False Positive For Oxycodone

I currently take hydrocodone 5mg 4x, albuterol inhaler, ranitadine, vistaril, chantix, mobic, gabapentin and i have a medical marijuana card. I was recently on doxycycline, and nizoral cream. I'm also a caretaker for someone. I handle their medication on an almost daily basis. I went to my doctor and she said i tested positive for oxycodone....there has to be some mistake. Could i have absorbed any from handling the medication

No, you shouldn't absorb enough for it to be detectable on a drug test, since the tablets are coated.

It was more than likely just caused by the Hydrocodone you are taking, if the doctor is using a less expensive, non-certified test. Semi-synthetic and synthetic opiates are well known to cause false positives for their relatives on those types of tests anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time.

I had a Xanax and an roxicet 30mg in the same container for a couple hours and the Xanax was my girl friends, well we both tested positive for each other's meds the following week

I have been on hydrocodone 5, 7.5mg tramadol, phenergan, zoloft, and in hospital they gave me fentanyl and dilaudid, and I showed up dirty for opiates and oxycodone. Is that what it should be shown as?

I also tested positive for oxy and never took it. Wasn't for a job or any legal issues so I'm not too concerned about it. However I also take visteral I wonder if it could be the way our body breaks it down. Did you ever find out?

If you mean Vistaril No it hasn't been routinely reported as a false positive for oxycodone. When false positives occur for Vistaril it is primarily for amphetamines or benzodiazepine.Thats not to say it's impossible but as a former user of this antihistamine type medication I'm unfamiliar with any such findings. Hope that helps some.

Ranitidine will cause a false positive on a urine test.especially if u have just taken it that morning before u go to ur dr and take the urine test..it has made me test positive for amphetamine..

I was accused of taking Oxycodone resulting in a pain mgmt regular SWAB drug test to make sure I am taking my prescribed pain medication and anxiety medication. First time using swab, instead of urine or blood. It came back as me taking my medications correctly, but also that I was taking Oxycodone. I do not and have not taken this Oxycodone they speak of. I ask very innocently, "that's weird, I don't take that and haven't taken that. So how could it show up on my drug testing?" The nurse said very rudely, the only way is if you took the drug. I said there has to be some other reason. So I thought thoroughly what have I done differently this month. I said well I have been to the dentist and had novocaine and otc aleve for my mouth pain. Also I take xycal for my allergies. Oh and the dentist gave me a prescription for an antibiotic for an infected tooth, amoxicillin 4x's daily for 10 days. She was barely listening to me and just kept getting louder saying NO, NO, NO! Nothing would make it show up but if you were taking it.

I have a Brachial Plexus Injury so severe I have no use left in my shoulder, arm or hand. I have a spinal cord injury and cervical injury - I received them all at once. I was in the hospital for 8 months. They would only give me enough medication for one week. I said okay and made me stay there until I could give them only urine this time. I just went before I got to my appt. So it took almost 2 hours for what they said was an adequate amount of urine to send out to the lab. I called my pharmacist from the doctor's office. I was so upset and a little angry for the way I was being treated like some kind of druggy off the streets. The nurse would not allow me to talk to my doctor or even my physician's assistant. I had people with me, as I still can't drive as of yet, if ever. My injuries have progressed into RSD. The pain is unexplainable, it's horrific. Oh, before I forget, I do take synthesis for a thyroid disease called Graves Disease also and sometimes a natural herb called melatonin dissolvable tablets at night to calm me and to try to get a better night's sleep. I can't sleep in many positions due to my very injured arm area-down that side of my whole body. I need help. I DID NOT take this drug I am being accused of.

My pharmacist said a false-positive could happen with those drug strips (better name for them). Put into mouth, sit a couple minutes, take out. New hired aide or LPN took this. At the time, she admitted she never used it on a patient yet. But that day I grabbed her to talk to the RN and she denied it all. I don't know what to do. I am young with two minor children, going through a divorce. I won't be able to function without these medications. I was advised by my doctor when it happened, that I would be on pain medication for the rest of my life. I was very concerned about that. I finally had to accept it and move on and just be lucky I was alive. Please advise me as to how this could happen? I would greatly appreciate it. My next results will take a week to get back, which will be this Friday. I want to be ready if it happens again and still have reasons as to why it could happen. I did find some through Google. I would like to hear from professionals on the topic. Again, thank you for any assistance you can provide me and my specific situation.

I tested positive on a hair test for codeine, hydrocodone and oxycodone. This is impossible because I don't do drugs and I lost custody of my daughter to a man that sexually abused several. I take neurontin, klonopin, duloxetine, seroquel, tylenol pm, amitriptyline and I had cough syrup so I can understand the codeine to some degree. However, the others I'm confused about and now I'm losing custody to a known abuser?! Please shine some light on this.

I am on klonopin .5 mg three times a day and tylenol #4 four times a day. I took a drug test at work and came back positive for morphine and oxycodone and don't take either. They also said it could be from heroin which I have never used. What could cause the false positive?
