Hello. I suffer from several back/neck issues and I was prescribed 50 mcg fentanyl patches i have been wearing the patch for alittle over 24 hours and it seems like it is already wearing off...Is this possible? And if it is, what would be causing this?! I am starting to feel pain again and i don't want to just stick another patch on because I have heard they are very dangerous. Before these patches I was prescribed 15 mg oxycodone without acetaminophen but grew too much of a tolerance to them, plus they didn't really help the pain in the first place. After the doctor prescribed me the Fentanyl I filled the prescription and put one on...It wasen't until 12 hours after that I felt some relief and like i said before it is already wearing off it seems like and I have only had th...

Over the past couple of months I have been having little black outs. I don't pass out or anything I don't fall down, I just go into a dream state and I am sleeping. I always have a dream and when I come back I have to stop for a minute to decide is the dream real or is what I am doing real. I am even doing this when I am talking to people. I am afraid I am going to loose my job. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Could it be from the Fentanyl? I use patches - 75 mgs ever 24 hours. Thank you, Please help me. ## Hello, Margaret! How are you doing? There is a chance that you may be experiencing focal point, or partial seizures. They often manifest that way, so it's very important that you have this checked out by your doctor, as soon as possible. It could be dangerous, ...

Long story, but....I've been on Fentanyl 50mcg patch for over 3 months and Roxicodone 15mg for several years for break-thru pain. I do not get loopy or high from either of these, am simply able to walk without the use of a cane (which is wonderful since I'm only 37). I haven't had a job for just over 3 years and finally landed an interview today that looks promising. Hiring manager stated they require saliva & hair follicle test for employment...I did tell her I was on the medication and that it does not cause me to be "loopy or high" as the stigma surrounding these medications state. Told her they simply take care of my pain which allows me to walk. My worry...if these medications show up in the drug test, is it possible to still pass considering I will be bring...

Pill is the same color all the way through! Never saw this with a Oc, Abg, or the CDN's years ago but I think they might be fake! Can u help me find out please! ## A person I know has the cdn green all the way through. They are and are not fake. To explain...there is an active opioid ingredient usually fentanyl or some benzodiazepine combo. Some actally contain oxy as well. The real ones just like usa made are white after removal of coating.....still worth it for most people ironically. I recommend not taking something you are not sure about for sake of harm reduction the ones I have seen.....today are still worth it. New England area near Canadian border. Personal experience with them

If a patient has used Fentanyl 12.0 mcg/h for a long time, how can they wean off of it? It's the lowest dosage, so how are the withdrawals managed and how long does it take? My husband wants to quit using it and will be seeing a pain management specialist soon, but I'd like to know what's in store for him/us if anyone else has already gone through this. ## How is your husband doing? It would probably be best to use some other medication to help mitigate the withdrawals, because Fentanyl is very potent, so they could be dangerously severe. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What has he been advised to do?

what would happen if I ate an expired fentanyl lollipop? Are they less potent? What happens to them after its passed its expiration date? ## Hello, Jillian! How are you? This medication doesn't get dangerous, once it's expire, but yes it does start to lose effectiveness. It is best to dispose of expired medications and see your doctor for a new prescription. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I want to get off of MALLINCKRODT Fentanyl 50 mcg patches but the last time I tried to go down to 25mmg I went threw serious withdraws . That's why I was wondering if just going down 3-5 percent might be less withdrawals. Could anyone give me some insight? ## Hello, Richard! How are you? You can't cut the patches to lower your dosage, because they are time released and that could cause you to get too much of the medication at once. Have you tried stretching out how often you change them? That may be an idea, if your doctor approves. This is a very potent narcotic, so I think some withdrawals may be inevitable.

Can I get my fentanyl patches filled in Florida if it was written in Texas? ## Hi Debra! Some pharmacy's will do it and some won't. If u can, get it filled b 4 u leave 2 another state. If not, ask your pharmacist if u can do that. ## Hello, Debra! How are you? You will have the best results if you get them filled where you usually do. There are 2 issues at play here, one is that there is a limit on how much of any controlled substance a pharmacy can stock each month, so they have to prioritize for their regular customers. The next issue is that most pharmacies require that both you and the doctor be located within a certain radius, so they can more easily verify the validity of the prescription. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may ca...

Hi I am on 37 mcg of fentanyl patch, I was on a 50mcg and a 12 , I weaned myself slowly cutting my patch, my pain doctor doesn't want me to do that, so I went down a 12 mcg .. Sun now it's wed and withdrawal is starting and I feel miserable, I guess my question is, is there something to ease these symtoms, I was on them for fibro and then they say opiads don't work for fibro because over time it makes pain worse.. I don't know? I'm just trying a new path , has anyone had experience with this? ## Hello, Debra! How are you feeling? I'm sorry that you're miserable. Since you still have some and aren't just doing a full withdrawal, the symptoms should only last a week or so. However, if they are really severe, you should talk to your doctor about what you can...

I take 200mg oxicodone it doesn't touch the pain now I also take 20mg breakthrough what else can I use to take the pain away ## Hello, Memeu! How are you feeling? I am very sorry that you're in pain. Do you happen to know if Fentanyl is available where you live? It is a very potent narcotic in a time release patch that may help you. It is something you should ask your doctor about. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

i am currently on 25mg fentanyl patches, my dr spoke to me about changing my medication, he is suggesting ER MORPHINE TABLETS taken 12hourly, am I going to manage my pain successfully? we haven't discussed strength so what will be at least equivalent or a little stronger as i'm having breakthrough pain ## I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS, GOOD OR BAD, AS I HAVE A DR'S APP SOON AND WANT TO BE WELL ADVISED.THANKYOU ## Hello, Kim! How are you? You only need 7.5mgs of Morphine to equal each patch of Fentanyl, though you will take it more often, since it doesn't last 3 days, like the patch does. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else...

I have been on traditional American narcotics for more than 10 years to treat pain from advanced degenerative spine and arthritic spiny growths etc. in the spine. By now I am on TWO 75 mcg/hr Fentanyl patches changed every 2 days ( which works out to putting one on a day, yes.) I also had a prescription for the last TWO YEARS and approval for another 9 months for 800mcg Fentora ( a fizzy between the cheek and gum -- GOD! they really worked.) Well, I changed insurance at the insistence of the President and now I can't get the Fentora. Well, that leaves me desperate for relief. I can't afford a 100-150 dollar a day H habit, but NOTHING my doctor offers can help my peak pain. After being on the same dose of Patches for more than 3 years, a lot of that is just handling my addiction....

I've got a pinched sciatic nerve that has gotten progressively worse over the past 6 weeks. Finally went to an ER because the pain became unbearable. I had been trying yoga poses/stretches for the hamstrings. That really didn't help. I was in an ER yesterday, for about 5 hours or so, because after I had got up in the morning I was unable to move without excruciating pain in my right hip down through my right leg..I couldn't move on my own, and the paramedics that picked me up, OMG I was screaming and balling in pain.. Over the course of the 5 hours I was there in the ER, I got injected (through an IV) of FENTanyl 50mg (didn't help). About 40 mins later I got a shot of TORadol (30mg), didn;t help.. FINALLY, around 3:34pm, I got a shot of morphine.. OMG!! Was that the most...

I was going to a pain mgmt doc for over eight years and when I had to go on medicade disablility, I had to change doctors. I loved my doctor, he cared about helping me get better and keeping me out of as much pain as possible. I was taking lortab 10/500 x 5 daily, lyrica 150 x 2 daily and I had really bad headaches and I was taking fiorinal up to 4 daily if needed. I have chronic neck problems. These meds worked just fine cause I didn't want to go to anything stronger cause I knew how hard is was going to be to get off of this when/if my neck got better. My doctor had tried everything he could before we decided on neck surgery. So I went to see the surgeon and he agreed that was about the only option I had left to fix my neck. My neck curves the opposite way that it should and the d...

I dont want them in the junk- or clogging the toilet... It sounds easy to do but how to get rid of a lot of them without people noticing I have them possibly?? ## Dear Aeon, u can bring them 2 a pharmacy and they will get rid of them 4 u. It's supposed 2 be private, where they ask no questions. ## I thought about that though last time I was at the pharmacy they had pamphlets for a day that everyone can bring their unused or expired Meds to some clinic- if you could just bring them to the pharmacy, why would they organize a day that you could do this? ## You can take them to your pharmacy any day and they will dispose of them for you. It doesn't have to be during a special organized event. Is there anything else I can help with? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potenti...

I take 50mcg/h patches I was amazed out how well they worked (Cancer) I have been on Fentanyl for 5 months the first patches hardly worked from a generic company Sadoz. It felt like I was just putting a piece of scotch tape on myself I told my Dr and he explained some story about the drug companies are removing the gel and made this new format (so i have to suffer because he said people were able to get the gel out of the patches?. I filled my last 2 prescriptions at walgreens and they had your brand I was out of pain within a half hour -Are you switching to these flat patches? and if so PLEASE help me find a company that will still carry them !!! ## this site does not manufacture, nor sell any medications, this is an information only website, therefore this site is not switching anythin...

Hello I have been on fentanyl since December. I started having pain at the patch site the last three months. I called my doctor they told me that I was the first one to have this side effects. I was wondering if this a common problem or not. ## No, this is something I've not seen mentioned before. Irritation of the skin has been known to occur at the patch site, but not pain. Do you always apply it so the same spot? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Iv been on the Fentanyl patch 50 mg for about two yrs, use to be be on 150 mg, but didn't want to be on such a high dose , also on percoset10-325. My question is , I wear the patch on my upper arm, sometimes the sight itches, well about 20 mins ago ,the site itched and I guessed I itched it to hard, before I knew it the liquid was all over my arm and hands. I know how serious this medication can be , I'm worried about and over dose. It can sink in the skin and is a strong medication. I did wash my arm and hands with soap and water right after, just scared about an over dose. Anyone have this happen to them ??? ## Hello, Cookie! How are you doing? Please be careful scratching in the future, to prevent it happening, again. However, it isn't like that you absorbed much to put y...

Will chewing fentanyl strips cause tooth decay? Thanks ## When it comes to chewing on the patch, I would think that tooth decay would be the least of your concerns? Tampering with the patch in any way (especially by chewing it) could easily cause a fatal overdose. But if you've noticed any sort of tooth decay at all, I would probably say the best way to counteract it is through proper oral hygiene (frequent flossing) and also staying away from overly processed foods/sugars. Hope this helps!
