White scored oblong/oval pill 13 2, blank on one side
4 Replies RSS
This is a rather large white oval tablet with 13 and 2 on one side and blank on the other, scored down the middle. What is it? I can't find any information. Any help would be much appreciated! ## @ARA, Based on your description, the closest match I'm finding is an 800mg Gabapentin tablet, used for neuropathic pain. It's depicted as a white oblong shaped pill imprinted with "G | 13" on one side and blank on the other -(but scored down the center on both sides). The only logical thing I can think of is that you may have misinterpreted the G for a 2 depending on the condition of the pill. For reference, this particular tablet is reported to be approximately 19mm in size and is manufactured by a company called Glenmark Generics. Any chance this could be your pill? ## No,...

Has anyone ever saw neurotin with NT 151 or NT 150 on them? ## Hello, LB! How are you? Yes, it is a 600mg tablet from Parke-Davis of Pfizer. The FDA lists Gabapentin as being an anticonvulsant that is also approved to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

how long does it take gabapentin to get out of your system
13 Replies RSS
i was taking 300 mg neurontin . 1 in am 1 at noon and 2 at bedtime. I was prescribed the med in May of 2013. Increased later when not helping with foot numbness. It has been almost 2 weeks since i tapered myself off of the drug and i still feel nausea in the am which effects my eating. Please advise how long it will take this med to be out of my system. Thank You ## Hi Cindy, Sorry to hear about the nausea you've been experiencing lately. From what I've been researching, in most cases it usually ends up being around 2 to 5 days for this type of medication to clear your system. However because you've been taking it for about a year, I'd imagine your body could still probably use some time to get accustomed to not having it on a regular basis. One study I found mentioned t...

does gabapentin cause major itching
2 Replies RSS
I take 300 mg gabapentin at night for post operative foot pain and have started itching profusely does this med cause that and if so how long do you have to be off of it before it subsides? ## Hello, Nana! How are you? Yes, according to the FDA, it has been known to cause this as a side effect in some people that take it, along with nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight changes. Have you consulted your doctor? They can help you determine whether or not it is due to the medication, for sure, as well as what you can do to help alleviate it. As to how long it will take to stop, it really depends on how long you've been taking it, it could take a few days, or a week. ## Thank you. Verwon, I have stopped taking gabapentin to see if itching subsides, I am taking doxepin and ceritizine...

greenstone/ gabapentin 800mg

I'm being told by many pharmacies over the last couple of months, that they can not get the Greenstone Gabapentin. That Greenstone isn't accepting orders for it, with no reason why. Why is that? What's the problem? ## Hi Laurie, One theory is that the DEA could be involved with Greenstone's manufacturing process, limiting what they produce or ship out. But if the pharmacy is unable to give you a precise answer, this sounds to me like something that should be taken up with the manufacturer directly. Looking on their website it doesn't say that anything is wrong with Gabapentin, so I think it's safe to assume that it should be back at some point. Greenstone's customer service hotline is toll-free and can be reached at: 1-800-447-3360 I hope this helps!

I am trying to find out if gabapentin is ok to be in the system (body) of a truck driver. Legal presciption from a doctor. ## Can a truck driver pass a DOT physical if he takes gabapentin? ## Hello, Jeanie! How are you? I'm sorry, but from what I've found the answer is no. There is an automatic disqualification for anyone taking any type of antiseizure medication. This is due to the fact that the person either has epilepsy, or if they are taking it for nerve pain or mood disorders, the medication could put them at risk of a seizure, if they miss a dose or are late taking it. Having a seizure while driving could be very dangerous. The FDA lists the typical side effects to this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight changes. Before I became more proactive than I already was, and I was focused, but not on the right place. Then I started researching the drugs I was on. One of the first was Gabapentin. While I was on Gabapentin before I had first symptoms she began increasing my dose immediately.. I could not figure out where she was going with increasing my dose every time I reported my symptoms were progressing. It had originally just been my feet. Then my legs, with hyperesthesia of my knees, specifically to cold and barometric changes., onto a pelvic floor disorder, essentially pressure on the pelvic floor, with pressure on the Pudendal Nerve. All the while reporting this to my Neurologist, who instead of asking to see me, increased my Gabapentin. Then suddenly my teeth went numb, my scalp tingled, I had h...

Does anyone drink beer or other alcohol while taking this? I start on it tonight, increasing every 5 days to 900 mg total a day. I'm curious as to how much alcohol can be tolerated and if there are any reasons to avoid it completely. I like my Budweiser. Thanks for any input. ## Alcohol should be avoided while using this medication, especially at such a high dosage, because it can aggravate the side effects, making them much more problematic. These can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and peripheral edema. I have nerve pain from shingles, what is the best compounded topical cream too use. ## Hello, Roger! How are you? I really can't say, compounded creams require a prescription from your doctor and are prescribed according to what they know works best according to their experience with other patients. Thus, there is no set ingredient list. It can vary from doctor to doctor. However, many people with this issue benefit from something that specifically treats nerve pain, such as Gabapentin, either topically or orally. It is an anticonvulsant that also treats some forms of nerve pain and mood disorders. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, to the oral form may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, mood swings, dry mouth and weight gain. What has your doctor advised you to use? ##...

I am also eating myself out of house and home with this med.... anyone else have this problem, and if so, how do I stop it? ## Hello, Strephannie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. The FDA does list these issues as possible side effects of taking Gabapentin, along with dizziness, headache, dry mouth and mood swings. However, most side effects do tend to improve, as your body gets used to the medication, but it may take a month or so.
