Dose Dextroamp Amphet

------i took two doses of dextroamp-amphet ER 20 mg cap cause i forgot that i took one before it is that fatal?!?!?!?
i really need an an answer!---------and i do have ADHD

Please forgive my humor, but I hope I am making my point.

And as to this medication, yes, since it is a stimulant there can be problems with taking too much, because it elevates your heart rate and blood pressure, so if they go to high, that could put you in serious danger. Your cardiovascular system can only safely work at certain levels.

Have you called your doctor? Getting their advice would be the best thing to do.

And in the future, I'd advise using some type of reminder system that makes you acknowledge when you already took your medication, to avoid this happening again.

Hi Kelly,

The dosing instructions for this particular medication note the following with regards to missing a dose:

"If you miss a dose of dextroamphetamine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once."

By taking a double dose, you also increase your risk of experiencing certain side effects. So I do hope you're able to cope with the stronger effects of it well enough by now to know what your body can tolerate.

"In adults with ADHD who are either starting treatment for the first time or switching from another medication, the recommended dose is 20 mg/day. This applies to the Extended Release Capsules"

I'm not sure what the maximum dose is for extended release capsules or how your body might respond to 40mgs, so I can't determine whether or not your overdosing. However, in my opinion it would still be wise to contact your doctor sooner than later if you start to feel any undesirable side effects from the extra dose.
