Dr. Prescribing Many Anti Depressant/anxiety/panic/paranoia Medications At One Time

Updated

My brother is being prescribed many drugs from his psychiatrist, please tell me if these drugs are dangerous to take all together, or is this improper, irresponsible medication prescribing. His initial diagnosis was panic/anxiety disorder. Thank you ..this is the list: trazadone, ativan, paxil, flexeril, seriquel, vistaril, klonopin, tenormin, lamictal, oxycodone, and ibuprofen. he has an addiction to meth and goes to this doctor to get other drugs for his drug addiction. I just can't believe a doctor would or should prescribe all these drugs at one time. any help would be great.

Is that a lot of medications to be taking? Yes.

However, whether or not they are being prescribed improperly isn't something that I can say.

There are many instances where a combination of medications must be used to get someone's conditions under control, then as time goes on and things improve, medications can be dropped and/or new ones added as needed.

Only your brother and his doctors can really decide if they are all appropriate, or not.

The main question is, are they helping him, or not?

Verwon: seems whenever i post on medschat, or read a post on medschat, you are one of the posters or replying to a post. Is this your site? Or do you just have enough time on your hands to be able to be posting all day? If you read my post you would have seen that i stated that my brother is a drug addict and taking meth. He uses a dr. To get all these other meds just to feed his addiction. My question/concern was if it was ethical for a dr. To prescribe all these drugs to be taken at one time. Seems to me if i took all those drugs in one day i would be in a coma!
