I took a Fentenyl patch 100 mcg. and cut it in fourths. It helped tremendously with my horrible back pain. I need to know how long this stays in my system. T Y ## Hi Frankie, If this is in regards to drug testing, information I've gathered states that Fentanyl can be detected in your urine for up to 8-24 hrs after your last dose. -It can be detected in your blood for up to 12 hours after your last dose. -It can be detected in your saliva for up to 1-2 days after your last dose. -It can be detected in your hair for up to 90 days after your last dose. Hopefully this info can give you a rough estimate of how long the drug remains in various parts of your system (at least at a detectable level). Has anyone else experienced different time frames for getting Fentanyl out of your system, o...

Has anyone out there come off of fentanyl delivered thru a pain pump?? I've gone from 1.9 mcg/day to .385. At what point can the pump be safely shut down. I'm going to have the pump removed soon. But feel my Dr is not sure how to completely get me off it. ## Are you not seeing a pain specialist then? Because they should be specially trained in handling this type of thing. It's really difficult for anyone else, including a general practitioner, to know, because much of it depends on you and how severely you react to the withdrawal of such medications. I have been on Fentanyl patches for six years increasing dosages every couple years getting to 100mcg/hr q48. For the past three months I am sick, sleeping for 14 hrs at a time, with increased pain in my feet and legs on the second day. The first day on a new patch I feel exceptionally well with diminished pain. Is there a life issue with patches? Do others have this to happen to them? ## There have been other people with similar complaints about some of the patches. They are supposed to be time released for 72 hours, but many people have to change them sooner to maintain adequate levels of pain relief. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Is this the only pain medication you use, or are you on something else for breakthrough pain? ## I am on Oxcodone for break thru pain. I only time have ...

How long does it take for fentyl to not show up in your baby after stopping it ## Hi Dee, To answer your question, Fentanyl can reportedly be detected in your urine for up to 8-24hrs after your last dose. Keep in mind though that this is only an estimate, since each individual may react or metabolize this drug differently. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## After removing a 100mcg fentanyl patch, how long will it take for all remains of the drug including inert identifiers to show in a bllod/or urine test?

I was on 75 for over 9 years with still getting pain even with changing patch everyother day yeah know it's a three day patch. May of this year started with acupuncture dr three times a week. Started weaning self off the drug by delaying the changing of the patch. It is now August and happy to say since middle of July done with fentanyl. Yes still have pain but trying to just take two Tylenol or a percoset one if really can't stand it, I change positions more when sitting, walk as much as possible ## Sounds like you're doing everything right! :-) In many cases, people that suffer from chronic pain get very sedentary, not realizing that it actually makes their pain much worse, because joints stiffen and unused muscles begin to atrophy. Getting more exercise can greatly improv...

Hi, I started using a 12 mcg fentanyl patch about a month and a half ago for chronic pain. I never abused them and I always changed them every 72 hours like I was prescribed to. Well I decided that it was time to get off the patch and tried one day to take it off and a few hours later I started to experience "the flu times ten" I was told by my doctor that my body had formed a dependency to the drug and if I was ready to get off then he wants to wean me off. Well he prescribed me to dilaudid 4mg and he said as soon as I take the patch off to take half off my first dilaudid. The first day I take a half every 6 hours.. the next 2 days I take a half every 8 hours.. then the next 2 days after that its a half every 12 hours.. then the next 2 days after that its a half daily. I'm ...

pain patch ## Please send information on the drug sentanyl. Side effects etc. ## I think you are talking about the drug Fentanyl. Please see the info page on that medicine... ## Please send all information you have on the pain patch called Sentanyl. ## Hi Stacy, The pain patch is actually called Fentanyl (with an F). It is most often used for post surgical pain in the hospital. ## Fentanyl is a very, very strong opiate narcotic for severe pain. It is most commonly used for cancer patients who are suffering chronic pain. This medication is 80 times stronger than Morphine, so very dangerous, many side effects and highly addictive. ## sentanyl is not fentanyl, I too am trying to fine info on sentanyl ## Sentanyl IS a new pain med. I don't know if its even on market yet, but there are c...

Hi, I am having another spinal fusion on Aug 1st L4-L5-S1 for failed fusion. I have been told yes and no when I asked my different dr offices about leaving my patch on during surgery. Do I or not? I am terrified of doing the wrong thing and causing complications with anesthesia. Does anyone have any experience with this? If so, please tell me! Thanks, Kimber. ## Hi kimber, This question would actually be best answered by the surgeon himself or the person administering the anesthesia, rather than a regular medical doctor. If in doubt though, I would just go with your gut and leave it off during the surgery. The anesthesia in and of itself should be sufficient, but I'm sure they will provide you with additional pain management during the procedure if necessary. My mom actually had thi...

i have recently heard of people scraping the powder off the patch and burning it and either snorting or injecting it please tell the people that are abusing this how dangerous this can be. Or tell of an experience someone may have had due to the abuse of the patch this way.scared to death for my son. ## There are several dangers associated with abusing medications in this manner. The first, of course, is the risk of overdosage. Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, it is so potent that it is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. That means even a small amount can be too much for most people. Overdosing can result in permanent injury to your organs, including the heart and, in some cases, it can be fatal. The next issue is the fact that these time released patches contain substanc...

ever since i started taking fentantyl patch 25mgs i have been showing up on the ion scanner for herion,my doctor states that it is an opiate and that is why.Is this correct, please let me know because they have taken my visitation rights away, plus i take other medications due to health problems. ## Actually, fentanyl is not an opiate, and would not show up as an opiate at all on a urine test....your Dr would know this.... ## There's actually a lot of conflicting information out there as to whether Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid, opiate, or some other type of opioid antagonist. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (a US government funded resource page), Fentanyl is regarded as a powerful synthetic opiate. Another government webpage defines Fentanyl as a synthetic opioid (...

Hi i have been on the 50mcg patch for 2 months now and the provide much more relief than the mscontin 30mg did. I also get 180 10/325 percosets a month for breakthrough but am worried about my liver because of all th tylenol. I am going to talk to my doc about switching to a 10 or 15 roxi to give me some peace of mind im only 39 and have had 2 fusions done L4-L5 and L5-S1 if any one can give me any advice on something that might help better id appreciate it Thank You. ## The Roxicodone is an option, if your doctor agrees, because it is just the Oxycodone in a regular release formulation and doesn't have any Acetaminophen. Learn more Roxicodone details here. Another option you may want to ask them about would be Dilaudid, it contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, so it's a...

is fentanyl prescription only? ## Hi Willy, To answer your question, yes, Fentanyl patches are available by prescription-only; at least here in the US it is. I'm not aware of other countries laws or regulations regarding this medication. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opiate analgesic similar to but more potent than morphine. It is typically used to treat patients with severe pain, or to manage pain after surgery. It is also sometimes used to treat people with chronic pain who are physically tolerant to opiates. It is a schedule II prescription drug. Learn More: Fentanyl Details I hope this info helps!

Where can I find pain mgmt doctor in Philly. I have had six knee surgeries since i was 17, I am now 24. I deal w chronic pain every day. It is horrible. ## Hi Danielle, I may not have a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in locating pain management doctors in your general area. All you have to do is input your city or zip code for narrowed results: {link removed because site no longer exists} You can give this other page a try too if you come up with different results for some reason or another: wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist Many of the results you find (in one or both of the links above) also list a phone number for that specific doctor; I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are acc...

Can anyone advise me on a pain management physician somewhere in or around Virginia that is willing to treat with Fentanyl Patch for pain control? I have severe lordosis, pinched nerve (inoperable) and have received multiple steroid injections at both L5 and L2. The Lumbar pain has only worsened with severe Sciatica down my left leg to my left foot. I was actually discharged from the Marine Corps at age 19 for severe back pain, which over the years has responded to oral steroids, but no longer. I am being prescribed Vicodin for pain 2 tabs every 4 hours. However, the pain control is not consistent due to sleep, and I also fear taking 5 Grams/Tylenol every day. I just feel that being placed on a fentanyl patch makes more sense than constant refills of Vicodin and having to stop to take t...

My Dr. prescibed me Fentanyl 75 X/J patches I don't understand what the X/J means?? Can someone help me out?? ## Did ever discover what this meant? i opened my last fentanyl patch and got most of the gell out. i have a ua in 15 days. will the rest of the gell be good? i go to a pain mang. and it needs to be in my urine. ## i have been going to a pain mang. and was perscribed fentanyl patch. a few days ago i opened my last and got most of the gell out. i have to tak a drug screen every time i go. i to the doctors in about 12 days. will the gell go bad,or will there still be some left in the patch so on the day i go so it will be in my ua? ## There are two problems you may run into. The first is that the urine tests don't just check for the presence of the drug, but also of the metabolites, which only appear after it has been processed through your body. The second is that your levels will most likely be off, since you haven'...

i used a fentynal 50 mg patch, ive never used one before will it be out of my system in 4 weeks for a ua test ## It should be, Fentanyl is usually only detectable in a standard urine test for approximately 2 days, after last usage. Though it can vary from person to person, depending on your individual metabolism, overall health, fluid intake, activity levels and etc. Are there any other questions or comments?

After epidural injections for pain in my spine/neck, I experienced extreme reactions to fentanyl anesthetic while in the post op. recovery room but the medical staff had no idea what to do or even the equipment to do it with. The medical staff seemed utterly helpless and suspected I had heart problems or some other "mysterious" condition and wanted me to go see my regular doctor or go to an emergency room RIGHT AWAY! I did go to my regular doctor who said I was just having a drug reaction (it was already wearing off) and I should not be given that drug again. I have since researched Fentanyl anesthetic and it's side effects-complications and every one of my symptoms is mentioned in the medical literature up to and including the possible Fentanyl antagonist that the surgical ...

I have been on the Fentanyl 25mcg patches for about a month and a have. My doctor switched me to the 50mcg patches but after two of them I was moved back down to the 25's because they were too strong. My pain is almost gone so I want to get off of the patches but I don't have enough money (no insurance) to keep buying them or to see the PM Doc again. I have 5 25 mug patches left. Is there any possible way to ween myself down to zero with minimal to no withdrawal symptoms after? I am desperate to be done with all of these pain killers! Please help! ## After such a short period of time, the withdrawal effects should be minimal, though you're likely to still experience some, since this is such a potent narcotic. And as to a way to taper, there's really no way to do that eff...

having trouble with rashes and not sticking fentanyl patch. is there something new out there similar ## Have you checked with your pharmacy? I suspect that you may have received the patches from a different manufacture than those you were used to using. There may be a different inactive ingredient in the glue, that's causing the rash and inability to stick. And no, this is really the strongest medication on the market. You can, however, ask the pharmacy about ordering other ones in for you. ## marelen, I just stumbled on this site, I usually post on another. But, I had the same thing, rashes and the patches not sticking after wearing them for awhile. The doctor prescribed me a nasal spray called Fluticasone or Fluconase that I spray on the site were I applied the patch. It worked fo...
