Constipation is caused by the Buprenorphine (which is in both Suboxone and Subutex). Like all opiates, it causes constipation (and cause nausea). The additive of Naloxane in Suboxone does NOT cause constipation. Any prescriber of Suboxone or Subutex should inform their patients to use MiraLax (a stool softener/laxative) as needed. Buprenorphine is very strong.

And guess what suboxone films have an abuse rate too. Naloxone is there for overdose incase of iv use. It's not the blocker. Buprenorphine does not make u high! I know ppl that misuse suboxone films. But to ppl like me that's never abused drugs should be given the chance to be on subutex for those who get sick off of naloxone.

Subutex pill that's plain buprenorphine is better then them crappy suboxone films! I took the subutex before being on the suboxone program. Which the suboxone does stop withdrawal but for me the naloxone in it makes me sick. Vomiting headaches, nausea, some vomiting, bad belly pain, restlessness, itching alot, down mood etc and the doctor knows it's the naloxone making me sick but they only prescribe subutex to pregnant women! I never did misuse drugs. Only popped pain pills. Idk why the doctor won't at least give me a try at subutex and do drug panels and pill counts and check for needle marks. Any doctor that prescribes suboxone should be able to prescribe subutex! The naloxone in suboxone don't stop ppl from abusing the drug. The makers of suboxone just want doctors and such believe that so they can keep making money from they're suboxone meds and company. I took 8mg subutex under my tongue in the past and never had not 1 side effect.

I agree 100%! I know I will be soo lucky if I get prescribed subutex. I know all the BS they're going to give me about not wanting to try suboxone but it makes sick the same way. I don't have any desire to feel high or whatever and they're going to make it impossible for me to get off methadone. They just wont do it even tho it will greatly benefit my life and my family! They don't care bc to them Everybody's a drug addict! They can do pill counts/drug panels on me too....doesn't bother me. That's why I'm desperate to find a Dr in my area that will listen to me and let me prove to them I can take subutex responsibly! Is that not what it's intended for- to help people switch over from methadone or get people clean?! I'm far beyond my years of giving a care about feeling "good", nvr really was that an issue for me to begin with! Its so aggravating...

Buprenorphine IS an opiate. Naloxone (in Suboxone) is the ONLY additive that blocks opiate absorption. If you mix another OPIATE with the OPIATE of pure Subutex, you can indeed increase it! Ask your pharmacist.

It doesn't work every time... When I started with my doc I explained I had been buying subutex/suboxone through other means and that suboxone gave me severe migraines and they make me nauseous every time... He told me straight up that he has heard all kinds of excuses to get subutex and he doesn't prescribe subutex to anyone but pregnant women... I had a pregnant friend call in trying to find a doc and he sent her to a methadone clinic, wtf... So yeah doesn't always work.

I was prescribed suboxin several weeks ago. It gave me bad headaches and stomach issues. I went for my follow up today. I told my doctor the symptoms and he prescribed me subutex which doesn't gave the naloxin in it. A lot of doctors don't like prescribing the subutex because you can essentually still use it with opiets with a leader effect but still non the less. If your doctor will not switch you I would suggest finding a new doctor since you are having side effects. There is a list of suboxin/subutex doctors listed online.

Yeah that's my ordeal too. I had gotten subutex from another means to help me get off methadone and it worked. I just couldn't afford the doctor visit at the time and now that I can I'm afraid I'll waste $300-$400 to hear a doctor tell me the same thing! Its the most aggravating thing to me bc I don't abuse opiates, idc for them and haven't for years! I just want off the damn methadone and I KNOW what works for me! But telling a Dr who doesn't know me and spilling out 15 years of history to him, all he's gonna hear is drug addict!... Can't trust anything she says. And that's just soo unfair.

If I heard that, I'd believe you, but I wouldn't prescribe a drug compound that has the same drug that causes you to have migraine and allergic reactions. Btw, allergies are easy to check for these days. Ask any allergist; Just a little blood. Assuming I'd accept this story, I would consider ANYTHING with Suboxone or Subutext in it. And, no, Narcan (in Subutex) doesn't mitigate drug allergies. Give us a little credit. WE did earn doctorates (I have two) and, over these past 20 years, have heard every conceivable "excuse" for requesting a SPECIFIC drug in the narcotic or benzodiazepine class.

The Dr.s don't care here in Tn. just screwed. I been clean 6 years with 6 years of clean D test and was on subutex for pretty much the whole time until about a half year ago they made that law about Suboxone and had to get on suboxone. been sick the whole time, gained 50 pounds because I can't go out and do anything. I pretty much told the dr I'm gonna be dead soon. I'm gonna off myself and get back on Ds. all he could say was go to a pain clinic and get back on morphine and Oxymorphone, that's the stupidest thing I ever heard. ok I go back to what brought me here in the 1st place great circle of life. See I need pain management but there's nothing they will do for me. all I'm asking for is something with one less ingredient, but they rather me relapse than give me what they know helps me lol. That and methadone but they don't wanna give me either, just right back to the OPs ha. whatever just wasting away. holler.

You hv to tell them u r allergic to it that's how both of my nieces get it.One drives that North Carolina and gets it because she tells them she's allergic to soboxadone.

Ha it's not that easy in Tn you have to have a special test that they say your allergic or not, You have no say they know how you feel and how it affects you obviously, And my Dr. Joked at there was only like 2 people In all west Tn that was able to get the note from the test lol that's funny

Dear doctor,

I suppose you're speaking from actual experience. I know narcan does give people other then myself headaches and a variety of other adverse side effects. Perhaps people just call them "allergies", but regardless if someone really would have a better quality of life on subutex rather then suboxone and they're not asking for it bc they want to use drugs, then what would you advise them to do? At $400.00/visit how might a person get their doctor to believe them, how can a doctor get to know a patient well enough to tell the difference between someone wanting to switch to subutex for the right reasons verses the wrong reasons? Some people can only afford one shot at $300.00-$400.00/visit. Not to mention the receptionist will not give you any information over the phone until you are in there paying upfront...Dr. you are aware there isn't any narcan in Subutex? Or was that a misprint?

Why can ppl get a months worth of suboxone and live normal lives when ppl on methadone have to report to a clinic everyday. Its not fair. My life is surrounded by a clinic it makes me depressed and it to time consuming. If your off all drugs and working the program why cant I go to a privacy of a drs office and get a months supply of methadone and live my life without the hassle of going to a place everyday waiting a half hr sometimes more. Please someone shed light on this situation. I feel that Im on the verge of a nervous breakdown sincerely nelbelle

IF you have come to the point that you are citing how you have "heard every excuse", etc., you are either 1) Not a Doctor or 2) should resign being so, because you have become clearly PREJUDICED with your patients and clearly "profile" before knowing the facts or performing a full accessment on the patient. Your comment alone is inaccurate (subutex contains NO narcan). So much for your two doctorates. Do patients a favor and refrain from advising them. You clearly know NOTHING addictions.
