How Long Can I Go Without Taking Suboxone Strips And It Still Show Up In My Urine

I have been on suboxone strips for over 3 years. I am prescribed 2 8mg strips a day. This month I over took my prescription because they are not lasting as long as they used to. The thing is I go to a pain clinic and they are very strict due to federal regulations. I never misuse my strips (shooting up, chewing, etc) but I did take more than expected this month. I have 5 strips left to take back with me and five strips left to take but I go back to the doctor on September 14, 2011. I am really scared that my levels will be off. I do not use to get high as I suffer from scoliosis, a pinched nerve, nerve damage in my lower left leg and left foot, and I have two bad knee's that will eventually have to be replaced. Please anyone with knowledge on this matter would be great.

Suboxone contains Buprenorphine and Naloxone and, like most other narcotics, the Buprenorphine is usually detectable in testing for approximately 4 days, after taking it.

However, yes, your levels may be off, since when you are prescribed a certain amount, in many cases they do look for them to be within a certain range and anything outside of that range can alert them to a problem.

Whether they are strict, or not, your smartest bet is to always be honest with them, by telling them that your current dosage isn't handling your pain. In this case, the worst they can do is not change your prescription.

However, by changing it yourself and taking more, you can run into the problem with your levels being off and them thinking you are abusing your medications and refusing to prescribe any more, at all.
