We moved from Connecticut down to Florida, with medical charts in hand. We were told in Connecticut that we could go into any CVS/Walgreens stores to refill prescriptions, as it's a universal drug store. Now, I know the Duragesic Patch cannot be refilled through the system and must be handwritten and handed to the pharmacist. We complied with those rules (Florida having many!). We went to CVS, they looked up my mother's record and saw that she indeed has the Duragesic Patch. I handed them the script and it took them 10 long days to get it in. We then decided after that experience we would use Walgreens down the road from our home. We went in, explained the experience we had with CVS, they rolled their eyes and told us it would only take 3 days at the most with them. So, when it ...

Hello. I've recently had my doctor retire due to health reasons. And I can't seem to find a doctor that will write me a script for fentanyl. Can anyone help me please before I go in tomorrow to see yet another doctor to try and get a script for fentanyl. I've heard they are a massive improvement on oxycontin? So really really hoping someone out there can help with some sure fire symptoms or at least some advice to help. Thank you ## Shero, I am not being judgmental but the manner in which you posed your question is very troubling. Seeking "sure fire symptoms", (your exact words) means that you are entering into the new relationship with the Doctor in a deceitful manner. Your prior doctor, who you said retired, should have an extensive file on their treating of you. I...

So I live about 20 miles outside st. louis, missouri and seen a new pain management dr. He prescribed me the same thing my intern dr. gave me which was 50mcg fentanyl every 48 hours. He also prescribed me percocet 10/325 which doesn't agree with me nor anything in that class of meds, and I remember darvocet, which back in the early 90's 3 dr's were giving them to me n I was young n dumb then and it was the first pain pill I ever took. I was getting 180 a month u know that n between drinking at 29 I almost ended up dying from liver failure. The dr's could not believe that I walked in the er on my own much less that I was still alive as my liver stopped working. My enzymes we're like 6200. I was like is that high? Well put this way I don't know how many dr's ca...

My friend is on Probation and took fentanyl yesterday. He had to take an oral swab drug test today. Will the fentanyl show up on it? ## Yes. Unless your friend is superhuman it should and most likely will show positive for opiates. ## Listen. i can't stand when people make a comment about something they don't know anything about. so i just want u to tell ur friend this. i have been getting tested for six months now. I'm on drug court probation and i deal w cps and chemical dependency. all my tests get sent to a lab every week. i have gone with one in my mouth that same day and days before the tests and it DOES NOT. show up. Unless they take a poop sample or they suspect ur taking it, so if u are keep it on the low, there's a special test they have to send out for so your...

i take oxycottin 80 mgs 3 times a day i also take oxycodone 30mgs 5 times a day both prescribed by a doctor. I get drug tested every month both by urine than by a lab if i use a fentanyl patch will it show as that in my test? ## It depends on the type of test they do, but if Fentanyl is included in the panel, then yes, it will show up, if you use it near the time of the test. Most narcotics are only detectable for approximately 4 to 5 days, after last dosing. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Fentanyl WILL NOT appear on a simple Five Panel immunoassay as ANYTHING. Won't show up. Period. Source: just passed with a 75mcg patch, all tests negative. Happy testing! ## Will fentanyl show up in my urine test if I touched a patch? ## I take opana all my meds was stolen all I got...

Hello, I am on fentanyl patch 50mcg. I think i got longer times on same medicine with pill medicine. This is longer times i have been on the medicine before needing an adjustment to a higher medicine. can you get tolerant faster on a patch verses a pill pain medicine? If a person naturually can heat up does the patch dump more medicine in the body and thus run out earlier then total three days? I also notice if you have lost muscle tone it seems the patch doesn't stick as well. IF the muscle is more away from the body could affect how medicine is delivered in body? I notice i can't water walk at all for if water gets to the patch i need another one before my time is up or more times when doesn't seem to work as well if water gets on it. I never take another patch but this is...

Can fentanyl 50 mcg/h and morphine sulfate cr 30 mg tab, be taken together at the same time? ## Have you consulted a doctor? Where they prescribed to be used together? Since these are both controlled release medications, they are rarely used together, in this manner, due to the risks it can cause, since they both cause depression of the central nervous system. This is usually only done in cases of very severe, chronic pain, where the person has already built up a tolerance to the narcotics and is no longer getting effective relief from them. Normally, if someone is using the Fentanyl patch and requires a medication for breakthrough pain, they are given a regular release or instant release medication. ## Did a doctor prescribe these? If so, did one doctor prescribe the morphine and one t...

I have multiple horrendous back problems, to say the least. I used to be on fentanyl patches, somas, percs, and methadone before the patches. I live in a very rural area and the drs make it clear that they no longer prescribe narcotics period. That's so unfare. I despertly need pain relief. Plz help. ## Hello, Aimer! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain and having such a problem. There were new regulations put in place last year that restrict what PCPs can prescribe, so you will need to find a pain management specialist to continue such medications. Have you tried asking your current doctor to refer you to someone? And can you please post back with your general area of PA? I am originally from there and may know of some doctors you can try in your area. This is a ...

Aloha from Hawaii- this is my 6th week off fentanyl patch 100mg and breakthrough oxy 40mg day for several years. Also was on Valium. So, I went through a medical detox, but still have the following symptoms and I hope they aren't permanent: - hand tremors - T.M.J. ( tension in jaws) - stoned feeling - electricity - tension running through my body, twitching, spasms - insomnia Any body know if I am doomed? Maui Girl ## I am trying to handle going off 25mg fentanyl patches on my own. My doctor wants me to continue using them. My quality of life was going down hill. She had me change patches every 48 hrs and it seemed my body was sucking most of it out in 24 and I was sleeping alll the time. It has been a week since I had a patch on and the withdrawal is hell. I am a 33 yr old woman being treated by Pain Mgmt Dr. for chronic pain as a result of 3 failed elbow surgeries and nerve damage. My current dosage is 50mcg/hr every 48 hrs with up to 4 oxycodone per day for break through pain. I know the patch is suppose to be a good medication for pain control, but I am really considering asking to change to a different medication because of the sweating problems I have on the Fentanyl and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am constantly drenched sinced I have been on the patch. Dr tried hytrin to control sweating, but all that did was cause me to bloat. I tried HRT for a year to see if that would help...no luck, still sweating. I sleep with only a sheet over me and window open at night and still wake up soaked from sweat. If I do a...

That's probably your best bet.you don't want to ask for fentanyl by name bc most docs will view this as drug seeking behavior, Hope you find relief soon. Regards, Kenie...

Hi I am on 25MCG Patches do you ever get used to the weird feeling in your head, or is that the trade off for no pain? ## You mean they actually take you pain away? Do they make you sick to your stomach? If your only problem is a bit of a funny feeling in your hear, then I would say, deal with it. But be careful if you go out driving. If you are pulled over, and act kind of drunk, you will get a DUI. ## All the funny feelings will go away with time. Make sure your Dr. Will continue to treat you and not decide one day you don't need it no more when nothings changed. You'll get sick for a good four days from the withdrawal. No sleep, restless leg syndrome etc. great pain reliever just don't abuse it and it'll work great and in a short time you won't even know you have ...

Besides being on the patch. It seems after the second day on the night before I change it every 3 days, I have much pain, and can not sleep. Where I live, not many stock this, and it seems I get a different one (brand) every month. My actual question is, can I get the patch and use them every two days, instead of three? It would make my life so much better, and always having to call my Dr. a day or two before visits. I know I had read it takes some time without it. Not for me. I feel the withdrawals within 10-12 hours. Thank you. ## Yes, it can be changes as often as every 48 hours, instead of every 72. There are many people that have to use it that way, especially once they become tolerant to the higher dosage every 3 days and it is no longer effective, which seems to be exactly what y...

I have been seeing a pain management specialist for about a year. We have tried just about every extended release along with breakthrough opioid oral medications, always inching from lowest dose to higher. But I also have severe chronic digestive problems which makes it very difficult to take oral medications . So my doctor put me on the fentanyl patch, but on day three I developed such a migraine headache I thought my eye would pop out. Is this a common side effect from fentanyl, and would it occur that long after application of the patch? It should be mentioned that on day three I also developed a case of shingles, so I am unsure which was the cause of the headache, the patch or the shingles. So my doctor put me back on the oral meds, but we're back to square one since I still hav...

When I was going crazy with pain and looking for relief ,the patch was a Godsend.I started the patch at 25mcg about 7 years ago, I am now on .75mcg.,and using percocet for breakthrough.I have stopped the Percocet because of the similar affects on the stomach I have become plagued with bowel obstructions and Opiod induced constipation ,have resorted to double dose laxtives and Citro-mag every other day in order to go to the bathroom. On a soft diet for last 4 months and losing weight,Ensure and Gravol have become my new best friend.I would kill for some KFC.Problem is I am going for nerve blocks in a couple of weeks, hoping to reduce the strength of the patch needed, hoping that will help with the bathroom problems. I am terrified about going through withdrawal.Going from 75mcg to 50 mcg se...

I was on 25mcg Fentanyl patches for about 2 months. I went down to 12mcgs to wean myself. After the 12s ran out, I was extremely sick for about 4 days. It's now been 2 weeks since the sickness of withdrawal, but every now and then, I have weird symptoms like nausea, rapid heart beat, jitteriness, insomnia, that last usually a few hours then go away. Is it possible that I am still feeling the effects of the Fentanyl withdrawal? ## Hello, Husky! How are you feeling? Yes, they can linger for quite awhile and, just like you've experienced, they tend to taper off in severity. Things should steadily continue to improve. However, if they don't, or if they start to get worse, please be sure to contact your doctor. This is a very potent narcotic, so you do have to be very cautious. L...

I have been on Fentanyl patch the 50 for about 3 years and kept telling the doctor I was having side effects. I am being weaned off to see if it is the Fentanyl. I become very agitated, and can not sleep. The first day the patch ws applied i had vivid dreams, ichy and burning skin, I also feel like i am going crazy and feel like an overdose. I am now down to 93 pounds. The doctor is slowly weaning me but I am still having withdrawls at times. Has anyone else had these side effects and will the withdrawls get worse or better? ## If you are doing a slow taper, then they will not get much worse, just keep following your doctor's instructions. ## Yes I am in the boat. I really don't know how long I can stay on the patches because of these problems. The dreams freak me out and the sw...

I moved to Winston Salem about 18 months ago. I'm currently driving 5 hours each month to see a primary care Dr who prescribes me fentanyl 100mcg x 48 hours + oxycodone 20mg 3day for breakthrough pain (which I feel I need to be bumped up bc since my gastric bypass my stomach only absorbs 1/3 of anybody oral meds). I'm a 3 time cancer survivor and barely make it doing regular household functions. I also have pinched sciatica nerves slipped disk herniated rupture disks cluster headaches degenerated disk disease. I'm willing to drive a couple hours away and can pass all pill counts and drug checks. I prefer a primary care that treats pain or a pain management doctor w self referral. I knocked about 2 weeks worth of dilaudid down my sink by accident when I was brushing my teeth yesterday morning. I saved 4 pills. I take 4mg-4x per day and was switched last month from morphine to fentanyl 25mcg patches every 72 hours. I have been on the dilaudid for 5 months. I'm very concerned about the withdrawal I'm going to go thru without my meds. Do you think the patch and a few leftover morphine pills from last month will help my situation? Will they make the withdrawal go away faster? I also have 2 subutex pills that are older. Should I take the subs or will they put me in a precipitated withdrawal with the patches? I don't see my doctor for 13 days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please help. ## Please be careful with the fentanyl. I'm going thru so...
