False Positive For Oxymorphone While On Suboxone And Trazadone

My husband is taking suboxone after being prescribed morphine for years by a doctor for treatmenmt of migraines. He told the doctor he didnt want o to be on the morphine anymore because it was ascrewing up his lifwe, so then he was put on suboxone. He is not an addict ny nature but given powerful drugs by a doctor to help him and in turn became addicted, the suboxone was given to get off the morphine. He's drug tested at every appointment and his most recent test was positive for oxymorphone which he absolutely did not take. He was also prescribed trazadone by the same doctor to sleep. Is it possible that the combination of suboxone and trazadone has caused a false positive? As of right now they told him they would not refill the suboxone, and he needed to see the doctor again of course when the doctor can see him. This is very bothersome, and I'd like to know if this has hapened to anyone else and how they solved the problem.

The active narcotic in the Suboxone is Buprenorphine, which is a synthetic opiate and, on the non-certified tests that are much less reliable, both the synthetic and semi-synthetic opiates have been known to cause false positives for their relatives. And, in this case, Oxymorphone is another synthetic opiate.

This has happened to many people, because the doctor's offices are not required to use certified tests, thus they usually use a lab that was the cheapest bidder for their business. On these types of tests, false positives can occur anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time.

Please get away from saboxyn its a lie when you went i m sure they told you they were getting you off opiates research it it took me two years then I started research they just lie to get you to take there drug that is very expensive good luck I wish your husband and family well

It's not the trazodone and i would report your dr! It's quite common for the naloxone in suboxone to show up as oxymorphine in a cheap urine analysis...in fact im clean, only take suboxone as directed and it comes up positive for that every time but the dr sends it to a lab and every time the lab result is clean. I'm so tired of drs treating addicts who are seeking help as lower beings. We are their clients, we pay them and should be treated as any other client. If anyone else has this problem insist they send it to a lab or take a mouth swab or hair analysis...we are humans no lower or better than any other and we deserve dignity and respect from all drs... I was kicked off methadone 100mg cold turkey because i was at a very shady clinic that would tell people who got caught to turn in three names of people doing illegal things and they were able to stay on. No proof was needed. 35 people got kicked off the same day as me and we were told they didn't need any reason to do this... Lives were ruined. One person overdosed and died, many others lost jobs, etc..i was the lucky one. I took kratom for 4 days then suboxone for the 4 months i was on the waiting list for the suboxone clinic. Methadone takes forever to get out of your bones. It was miserable. Now i am on a suboxone clinic and i dont talk to anyone there...sorry for the rant...anyways.

To the person saying to not get on suboxone: STOP. suboxone is necessary for life long relapsers. Its way better for you tjan methadone and IT DOES WORK. Everybody is different.some can get clean without this medication but a lot can not. This medication doesnt make me feel high it just allows me to make a life for myself and actually be free of heroin. My drs dont push me to stay on or get off in any time period.its a case to case basis and it gets you out of the junkie "survival mode" . my boyfriend us older than me and has been in and out if prison,homeless, hit any bottom you can imagine hed been to inpatient 23 times.asked to go to prison because he wanted to be away from heroin...a year on suboxone and hes a stand up citizen. An amazing boyfriend and has reconnected with his mother. Hes in a band and living life the way he always dreamed. If he had taken your advice i doubt he'd still be alive.
