Gc/ms Test For Oxycodone

Is it even remotely possible for a lab using GS/MS the absolute minimum cut off level to detect a one-time-only 5 mg dose of oxycodone 28 days after the dose was taken?

Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry is as close to being a perfect drug test as it's possible to get. But I think the result is going to be largely dependent on the type test you're taking (i.e. hair, urine, etc).

It has been known to detect weed you smoked weeks ago. Although I haven't found any specific details on how it measures Oxycodone levels. Oxycodone itself is generally out of your urine in just a few days time. In hair it can be detected for up to 90 days.

If you know you are going to face this machine, the only advice I have is to present the lab with your previous script of Oxycodone, so at least you're not held accountable for something like that.

There's a cutoff threshold where even if there are oxycodone or it's metabolites in your urine if below a certain level you will test negative. I believe it's 200ng/ml for oxycodone but it's metabolites i'm not sure (they test for all metabolites and oxy cuz ppl were just grinding a tiny bit of their oxys into their urine to test positive and also because a profile of all metabolites shows the general pattern of usage. They do all this to catch ppl who are selling their prescription and taking one a day before test just to test positive).

Two reasons for this. One is a very unique reason. That is that eating poppy seeds (like on a bagel) would cause you to test positive if there was no cutoff threshold of detection. The level of opiate metabolites present from poppy seeds is ridiculously small and would never make you feel high but GC/MS can detect extremely small quantities of chemical's ... it's looking for molecules, it can easily go into the pg range depending on which MS was used.

The second is similar just not comically unique as eating poppy seed bagels makes you test positive. That is simply that below a certain threshold it's difficult to ascertain if what was shown up as detected wasn't another closely related molecule or metabolite.

5mg oxycodone after 28 day's there's 100% you will test negative (it will not show up) in urine. Should likely be the same for blood as well. Hair test's i'm not certain of because judging by how long they are able to detect I suspect they have an extremely low threshold cutoff.

It only takes like 2-4 day's for oxycodone to clear from your system (it has halflife of about 2-4 hours and it take's GENERALLY SPEAKING 5 passes (5 half lifes) for the quantity in you to be below the detection threshold. However, each metabolite has it's own halflife and they are testing for all these with GC/MS as well so it may take longer for some of those to clear.

An major example is Diazepam (Valium), it has a very long half-life itself so does take a long time to clear your system but it has several major metabolites, some of which are actually drug's that have been marketed. These are Nordiazepam, Temezepam, Oxazepam. Almost all the ELISA urine tests (pee in a cup look for lines) use this as one of the primary detected product's in the benzo screen and this is because people know that diazepam has a long time to clear so might wait 4 weeks and think they are fine. BUT THEY'RE NOT, Oxazepam will continue to remain in their urine and the amount is related to how frequently they took Valium, so if they took it once and stopped 4 weeks ago thats a big difference then if they took it all the time and stopped 4 weeks ago.

Anyway's Valium is a Benzo and has a half life like 100 hours so doesn't relate to Oxycodone, i'm just using it as an example to describe how they take the profile of the drug in question and it's metabolites to determine if you've been taking it normally (or just the day before to test positive and keep getting it but you're actually selling it) and just make it a lot harder for people to cheat the test, even when they are supposed to test positive !

GC/MS is the gold standard in drug detection, there's little can be done to get around it other then time and abstinence and a one time dose of 5mg oxycodone 28 day's ago sounds almost 100% certain to me that it won't flag positive on a GC/MS.

If you took it regularly and a lot before that 5mg dose then POSSIBLE to be different but 28 days is a good amount of time and you'd have had to be taking it daily at large doses for it to be an issue.

You should be fine. Relax, don't worry too much about it ... there's nothing you can do about it anyway's so just deal with it but sounds like you were prudent enough to give it way more then enough time for it not to test positive and 5mg oxycodone is not a lot either.
