Hi Guys I just got this off of Yahoo. I like the part where Canada and Mexico banned the chemical used in the OP's. Call Perdu and Bitch. It's going to kill us or hurt us. Conda.
How long until Perdue Pharma Recalls Oxycontin OP?
Now that it has become clear , that the new Oxycontin OP is not effective for pain MNG. and is causing a Large # of ER and Hospital admits. All complaining of similar difficulty and lack of relief !!! Will perdue Pharma Keep insisting everyone is either a insane in addicted ... Or will they be willing to let go of thier New patent for the Good of the people that supported them in the past ??? Or will they continue to let GREED drive their decision making ..... It is clear to me that this new formulation should have been tested on Humans , in real Pain situations , In combination with digestive aid medications limiting acid production that is required to digest this new plastic PILL .. It is clear to me that this new medication is less than a reasonable option .. I have too many illnesses to mention and have taken the Original Oxycontin since 1996 ,, Ma be there is a place for this TOTALLY NEW med .. But to CALL IT OXYCONTIN is a straight out LIE .. Oxycontin should have been allowed to go Generic and Perdue should concentrate thier effort on finding a NAME for REMOXY and attempting to sell it for What it is .. Rather than remove a medication that provided countless people with pain relief from the market Just to HIJACK it's name .. I for one have filled my last prescription of the Oxycontin OP's and if My medication is not returned to my pharmacy before my next fill I will never purchase another Perdue Product as long as I live :) ... This medication is INDIGESTIBLE as provided .. People are dying DAILY either from lack of pain MNG. or FAILED ABUSE attempts .... Both are MURDER .... I have never abused my medication and feel fortunate .. Canada and Mexico both consider the polymer and HPMC to be known Carcinogens and not allowed in products for human consumption ,, Yet OUR FDA would rather Please a few Mothers that are angry their drug abusing child Died or is hooked on something they purchased illegally ...... WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!! this is going to shorten the life of someone near you ,, if not yourself ...

for people with legit pain i see no reason to get the drugs that are needed. people are treated for diabetes, high blood pressure, ect. why some people have to call others junkies just because they want effective pain relief is bulls--t. maybe the next time they reach for their blood pressure meds, or their Prozac, or birth control, it will be different and not as effective and listen to them bitch and moan.

I have used the Report Abuse link to report 311fan's detailed posting about how to prepare the abuse resistant form of oxycontin for Intravenous drug abuse. Hopefully, it will be removed.

To Pa.girlinpain4life: How can you say you do not abuse oxycontin, when you also say that it took an hour to take effect?

The whole point of oxycontin is no waiting time at all for it to take effect because taken as directed, after the first 24 to 48 hours have passed, oxycontin subsequently maintains a steady state of the drug in your bloodstream so that it never wears off. You don't have to wait for it to take effect. That's what the contin in the name oxycontin means. It's short for continuous. The only time it's effect is not continuous is when you defeat the mechanism that makes it continuous, so that it will have worn off before it is time for the next dose. If you are doing this because you have developed tolerance, rather than to get high, you need to speak to your doctor about adjusting your dosage so that you can have full steady-state round the clock pain relief.

It's understandable that the new drug may be weaker than the old one, but it is still continuous, just at a lower level of relief.

If you have been taking prescribed oxycontin on a continous basis, the concept of it having to take effect (at all) should be what you would complain about, rather than how long it takes to do so. I know it may sound like a subtle distinction, but anybody who has been taking oxycontin as directed knows exactly what I mean,

Use of the phrases take effect and kick in make for an obvious tell, one that is usually coupled with terrible grammar and spelling.

I did not know that this site would eat my double quote marks, so here is the post again, with single quote marks in their place:

You have hit the nail right on the head. Wait until they hit their thumb with the hammer, or develop a spine condition. It won't be Prozac that they are b*tching and moaning for.

You all truly sound like all the abusers I see everyday. When taken as perscribed to treat legitimate pain they work the same way. This isn't a new pill research has been done on this formulation for over 7 years. I feel you people can call to your hearts content but they are more likely to come up with a newer formulation before ever changing back to the old one. But hey maybe if enough addicts call you all can make the world a better place.

To Pharm Tech. This is just what you want to see. A Pharmacy worker with a pre conceived notion of people getting pain meds. I was a bar tender for 10 years and I would say that maybe 1 out of 100 people didn't abuse alcohol. And if that 1 person decided to drink a little too much well, that's alright. We smile and say aww just have a little hair of the dog. You'll be OK. According to you all people on pain meds are addicts / abusers. Well, so are people that drink. But if you are a functional drunk it's all good. Let me tell you, if a beer was $20.00 each you would see a whole bunch of abusers in this country. Pull your head out of your Butt. With an attitude like that, maybe you should be looking for a new profession. Conda

Actually I see the truth of the matter. Non-Legitimate doctors perscribing the same therapy to over 100 different patient all with the exact same therapy. Those same people come up to my pharmacy asking if I have the 512's or the OC's or have even heard Xanibars all coming in with medicaid insurance which means two things. I am paying for your meds so you can turn around and sell them or abuse them. I do know there are legitamate people on these meds and every one that is a customer of mine that I felt that way before have proved it by using the new formulation and saying it works just fine. Because they use it for pain. not money or the high. until you see it everyday don't reply.

Reply to NOTTA JUNKIE, We are not junkies, WE ARE IN PAIN! Count your blessings and be thankful that you do not have to go through what we go through. You obviously do not suffer from pain, so mind your own f-n business. Something is wrong with this new formulation it does not help nearly as much as the old formulation did. So here we go again through trial and error to find something else that will give us a decent quality of life. My prayers are with all who suffer from chronic pain especially those who have cancer or other deadly diseases. I think that patients with a deadly disease should be able to get the old formulation, that's horrible that they should suffer so much on their last days. God bless

YES sometimes we hurt sooo bad that we do experiment. You have no idea what it is like to be in pain every single minute of your day or of your life. Whatever! I hate that people come up here acting like they know whats up and they don't know s***! Before I discovered Oxycontin I had no desire to live. Why? to suffer everyday? To stay in bed everyday? crying? To be a burden for all who love me? Trying to hold back the tears when mom and dad come into the room to see how I'm doing! Some of you have no idea what we go through on a daily basis and to have the one thing that gives is hope taken away. Might as well put a bullet through our heads! I have no desire to live, not like this! So many were thankful I survived my accident. So many, but me. If I have to live life confined to a bed, what is life worth? I can't believe that Purdue could make such a big change not thinking about what true chronic pain patients would go through. How dare them take my life away! When I am gone, no one is to blame but them. I will not live my life dependent on so many to take care of me, when I was capable of taking care of myself. Sorry to all of you who are upset cause you lost someone to this drug. Who the f--k had them abusing what so many of us need. Nobody put a gun to their head and made them take it. They did it to their selves. (we all have choices to make) and now we are the ones to pay the price. I'm sorry for what they put you though, THEY PUT YOU THROUGH IT, NOT US! Every body knows Oxycontin is an addictive drug just like coke or heroin, yet they choose to try it.So why are we to suffer because of their choices? We know that once we start taking Oxycontin we may never get off of it. But we live with chronic pain every day, we know this is it for the rest of our lives. It is hard enough to have to accept and yet we have no choice! Please don't punish us because others choose to abuse.

Addictionisinsanity, I have a bone to pick with you, who are you to assume everyone here is a junkie, I go out looking for a forum to vent about this new medication and I get to read your generalized statement labeling us all as addicts. Oxycontin provided me quality of life I could have never had without it, I had 3 back surgeries starting in 2004, the last in 2009, I have degerative disk disease that started when I was 23, while taking Oxcontin OC I was able to work (up until my spine had to be fused). Now I cant walk any distance and I'm back to using a cane. All because a some addicts took pills not prescribed to them to get hight they knew what they were doing and it is their fault not mine not the other millions of pain sufferers and not Perdue's. The parents out there targeting Perdue are only trying to excuse their own failures.

okay I just spoke to purdue at the same # I have had not only GI trouble, but a strange way has come about me. My family and friends say I l;ook Off/ different. I do I looked at a pic of myself taken recently, I have also had tremors, shaking hands and uncontrollable involuntary crying as well. I have a whole slew of infirmities, but the mental breakdown cra started the same time as the new reformulated was introduced, I wake up out of dead sleep IF I SEEP sobbing for no reason, I expressed all of this to purdue's med dept and because I have all kinds of allergies to even dyes and fillers in vitamins etc I am considering switching to opana when I see my doc this month. I am scared it will not e as strong and hit the pain. Is there a comperable dosing between oxycntin- I take alot- and the opana? I dn't want to waste my time getting a prior auth with my medicare for the year and switch after 11 years on this oxycontin if it will not be as effective. Any one out there help. I am writhing in pain and shocked at the intense mental experience that just appeared around the same time I started taking the new formua. I know I am not imagining this. BTW I am a very tough cookie and can go through alot it is not my nature to be this way. I crty all the time shaking hands, upper Gi issues takes forever for the med to start working and it stops working 3-4 hours too soon, Help. Oxy vs Opana. Please answer. Bless us all. Ps mad respect to the former junkie who apologized- it's brave to do even on a computer screen in this climate here. Thanks for letting me share.please reply.

I have t agree with you there! I'm on Suboxone right now for painkillers and all of these people sound exactly like I did a couple of years ago! I still know people who chew the pills and SWEAR up and down that they don't and that's how the doctor prescribed it to them! I'm not gonna lie and say I've never done that, but you shouldn't lie about it either, people! Face it! The new Oxy's are a Godsend and you should be thankful that they did this for you! Painkiller addiction SUCKS BALLS and YOU ALL KNOW IT!!!! Purdue did the right thing by us. . . STOP CHEWING/CRUSHING YOUR MEDICATION!!!!

SoBoxRoCkS85 - Well La-DE-DA- for you with your Suboxone! If you had taken the time to read ALL the blogs that have been put on here, it would make you cry. I have cirrhosis of the liver so that narrows my box of what I can take. Here we have a place to let off some steam as to what Purdue has done to us that we are in pain 24/7. We have been going through hell, and who do you think you are? I am not a junkie, I don't chew, snort, shoot or anything else. Good for you that you're not in pain. But if you were here I would slap you in the face. How dare you? Forget about this web site and go skipping to your next agenda for your day. I hope you sleep well because the rest of us don't. I am so angry with you and the others that make our pain trivial. It's not!!!

Its obvious you don't suffer from chronic pain. Here is a very small example of what people with chronic pain go through. Most everyone has had a toothache, with a toothache the only thing you think about is getting the tooth fixed asap, well people with chronic pain never get that tooth fixed, we live with that pain 24/7. This pill does not work period. This oxy pill has only been around for 10-14 years, usually the FDA tests their meds for decades, there is no way possible they could have tested this new oxy in a fair amount of time, we are the test rats. There will always be pill junkies and drugs, the druggies will always find a way around any changes that are made in a pills. Its the corrupt medical doctors that hand out scripts for hundreds of oxy at a time, their deceptive practice are killing us, there are undercover videos of junkies waiting in line to visit the doc for meds, why can't the govt, state or federal bust them on the spot, why because the govt officials are also corrupt. The medical system needs to be updated and computerized, every state should abide by the same rules. Its real easy one computer system for the entire medical market but that's to simple, there's no money in being honest. Purdue lost 500 million dollars in a lawsuit so now they, Purdue has put a halo over their heads are are trying to make themselves look good in the goverments eyes.So again we suffer from pain all because of money and greed. The best we can do as patients is again hold on tight, its going to be a bumpy ride once again. Call Purdue and file a complaint, its easy to do, eventually Purdue will pull the pill off the market because they will lose to much money from cancellations of its product. Its ironic, when you call Purdue their toll free numbers ends with "666" go figure.

After countless hours of net-research, I can say, without question, this is the best post I've encountered.
"SWIM" deserves our praise for the guide excellent guide provided.

All information, with the exception of the final procedure (I can't confirm the final section regarding IV administration), is accurate* ,well written, and contrary to the remarks of many of "SWIMS" critics, well-intended.

"SWIM's" intentions are clear from his ("SWIM" identifies himself as a male) opening statement—he does not judge those who chose to use pharmaceutical medication—any medication—on one's own terms; referencing the fact that while, according to him, "we," that is, society overall, has tried "to stop druguse foover [sic] a century," ultimately people will do what they wish. Hence abuse is inevitable. But he doesn't end there—addressing the overall intentions of those participating in the thread, the advice given is meant to overcome a barrier imposed on ALL users, addict or not. In other words, if you want to experience the therapeutic effects of the original formulation, the guide he provides, when followed correctly, enables one to achieve precisely this goal: Instant release Oxycontin.

*"SWIM" was unable to confirm with certainty whether administration via insufflation was definitely possible—I'll just add that in fact, it is.
