I took 100 mg of Tramadol last Thursday and have to have a urine test at my pain doc next Thursday (2 weeks between dosage and test). I was wondering if anyone has been tested positive after that long?

To correct a few of u....... yes tramadol IS classified as a narcotic now and Not only have I done my research, but my suboxone doctor told me as well. And suboxone is an opiate agonist and suboxone blocks opiates. Therefore u do not feel "high" from an opiate after taking suboxone. My doc told me to never take an opiate 15 hours before or 15 hours after taking suboxone because it will make you sick! However, it never affected me that way when I relapsed, but it has made people I know sick, very sick indeed. Now, subutex is just like suboxone for the exception of the naloxone which is the opiate blocker in suboxone. They give subutex to pregnant women (I know from experience) just in case they need "pain killers" during delievery or pregnancy for whatever reason so that the baby doesn't suffer from withdraws. When u take an opiate after taking suboxone it sends your body into withdraw. That is why the doc and most people say u will/can get sick after mixing the 2. I have been sober now, with the help of suboxone/subutex for almost 3 years. I don't think I could have gotten this far without it. I truly thought it was a miracle drug after being addicted to "pain killers" for over 4yrs. And they classified tramadol as a narcotic because so many opiate addicts were taking them to avoid withdraw when they weren't able to take percocet, lortab, etc. I myself used to take 2 to 4 tramadol at a time to get "high" when I couldn't take the opiates of my choice for whatever reason. Tramadol is not considered a narcotic, but is, however, a controlled substance now because it is a synthetic (and weak) version of an opioid pain killer. Therefore, it will alleviate withdrawal from meds like Lortab and Percocet, but you will not receive the same euphoric effects and it also gives you a terrible taste in your mouth. Suboxone doesn't seem to recognize tramadol the same way it would a Lortab, and I, personally could feel the effects of tramadol on Suboxone, unlike other pain meds that were definitely blocked by it when I took them.

Nope, usually they can find it on a ten panel, but not a five. It's an opioid not an opiate. Tramadol will cross reference with suboxone and methadone too i believe. The five panel will find stuff like vicoden, perkaset (if you even had enough in system) i wouldn't worry

I know that in the state of iowa tramadol is not a narcotic and is not declared so by the DEA as it is a synthetic drug and to my understanding it is only considered a narcotic in very few states . Im looking at my paper work from the doc printed to me about tramadol and it clearly says it is not a narcotic.. maybe you live in a state that it is indeed consider a narcotic..

I do urine drug screens for pain management. Tramadol will show up as Tramadol if it is in the panel. Alcohol, Lyrica, Valium, gabapentin, and etc. also show up. We use the biggest panel. The lab is Ameritox. It is very very detailed. However, urine testing for a job is different....3~5 days it will be out of your system. No worries.

I took a high amount of tramadol yesterday around 500 mg in all over the course of the day. I also took 2 vicodin 5/325's. How bad does that look on a drug screen as it showed up on mine today. I have two bludging discs so the meds aren't being taken recreationally.

I think that by narcotic they mean an illicit substance. As in, if you have a scrip then its legal to possess and take. the word narcotic derives from a Latin word meaning to sleep. Just like narcolepsy, the operative stem is "narc" and when used in this context, loosely describes a subset of chemicals which commonly have lethargic side effects or otherwise hinder the normal function of your brain processes. Police use it as a blanket term for all illegal drugs.

I however do have a perscription for tramadol,as well as norco...but my fiance does not have insurance..and pulled his back out yesterday at work...He has to take a urine screen for marijuana/narcotics on mon -tues.....this is so he can be put on the books for work! I however do believe health care professionals that Tramadol is considered a narcotic....But I am wondering , if he takes one 50 mg tramadol...willl this affect his drug screen on monday/tues? as we are NOT drug users , and boss would be testing for again THC/major narcotics!

It is very true that is a narcotic. Walmart verified tht for my ex sis in law. As it is not on the $4 dollar chart anymore because they have. Added it to the class of narcotics!

As a Nurse, Tramadol is considered a controlled substance. It is a mirror/analog chemical make-up of codeine. The DEA has only recently listed this as a categorized controlled substance. It is locked up with the same type of medications such as Morphine, Oxycontin, Codeine, etc. Some facilities, such as nursing homes have yet to do this. Tramadol is a mild pain killer but the potential for abuse is real.

Wrong. It's only illegal in some states. Most states still have no law against tramadol and there is NO federal law making it illegal. I know here in Mississippi it's illegal but I'm going to Texas and you can find it OTC there
