Gabapentin 50mg

I have been taking 50mg.of Lyrica 3 times a day for a pinched nerve in my lower back. Now my Insurance Co. said they will not cover Lyrica they recomend Gabapentin. What is the difference in thede two meds

Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin and Gabapentin is the active ingredient in Neurontin, but they are both the same type of medication, they are anticonvulsants that have also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain.

Have you contacted your doctor about it, yet? Sometimes they both work for someone, but sometimes they don't. You can really only try it and see.

Gabapentin worked OK for me but I got leg cramps. They didn't last long, per cramp, and did not leave my calf muscle sore but were annoying enough for me to go to Lyrica, now I fight weight gain which cause new pains. Arrrrghh...

I have sexual dysfunction and bad leg cramps on 1800 mg Gabapentin for past 9 months. I didn't know it might cause leg cramps, I though it helped cure them. Had a long drive to LAX last week, couldn't make the drive home because my right foot started cramping. I got out of the car and walked around a while. Couldn't even do more than start the car, tried to step on the break and my foot cramped and my calf started cramping. It was worse than before i stopped. This was helping my panic anxiety, but not going to take it. I will taper off with half dose for next two weeks. My dr is an ASS HAT! Keeps complaining that Xanax is not good for me. I've been taking it for 30 years and don't notice any side effects, stops the panic, does not make me sleepy, not since the first week.
