How Long Does Methadone Stay In Your System? (Page 8)

Is Methadone completely out of your system in 72 hours, or does it take longer? Since Methadone seems to last longer that 4 - 6 hours, I was just wondering?

Hi, this is Marilyn. I wrote about taking Cymbalta, methadone, trazadone, etc. If you find out anything with your research, could you please let me know. Doctors don't seem to care about me just as long as I take the medications and leave them alone. I took methadone for chronic back pain...never took heroin or any street drugs but that doesn't matter. I stopped taking methadone cold turkey in May 2013 but sometimes I think it is still in my system. I also wonder, could I ever go back on a small dose of it just to relieve some of the pain? They put me on a new drug call Nucynta but it doesn't work as well for pain. Thanks for reading my posts.

I took 2 methadone 10mg 8 to 10 days ago, the doctor said he showed up in my urine test? How long does it take to get out of your system? Will he take my other medicine away from me?

Hi. Im on 18ml methadone daily and am on a plan of a 20% reduction every 4 days. Im gonna go cold turkey when im down to 2ml and if needed use some co-codemal for the last few days. My question is that in six weeks I have a DVLA medical in the UK to hopefully get my driving licence back. One will there be any traces in urine screen ( you are looking at 4 weeks then since last dose of meth) ? And secondly I have to have blood tests for "LFT" , will there be any trace ??? Thanks. Worried :-(

I too have been proscribed methadone at a dosage of 120mg daily, and like you, I can take 240mg and be straight as an arrow.
There are a few tricks I've learned over the years to feel the medicine in my system, but between you and me...I wish I would have went a different route when it came to my pain management. The detox from methadone,to me, is a ridiculous hell.

I have been taking methadone for almost 15 years i have not used methadon in 31 days as of today 4 days ago i went to probation and they found methadone in my system 207 nanograms and i am now being violated cause probation says it is gone in five days do you know where i could find factual reports from proffessionals to bring to court i am on suboxone now and it is perscribed but i need to prove methadone was residual. Plz help thx

I took 50 miligrams of liquid methadone on the 15 and 50 more on the 22 was clean bf that and havnt done it since have to take a ua on the 10 it will b 16 days since I took it will I pass r am I screwed plese share advice

I have a chronic back injury and was prescribed 10 mil methadone. When my workers compensation ended the doctor cut me off. I need to know who I need to see about getting a doctor to treat me in my area. I live in Bedford Ohio. I take one 10 milligram methadone pill a day. I don't know where to go or who to talk to. I have chronic back pain but no doctor to treat me and I have to resort to the streets for meds!!!!! Can you help steer me to a doctor in my area? I am on disability.

I tend to disagree with the methadone/subutex suboxone detox/I was inpatient to get off subutex 8mgs 3 x a day and 2 mg of xanax.I would much rather kick methadone.I have over 30 years of experience and have been on tex since 2008. The detox damn near killed me I did not eat or sleep for 2 weeks.I was so sick. Coming off sub is worse than Methadone.methadone you can take a long taper and after your last dose get a sleep aid and you will be fine.Try that with subutex,LOL LOL Stay ona low dose of done and you will be fine.Good luck I think subutex is a killer.

Kurt is right,.. i have been on methadone 18 years 12 years taking 160 mg a day,, its bad stuff, i took my self off of methadone after a really bad spell i had, breathing problems and shaking from the inside out,,you'll get the runs sweats and puke all at the same time getting off this stuff, my doctor is set in his ways, so im getting a doctor that will give oxycodone instead, methadone causes weight gain and breathing problems, they cut me from 16 10 mg a day to 10 10 mg a day, i thought i was going to die getting use to the reduced amount, so after they did that to me, and i had it release from my fat cells all at once,, i was shaking from the inside out couldn't breath, it scared me bad,, so i had to get off of it , they can't cut you down that much at once,KURT IS RIGHT ITS LIKE NO HANGOVER YOU HAVE EVER HAD, it'll take weeks/ months puking sweating and the runs all at the same time,, not trying to scare you but hope it does. its some bad stuff to be dependent on at high doses ,.. GOOD LUCK, IF YOUR DOCTOR WONT GET YOU OFF OF IT GET A DOCTOR THAT WILL..... YOU'LL FEEL MUCH BETTER

DEPENDS ON THE DOCTOR,, YOUR TAKING MEDS THAT ARE NOT PRESCRIBED TO YOU WITH THE DEA LIKE THEY ARE HE MAY NOT HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO TAKE ALL YOUR PAIN MEDS AWAY,,, ITS NOT WORTH IT TO LOOSE ALL YOUR OTHER MEDS. I took 1 methadone 10mg 3 weeks ago! I have never taken one before an had to drop for my probation officer twice now and its still coming up positive after 3 weeks i had gastric bypass an was wondering if there is a reason im still dirty? I have until monday to hav eclean urine or i go to jail! I dont understand any of this an wanted a second opinion so i went to my doctors office and had a drug test done get the results today! Does anyone know how to clear my system? My probation officer told me to drink lots of water and i am!

i took methadone for 2 years, anywhere from 10 mg to 70 mg a day. most of the time i stayed on low doses. i started it for opiate withdrawl, after abusing painkillers for 4 years. it definetly helped to get me off painkillers, little did i know i would become dependent on methadone. i should have just went cold turkey off the painkillers, because methadone withdrawl is a whole other hell. my last methadone dose was on january 3rd 2014. the ws started about 2 days later and lasted for almost 3 months. the absolute worst time of my life. the mental part was almost as hard as the physical, i felt so weak and lathargic, i could barely walk to my car without being extremely exhausted. the rls, and insomnia were also terrible. on top of not wanting to eat, your appetite completely disappears. so your weak from the withdrawls, and weak from not eating. my point is, if you think you need to take methadone for pain or for opiate with drawl, think again, put some serious thought into what will happen when you stop taking it. i can tell you from personal experience the pain is alot more tolerable then the hell you will go through when you stop the medication. i have now been sober 93 days, and im just barely remembering how to live without the help of a drug. but my experience shows it is possible to stop methadone, you better be one strong person, inside and out.
