Hello Fellow Pain Sufferers I Am From The Ohio Indiana Kentucky Tristat Area Close To Cincinnati Just Turned 51 Yesterday When Come To Find Out...

Updated

I have chronic pain and have been on pain meds for around 20 years. No, I am not a drug addict. I have quit taking pain meds many times for several months at a time. The time I did that I was literally bed ridden which didn't go over well with my family. They begged me to go back to the doctor and get back on my pain meds. At this point I have been with my doctor for 4-5 years now only because my PCP would not increase my pain meds and I so desperately needed it to be increased. So I am at the point again where I need my meds increased and my pain doctor has only increased me one time around two years ago. Now I feel as if I am not on any medication at all. I currently am prescribed 4 - 20 mg OxyContin, 8 - 10/325 mg Norco and 8 - 350 mg Carisoprdol. The truth is (by the way I've told my doctor I do this) I take 16 of both my Norco and my Carisoprodol. I take 2-3 OxyContin when I wake up as well as 2 of the Norco and 2 of the Carisoprodol. He does prescribe it that way, meaning 2 at a time. I realize many of you may think I am nuts and that you may think I am just an addict, for those of you who think that, well there's nothing I can say and frankly I don't really care what you think. For the rest of us who truly have pain and understand my plight, I must find a new doctor in the greater Cincinnati Tri-State area who really understands how pain works and that when on a certain amount of pain meds, eventually it needs to be increased. Now my doctor is a wonderful man and I would so much prefer staying right where I am, but I can't stay on with him solely based on how much I like him. I would never leave if that were the case. I cannot find a doctor willing to take on a proven pain patient. I have all my tests, MRI's, medical records...it's almost as if no one wants to be bothered, let alone asked to increase my medication to a level that will give me my life back. Will someone, anyone at all, please help me find a doctor that will not only treat my chronic pain, but not treat me as if I am worthless. Thanks for any help and by the way, I will drive several hours from my house just to go to a decent, kind and understanding doctor. Actually, my wonderful husband would drive me. You can call me Elky!

I hope you found a good doctor by now and one who understands and doesn't call you an addict.I am from Cincinnati but drive to Kentucky every month to see Dr John Kelly..he's off of turkey foot road close to Florence.been there for over 15 years with no problems..but this new pill law pisses me off and it needs to change for chronic patients..taking away pills kills us more ways then they can imagine. Good luck.

Is this doctor ok with Rxing medications to legit patients? Im trying to find a doctor to replace mine who suddenly died and left all his patient without a doctor. I would consider driving there. Ive undergone every procedure and have had multiple surgeries, still in pain. Just wondering because Ive been to other PM doc's who will not Rx my meds. Im willing to undergo the procedures, actually I want them. Together with my meds, I get pretty good relief.

Those pain clinics and pain management doctors are worthless. They want you to do bio-feedback (visualize pretty pictures) exercise (a lot of people think exercise fixes everything) Acupuncture (I don't trust it because they claim it fixes EVERYTHING, just like chiropractic). They also push surgery and injections with steroids or nerve blocks. Read comment sections from chronic pain sites and you will see none of this stuff really works.

AVOID dr. Mitch simons blue ash ohio dt thomas ky. he is simply a chop shop. lines up 20 patients at a time for epidural injections most of which arent necessary medically speaking, BUT ARE NECESSARY BY HIS STANDARDS OR YOU ARE CUT OFF MEDS cold turkey for many even like me. i said ok doc ive had 3 epid injections in a year with little or no success but ur health doesnt matter, his bottom line does. simons makes 4mill a yr off epidurals. AVOID AVOID AVOID. his business model is to write u vicodin, methadone, LOW MG FENTANYL patches for 1yr to 18mos. And after ur maxed out in injections he finds a reason to toss u out. he has no love for patients and holds narcotics over your head as a soon as u say i dont want more useless injections you'll get handed a script for tramadol. This dudes needs the board to yank his pain mgt license. hes a medicaid crook and has been sanctioned 2x for groping fondling female patients. google it yourself. DO NOT MAKE SAME MISTAKE I DID. YOU'LL BE PUNISHED INTO HORRIBLE OPIATE WITHDRAWALS. HOW HE HAS A LICENSE IS BEYOND ME. YOU PEOPLE ARE LIVESTOCK TO THIS CROOK. IF I COULD BEAT PISS OUT OF HIM n get away with it i would be standing in line..

If you have a pain source that cannot be corrected, you will probably qualify for a spinal cord stimulator or a morphine pain pump. You just need to find a specialist who uses these products. I just posted more info on this site under a thread titled "Chronic Pain Sufferers".

Stay away from Dr. Mitch Simons chop shop medicine. He likes to pull ur meds and cause withdrawal for not getting repeated injections after u tell him they offer no benefits.. He's the worst pain mgt doc you'll ever encounter. He's a classic cocky narcissistic jerk. He has a disciplinary record in the state of ky for groping female patients he settled out... He should be in another profession... Maybe a door gunner in the marine corp.
