Flexeril Drug Test
UpdatedFlexeril absolutely does show up on a drug screen as an anti-deppressent. Anyone who says otherwise should not be commenting on something that they know nothing about
Why would flexeril show up as an anti-depressant? Flexeril is not an anti-depressant.
No it does not.I've been taking them for awhile and never failed a drug test for urine or hair follicle. so u are right don't talk about.something u know nothing about.
I'm an RN in the ER and we do test for tricyclic antidepressants for the reason that it is a group of prescription medications that can alter your mentation and are often abused, including flexeril. It doesn't mean people who take flexeril are in fact abusing it, but that they should have script for it.
It can cause false positives IF antidepressants are tested for, when sent off to GC/MS it would come back negative. Just because you are an RN does not make you an expert on drug testing. You are a pee collector and dip a 10 panel strip into the sample. Neither Muscle relaxers NOR antidepressants are tested for in ANY urine screen. Stop spreading misinformation.
Actually, Mike, you are wrong. Tricyclics are tested for in a hospital situation, especially when there is a change in mental status or if overdose is a possibility. Perhaps it is you who needs to get the facts straight.
shows up on mine as cyclobenzaprine...and Im a RN so I do get tested frequently..
I am a Nurse as well, and Flexiril did show up on my drug screen as an antidepressant.
I am an RN in the ER and on our "pee tests" it shows tricyclics as being tested for. Flexeril is closely related to a tricyclic and therefore can show positive under this category. I may not be an expert on urine drug screens, but I can read, do research, and ask questions.
No, No, No. Why are you RN's spreading misinformation? Mass spectrometry excludes cyclobenzprine if a false TCA positive is caught. You are talking about ER instant assay TCA urine tests that are used in Emergency Rooms when someone comes in with a suspected overdose. NO pre-employment, probation, etc drug tests check for this. People are not curious if an ER will false positive their Flexeril use, they are asking if taking Flexeril will interfere with their employment or livlihood.
I see a pain management Dr. and just got in trouble because it did NOT show up in my pee during a drug test... I had to argue with him that I AM taking them and he kept saying they are not showing up!!! So... At least with me it did NOT show in a pee test and this test covers Everything!! They charge me 1200.00 each time I am tested!
I've taken two 10mg flexoril this week and today I failed a pre employment urine test. So unless I'm not allowed to have benadryl, I'm guessing it's the flexoril. I had to pay to have it analyzed by the lab.
I took a 10mg flexeril today and I have to do a urine drug test for probation in 3 days will it show up on the test
With all this yes and no one this it's truly hard to know if it does or not. I'm sure everyone out here is still wondering.
Update: After paying to have it sent off for further analysis, they cleared my results as it did turn out to be Flexoril. The initial screening simply provided a false positive. People can say and believe what they want. It showed up on my pre-employment drug screen
Did you have a prescription for the flexeral? I would suppose you did
Yes, I was in an auto accident and had back spasms so I never even thought about failing the drug test. I told the pee collector about it and she even tested twice. So I paid the $35 to have it further analysed. A few days later I called the laboratory and they told me they already called my company right away as whatever test they use showed it was Flexoril and not an antidepressant. The in office test is basically junk if it can't tell if you're clean or not.
Still never figured out why antidepressants would be a no-no anyway.
Stan, I just had a pre-employment drug screen which tested for TCAs. That is how I ended up on this thread (google search for why an employer would test for TCAs). I mean, luckily for me, I don't take medications that aren't prescribed to me, so I was good anyway. But, just in case someone comes across your misinformation - if you have taken anything you don't have a current script for - save yourself time and the prospective employer money. Keep your a$$ at home, keep clean and then there is no worry.
NO, it does NOT. I get tested every week. Don't talk about things you have no clue about.
NO, it does NOT. I get tested every week. Don't talk about things you have no clue about. People who claim they are being testing for TCA's in pre-employments tests are full of sh!t.
I'm a RN as well; and she is 100% correct. A 12 panel tests for tricyclics antidepressants. Flexeril isn't an anti depressant; however it's derivatives have some of the same properties as the tricyclic family. We are not just per collectors. We can save your ass with our six years of full time school which is hell. Nurses can make or break you! I can't help if you're going to fail your test. Sounds like you didn't do your homework! LOL

Re: OB Nurse (# 43)
Flexeril does show up as a TCA on a 12 strip test. It happened to me.
Re: ckala (# 42)
Came back “positive” for what? I am a Obgyn nurse and run blood work daily but we must order what we want to test for. The only reason we would run a drug panel is IF we suspected a patient was using drugs that endangered the fetus and had not disclosed that to us. You are either flagged as a high risk patient for drug abuse (that’s not judgment— if so TELL your doctor they can help protect Mom and baby) or you are having symptoms that the doctor can’t diagnose so testing for drugs to see if that is the issue. But drugs of any kind don’t show up on regular blood tests or urine tests for prenatal visits.
Re: dj35 (# 1)
Flexeril can make a false positive show up on blood test. I went to the doctor a month ago for routine pregnancy visit and had been put on flexeril a couple days before at an urgent care. I had to do blood work at my pregnancy visit and went back today (a month later) and doctor said my blood results came back positive since I was on the flexeril....
Re: Mike DO (# 4)
Yes they do test for TCA in urine. It is quite common in our ER. Oh I am a MLT too, so I know.
Re: Belden (# 11)
Benadryl can cause a false pos for benzodiazepine it happened to me twice
if flexerill stays in your system for 3.75 days does that mean you are still under the influence. Can it effect your judgment
Pre employment urine tests are only 5 panels just like a dot test, which I've been tested by dot for 18 years and muscle relaxers do NOT show up on urine 5-panel tests! Anyone who says different is full of s***!
You are wrong about that. 10 and 12 panel Urine screens test for benzodiazepines (anti depressant) and flexeril will show in the TCA catagory (antidepressants)
