I took 100 mg of Tramadol last Thursday and have to have a urine test at my pain doc next Thursday (2 weeks between dosage and test). I was wondering if anyone has been tested positive after that long?

I agree for the most of what your saying. Tramadal is strange because you can and rapid detox centers do us it also to get many individual off of Suboxone and yes also Methadone...She it make it almost to easy getting off heroin or a slow half life narcotic using tramadal, but hears the deal and we all know the devil is in the details...you should start taking the tramadal before going into sub withdraws. That's the opposite for Suboxone but true with tramadal. Hope that helps but I have bin through all of this and docter told me this also. get some help and get off this s***! But PS....watch out because after about 2 weeks the tramadal will become physicaly addicted.

So sorry to tell you this, but Ultram/Tramadol is not a narcotic. It is not even a scheduled class anything. It basically is a Tylenol on steroids. My vet give it to my puppy when he injured his front leg actually.

Yes tramadol is a narcotic and can show up in your urine! I have had it happen to me! Tramadol is given to dogs for arthritis, my aunt is a vet's assistant. Look it up and ask your vet about it, ask a doctor if you don't believe me!

You are absolutely correct....I wanted to comment as I have read so many Q & A's about this medication and have read answers that were not accurate. My dog was prescribed 100mg of Tramadol. As we all know, humans are also prescribed this med for pain, etc. I recently took one of my dog's Tramadol (I know ignorant) on a night that I couldn't sleep and had a migraine. Four days later I saw my psychiatrist who requires patients to take a mouth swab drug test. The next time I saw him (2 weeks later) he questioned me as to why I had Tramadol in my system and proceeded to inform me that Tramadol is a narcotic, a synthetic opiate. Needless to say he also "reminded" me taking medication that is not prescribed to me "is not healthy, safe, or part of the program." Just wanted to back your information up to anyone else out there who is ambivalent about this medication. :)

I originally looked this question up because I had an allergic reaction to Tramadol after just 2 days, only taking each night. I still have a horrible rash, but the swelling has gone down. How can people take this! It didnt help my pain, just distracted me by making me swell up, itch and look like a bright red strawberry! Tramadol obviously is addictive, as I have been reading, but with all the side effects and bad things it does (especially if you end up allergic), is it worth it? I am back to just taking ibuprofen for my torn ACL! At least I know I will be safe.

Your very wrong about ultram so to everyone that says its not a narcotic is very wrong. Ultram is a narcotic but is a far lower stage then vicoden or percocets and depending on the amount taken you can get generic heroin like side effects. Most test although does not test for tramadol but since these post are old they probably do now since they wasn't in the narcotic category until just the last year or so. I hope this helps anyone that returns to this site.

I would also like to know, just out of curiosity-how long it does stay in your system~ I have a script, but not presribed by my pain management dr., & some mornings when I'm not hurting as bad, I'm tempted to take it instead of Lortab because it's all I'd need and I don't want to develop a high tolerance to the Lortab, but that might violate my contract with the pain clinic if it was to show up in a urine screen.. (so I haven't taken it since signing that paper)

I have fibromyalgia and pinch nerves in my head .I had biopsies after biopsies, deteriorate disc disease.I have nodules in my lungs and the Doctor had me on oxycodone 15 an oxy cotton 20.he going to send me to a pain management doc in June.my nurse told me to take it easy on my meds that she didn't know if this news young doctor I was going to write still out anymore.so I did and he didn,t fine none of my meds in my system but what he did fine was a tramadol.by accident I thought it was a excedrin.because i was out of Bc,s for my headaches.so she stop by My meds cold turkey.he won't listen the nurse said.don't know what to do? always in a lot of pain.please help.

I think you're both correct, it depends on the state according to my doctor and in Florida, it is NOT considered a narcotic. You need to check your state's governing laws. That will tell you defnitely. Good Luck!

I was taking Tramadol for a bladder infection. And I took it the day before I took a ua. And my doctor told me I tested positive for an opiate. He explained to me that they both use the same brain receptors for pain. So even though it is a non narcotic, it still gives a false positive as opiate. Or Hyde condone. Which is also an opiate. I'm bringing my bottle on my next visit tho. Because I want him to know I didn't take an opiate. I took Tramadol. Anyways the answer is it stays in your system as stated above, 48-72 hours. So you will defiantly be good by 2 weeks. But just a heads up, I'm living proof that it does show as an opiate on a ua. I took them with no worries because I asked the doctor 3 times, "Is this a narcotic??" She said no its not. But it shows a false positive. Needless to say, unless you have proof (your Tramadol bottle) they'll still believe you took opiates. Sucks.

Unfortunately benzos stay in your system for a long time. After taking 2 mg of xanax I tested positive for 3 weeks! Same with clonopin. Good luck.
