Finally Cymbalta Free!

Updated

Hi all, just wanted to let people know that this drug is horrible! I was on it for five years for neuropathic pain, look it was good for that ! But then I started suffering depression to the point of having to be hospitalized for suicidal thoughts, I couldn't sleep at nights and just felt like I was going crazy! Finally my psychologist said to go off these drugs, I was worried! Very worried in fact, because I knew what the effects were like even after missing a tablet one day. So I took two weeks off work, I knew this was a safe place to be and was able to be in my bed if needed, I started on a Friday by not taking one of my two tablets (I was on two 60mg pills) then the next night I took my two pills... The next night one, then I started missing a nights worth every 2nd night. The 2nd week by the Wednesday I decided to go cold turkey! I experienced a few eye flutters and feeling dizzy... But nothing of what I thought! By the third week I was back at work, not feeling 100% but ok. Now I'm completely off the drug!! And not on any replacement antidepressants! But I have been placed on endep for my pain.. Head wise I feel the best in a long time!! I hope if anyone wants to get off it to just make sure you have time off work and in a environment with people to help support you... Good luck.

Hello, Tammy! How are you doing? I am very sorry about what you experienced.

Sadly, these medications are known to cause depression and suicidal thoughts in some people that take them, as reported by the U.S. FDA, which usually necessitates that someone stop taking them.

However, you should be aware that Endep is also an antidepressant. It contains the active ingredient Amitriptyline. It is a tricyclic antidepressant that is also used to treat anxiety and some forms of nerve pain.

Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes.

Did your doctor not inform you of this?

I have been in cymbalta for over ten years. I initially started taking the drug for pain from R.A. & fibromyalgia. I tried to stop taking it in preparation for possibly losing my health insurance. I am a registered nurse. I did my research. But, the side effects are so severe, and too many to list. I'm not human anymore. I can't get off this drug. If you don't have to start it, don't.
