimming or sweating i have bad withdrawls when i am out of them. They work great but do not run out.

Hello!! We have a winner!! The Afrin bottle works great!! I broke up 2 new formula Opana 40mg put them in with the afrin and a teaspoon of warm water; waited 30mins and squirted!! It really works! I have to do 3-4 squirts each nistril every 3hrs or so, but something in the afrin breaks down the lil plastic crap packed into our medicine!! The post speaking of headache etc...I feel ur pain babe...im there too and no one will listen...its gonna take ppl dying to get endo/fda to listen!! Good luck to you all and keep me posted!

Seriously PJ? How do you know what somebody else has to do for pain relief? I have a brain tumor and back issues and have been on pain meds for about 9 years- just Vicodin, percocet and Tylenol 3- obviously not that big of a deal compared to many of you. I am a 42 year old wife & mother of 3 who used to be a VP at a large company before getting sick. I never had problems with any type of drug before Opana er. When the pain management doctor switched me to these he said I would have withdrawls for 3 days and then these would start to work. I would not have tried snorting them if not for the fear of how much worse the withdrawl would get. Started very slow- a tiny bit of one 10mg pill. Now I am up to snorting 5 10mg pills per day. I can manage my home and farm, care for the kids, etc. I am no longer stuck in bed. Unfortunately, the time has come for me to stop and I am preparing myself for the inevitable worst week of my life. I'm reading this to see if anyone knows a way out of this without the misery of going cold turkey. I have tried to do it myself and only get through about half a day of the "zaps", dizziness, upset stomach, headache, depression, anxiety, etc. before I go back to it. I want desperately to get out of this and while I do know I'm to blame for trying it in the first place- I can't help but blame the makers of Opana for turning me into someone who will go doctor to doctor to get more meds when I am legitimately SICK AND IN PAIN. does anyone have any thoughts on how to get back to vicodin for pain? I tried percocet 10/325mg 2 every 2 hours last week to go down- but they were like tic tacs and did nothing. I would love to get off all of it but my doc (who I have asked about getting off pain meds repeatedly) says I cannot as I will be in too much pain. Cannot bring myself to tell her I've been snorting the Opana and do not know where to turn. I'll run out on Friday (again) and cannot decide if I want to try to get more or try out some of the withdrawl meds I've been reading about.. Anyone have any thoughts on Suboxone, or Kolonopin or even, what is the story with Methadone? Please help- running out of time to decide and SCARED!

I was first put on Methadone for my RSD pain. I started with .5 mg and worked up to 2 mg a day. To me it was nothing to do with relieving any pain that i had. I did have break through medication of percocets 10/325. I never got hooked on Methadone which is surprising to me cause of all the bad i hear about them. I found that whenever i went to a doctors appointment and the doctors would find out i was on methadone they looked at me like i was a drug addict. Heroin addict maybe? Alot of the doctors would not prescribe me other medications until they said i got off the methadone first. It is NOT a good pain reliever at all. Trust me!!! It does work well if you want to get rid of withdrawls but need large dosages of it. Only certain doctors or clinics can give you a prescription for it. Also if you go for a drug test for work, you could be taking percocet, vicodin or anyother pain med but if you take Methadone that will show up. I would not rely 100% on Methadone taking away pain. It did not work well for me. Maybe someone else had better luck with it.

scaredofopana, I had posted on this forum earlier on this particular subject....you sound just like me some years back...like 3 years. I was a respected woman in my church, children, husband, etc. I will not go into my diagnosis' because it doesn't compare to what you are going through, I am sure. But, like you, I ended up snorting them and had never abused any sort of pain med. in my life. I quit taking them altogether. To be completetly honest with you, I was never honest with my doctor about abusing the Opana's....I like yourself, never abused meds prior to Opana's and haven't since I got away from them either. Your first 3 days are the worst. The only thing that helped me was Xanax. Normally, I would never advise anyone to do this, but I am a Christian and definitely not "holier than thou", as a matter of fact, I used to judge people who abused pain meds plus couldn't stand them because I blamed the whole messed up system on them....well, whenever I became that messed up person abusing the meds, I became a whole lot more Merciful unto others. Anyways, Xanax is a wonderful med. to take especially when the "spins" start...that is the worst. I don't know about you, but when that starts, I started dry heaving. Opana's really are in a category all their own. The oral Bio-availability was so crappy on the old ones and I can not imagine that they are even worse now...I totally agree with you that Endo, the Pharmaceutical company, should be sued. I refuse to believe that through their clinical trials that they picked one single person who lives in such severe pain, that the person is unable to function or have any type of life, especially with kids and responsibilities of a family, someone who is unable to walk without pain relief...that is what I am like anyways.
scaredofopana, you aren't alone and don't be ashamed sweety, you are a strong woman to even be reaching out for help, I only hope that you get to read this before you run out. Just make sure that you get yourself some Xanax, but be careful with it, just start out with the lowest dose in the beginning, which I am pretty sure is the .25 mgs. When the Xanax kicks in, the spins, nausea and that sort of stuff does go away. And to obtain them, just do what you have got to do....I normally wouldn't tell someone to do this, but that withdrawal is the absolute worst!!! So, start making some phone calls and asking people who can be trusted if they have any and I know how awful this must seem to people reading this, but until you have been there....don't judge. Also, make sure to get yourself some diet gingerale. I dont' know why, but the diet gingerale helped me more than the regular gingerale. And don't forget to get the anti-diarheal. After your 3rd day, you will actually be able to pick your head up off of the pillow and get a shower. Begin taking Super B-Complex vitamins. I take the NatureMade. Believe it or not, this will help you. This is when you will actually be able to take something like Oxycodone and it will be effective. I tried some to prevent the withdrawals, but there wasn't enough of them. And in all honesty, I had to take 3- 15 mgs. at a time, so I took a total of 6 a day and I used them to get myself down off of them things. I was myself within 10 days. I promise you that you will feel so much better. Now, I refuse to touch Opana and if I do read about anyone reaching out trying to figure out a way to snort them, I can't help but warn them, not because I am judging them, but because I have been there and it just isn't worth it. It did help with my pain, but only when snorted. And after I began dosing myself this way....it was like a trap or a web that I had gotten myself caught up in.
I will be thinking of you and praying for you, and I mean that.
Good luck and also make sure to have gotten someone to take care of your kids for like a week. I had to do this....I was really, really ashamed because I think that my Mom knew, but I was blessed by her not saying one word to me.

scaredofopana, I apologize because I wasn't specific when I began taking the 15 mg. Roxicodone's (Oxycodone). I began taking 3-15 mg.of them twice a day. And I dosed myself down 5 mg.every 7 days. Please keep an eye on your blood pressure as well. This withdrawal sky rocketed my blood pressure as well. If worse comes to worse and you can't do this on your own, then go to the Emergency Room. You have a brain tumor and I am certain that they will admit you to get your pain back under control. I had to do this once when I ran out of them. They gave me the PCA pump with Dilaudid in it and kept me in there until my pain was under control. But then again, I just have high blood pressure when my pain is horrible. I am sure that this is with everyone though. I hope this helps you out.

suboxone works well for withdrawl, and mild to severe pain, depending on your body chemistry and tolerance, but the active narcotic buprenorphine is also addictive, but much easier to kick. benzodiazapenes work well, but are also addictive, with sever withdrawls after extended use. physical labor helps honestly though, it works out the aching and spastic muscles, tires your mind and body, and is personally rewarding, dont get me wrong, you will still feel like s*** before, during and after, but your mind frame will be much better, and that is so much of the battle. keep yourself busy, and then smoke a big fat joint of the headiest pot you can find, it will ease some pain, promote your appetite, and also promote sleep. But in reality, with most peoples will power, i would say 2mg doses of suboxone in the morning, hard work, pot, and good food and drink....Do not drink alcahol though to relieve the withdrawl symptoms of opiates though, which will work for a very short duration and make you feel much worse afterwards. Nor i would suggest any real pain killers, such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, dilaudid, morphine, or methadone. The reliefe is temporary always and always leaves you wanting more. Suboxone is not perfect but it works better than any other drug i have been introduced to, it also contains naloxene, an opiate blocker, which prevents any opiates from working for at least 24 hours after taking the suboxone. ... but keep yourself busy, physical labor is satisfying both mentally and physically, and will promote the positive attitude needed to overcome a strong narcotic addiction.
