How Long Does Methadone Stay In Your System? (Page 2)

Is Methadone completely out of your system in 72 hours, or does it take longer? Since Methadone seems to last longer that 4 - 6 hours, I was just wondering?

I took two 10 mg methodone 7 days ago. I will have a urine test in the morning. Will it show up?

I just got a job offer and its with a lab company... they do pre employment blood test for drugs. I take methadone(in a treatment program) and xanax when needed my last prescription was in may for 60 1mg tabs is that prescription too old even though I have tabs left? How long does methadone show up for blood test? I am embarassed but I do have proof of methadone maitanance i just would rather if they don't know my business.

I have been on 2.5 mg's of Methadone 3x's daily for a spinal cord injury for about 5yrs now but I stopped taking it abot 72 hrs ago for a possible up coming drug test for employment. When will I be "clear" of the residuals and detox symtoms?

This is so right. My Dr started me on 40mg a day 1st year. I brought myself down to 10 mg the last 4 yrs. Decided to get off completely by going down to 5 mg for 2 months after that 2.5 mg for a month then half of that for another 4 to 6 weeks. When that was over about two weeks later insomnia kicked in with very restless leg cramping. Even lortab 10 and lunesta 30 mg or ambien didn't help. For 4 days I didn't sleep and was in total misery. My pain Dr called in for me 100 mg of trazadone. It knocked me out. Slept like a baby. The next day it took nearly all day to get over being dizzy and a headache. After that the lunesta started working pretty good. My Dr advised me to take a methadone 10 mg and cut into 8 parts and take a piece at bedtime every other night for another two weeks and it worked. July 15th 2012 was when I stopped methadone and today Nov 9th I'm completely free of that evil drug. Methadone will keep you from craving other drugs but all your doing is swapping one for another and a lot harder to get off. It makes you gain weight, crave carbs, smoke way more and UN-motivated to get up and out to live life. I've watched people who was taking. 60 to 100 mg a day start nodding and fighting to keep there eyes open. This went on all day everyday. Life is over when you are on methadone. You can get it back. It's not gonna be easy or quick but you can do it. If I did anyone can. I've also quit smoking with the help of chanting. Smoked for 26 years 1 1/2 pks a day to none in three weeks now. I don't crave one at all. I do think about it at times but the thought goes away quickly. I'm dealing with it day by day and I'm sure I will for a few weeks to come. Great luck to everyone who has a methadone problem. Never forget, you are not alone and you can do this. It will change your world. One more important thing, never never take Zanex with it. That combination has killed so many people. Research and you will see.

All that's terriffic but it doesn't answer my questions: How long to clear the drug from my system for a drug test and how long before I'm done with the detox. Thanks!

Steven, if you take last one today, you should be clear in 3 to 4 weeks. Every person is different and so is the test performed. My Dr office takes.urine and sends off to a lab who measures the amounts. And I can honestly say that after I took my last 1 mg it still showed up 2 weeks later. As for the detox if you can try and follow what my Dr advised. When I took my last one it took two weeks till it hit me the hardest. Insomnia was so bad and the leg cramps. My Dr helped me through that which took about another 3 to 4 weeks. After that you will still feel like no energy so make sure you take all the vitamins required and it would be a good idea to see a medical Dr and have your blood checked for B-12 levels and Vitamin D. You will feel better every day just take care of yourself and eat right. Take precautions against colds and flue"s cause for me my immune system was low and I got a really bad cold. During the insomnia not to mention a pulled muscle in my back from tossing and turning so much. I'm also just now getting over another bad cold which turned into bronchitis. Wasn't sick one time while on methadone. Strange. Get help from a Dr or you will go badly k to the methadone or something else cause this stuff is bad.

This medication almost killed me the 1st time I took 10mg of it for withdrawal from hydro & opiates. My blood pressure was 198/113 and it game me extreme anxiety. The last time I went through withdrawals, I was tried on subutrex (spelling?) and it caused me hallucinations. The suboxone worked like a charm but after a month of being out of rehab, I got back on the pills. What does someone like me do who doesn't tolerate these withdrawal meds good and also, I'm scared of a quarterly drug test that is coming up in a week at work.

I have been on methadone for ten months. I am currently on my second day without it. I feel ok and have come straight off it before with only runny nose sneezes and that's all. But to be able to do this I was taking amphetamines. To stop the awful sweating and uncomfortable feelings. I obviously was wide awake for around two weeks and fell asleep . And continued to use amphetamines . I just don't want to be on ANY DRUG AT ALL AND I KNOW THIS IS THE ONLY WAY AND THAT PPL HAVE TOLD ME IT Has taken them unto two-three months but I am so so hoping after two weeks surely I should be almost clear of it and then a week to get the amphetamine out of my system..????

can a dr just drop you off methadone didnt discharge but drop after 7 month 90 mil aday is that legel with out take you off slow

I was on methadone for almost 5 years. I stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago, and I haven't had any withdrawl or sleeping problems. I started taking imodium for the diarrhea, and i took enough to make it stop. Then I learned that imodium, or generic, is an opiate derivative that just cannot cross the brain blood barrier. It stopped all of the physical withdrawl problems, which made the psychological side much easier to deal with. I just took the recommended dose, and doubled it every time it didn't help my diarrhea problem (it eventually did stop it though). Good luck. Oh and dont drink alcohol, or use anti-histamines while trying to quite the stuff they kick the imodium(or any opiod) out of the opiod mu receptors.

I have been on methadone for almost two years now (with a two month break over a year ago) taking a dose of 140 mgs liquid a day. I need to pass a ua and I have about 5 weeks to do it. I cant just quit cold turkey and I dont want to stop the program just yet. I am starting to taper down but they wont let me do more than 10 mgs a week. I do have several hundred mgs saved up that I can use to taper off a little quicker (if need be) and I am willing to take a week or two off to do it if I have to. I have a fairly fast metabolism when not on the methadone and I usually start to kick 36 to 48 hrs after stopping. Any suggestions on what I should/can do?

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with u. I'm on the program at 105mg. Was at 145mg. I don't nod off. I've lost 70 pounds, graduated school, get up and live my life far more than I did without it. I used to binge drink, now I'm sober. I eat healthier. 0 carbs. Only thing I can say is that it's given me a sweet tooth, and to go number 2 is a pain in the bum literally. Really constipated.

I have been on 55mg of methadone for a couple of years & decided to swap to suboxone. I stopped collecting my meth for 2 days( taking heroin to stop the withdrawal but went into huge withdrawal an hour or so after taking the sub(12mg) how long is it likely to take till this passes. The only way I've been able to sleep is by taking more h. So sick of this!

Yes, it will not show up in a urine screen. Make sure you drink a lot of liquids, especially cranberry juice. Your body will metabolize it in 2 to 3 days in small dosages. Good luck!
