I was taking the fentanyl patch for a month at 50mcg every 72 hours. Then pain management dropped the ball and I was not able to get the patch again. My body feels achy, numb and I feel horrible!! Sunday was the ending day of the patch cycle. ## I was using fentanyl patches from 50/75/100 for 3yrs for back pain. I have just had a major back op and i need two new hips. I was on 400 ug per day and still in agony. Now I'm on the 125 patch. I didn't want opiates because of the change of physiology. I had encephalitis last June and lost around 4 years of memory. I don't want to go any higher for fear of dying but i have to work. Will amphetamines affect the fentanyl? ## Fentanyl is an opiate narcotic. Should a 12mcg/hr Fentanyl patch last longer than 6-7 hrs? Any and all input is welcomed, regardless of medication being delivered. So about 4 years ago my pain doctor tried to put me on a fentanyl patch and unfortunately I couldn't get the patch to stick longer than 20 minutes. It never worked out. Now, I am in Colorado which is drier than the Gobi, and I don't tend to use a lot of lotion yet I cannot get patches to stick to me. Apparently I'm oily or just so slick nothing sticks? ha Anyway, I'm looking for thoughts and info on how to make a patch stick. I'm also wondering how to get adhesive and any product used to make the patch stick residue off my skin. I will be going on butran patches tomorrow and naturally I can't just slap some duct tape over it AND it's a 7 day patch. If a 2 day one didn't keep...7 days...

Is this medication prescribed for certain patients only? I have seen some kind of program. You have to be in rims access program prescribers patients, and the pharmacies have to take an internet class. ## Yes, I took fentanyl for fifteen yrs orally and now just patches. The form is easy - just fill it out and have your Dr. fill one. If he prescribes fentanyl he is already registered, then most major pharmacies will be registered. If not call rims and they can tell you what pharmacies near you are. my patch keeps coming off prematurely. can you recommend a solution? ## You can buy Tegaderm at Walgreen's, it's an occlusive dressing and apply it over the patch and as long as you don't have adhesive allergies it should hold through showers, etc. until the next patch is needed. Sometimes happens, may ask doctor about changing brands, some do better than others, good luck. ## I had the same problem.Went to Walgreen's and purchased Nexcare (I believe that's the brand). I don't understand why I have to suffer so much and I've lost out on so much in life. It doesn't seem fair. I live in southeast ky. I need a doctor close by. Can someone please tell me where I can find a doctor who is not afraid to prescribe fentanyl patches and 10/325 hydrocodone? Due to all the changes that went into affect last year, my doctor has been cutting back on my dosages and my pain has been gradually increasing with each decrease. Just as we found the right combination and I had a nearly two year pain-free life these changes came about and now I am back dealing with pain and my doctor is afraid to treat me as an individual vs the masses. Will Fentanly show up on a urine screen at the pain clinic? They used Fentanly to sedate me for a procedure and then I had to give a urine screen. ## Just take your record showing what drug or drugs you were given for sedation or pain by an actual doctor's order and they can't say anything. ## It is an opiate narcotic, so yes, it will most likely show up, so it would be best to disclose that you were given it, and produce the medical records showing why it was given. I have been on Methadone for about 5 years. I had an addiction to oxycontin and the went on methadone to quit. My highest dose was 120mg and I have managed to wean myself down to 17mg. The problem is I am having a really hard time getting off of it. Doing some reading I have learned that methadone is one of the worst for trying to quit. I have a perscription for 12mcg/h fentanyl for back pain which I havent been using but was thinking about quiting the methadone and using the patch instead so when I eventually drop it the withdraws won't be as bad. I'm getting a Bronchoscopy and I'm wondering how long a single dose of Fentanyl stays working in my system? I'm guessing three days but I'm not sure of the dose. I don't use any opiates or drugs at all but have to take a urine for a study 4 days later. I was on Actiq for 15yrs then my Dr. retired and the new replacement Dr. switched me to subsys. Every month I would ask to go back on lozenges (sucker type/lollipop). Then jan 5th of this yr 2016. he stopped treating me cold turkey.....I should say abruptly stopped. The quality of my life has gone down hill. I have to broken hips (femoral head off). i am on oxycodone 15mg 4 times a day and 30mgs of methadone. I now added a 75mg patch of Fentanyl. Will the patch work? Will i feel the patch? It's been on for 3 hours and i don't feel any different. ## I'm on 30 to 40 mgs of methadone daily and 15 mgs of oxycodone daily. I ran out of my meds and cant fill my them until tomorrow. My Fentanyl patch burns my arm and makes my arm and fingers hurt terribly. I put it on my back and the pain was so bad I ended up at the hospital. When I took a breath my left side hurt so bad I could only take little breaths - Did anyone else have this problem? I have chewed little pieces of my fentanyl patch to help with immediate pain relief. However I see the pain management doctor in 4 days and will have to take a urine test. I have put one on my arm and am not chewing onthem however, will my levels be off and cause me to fail the test or will the fentanyl I used orally be out of my system by then?
