Does Probation Typically Test For Ativan?

I just got a script for lorazepam and I want to take them. The prescription is not in my name. I have probation in 5 days and there is a good chance they will drug test me. Do they typically test for benzos? And and if can't do the Ativan until after probation, Ambien is alright isn't it? They don't test for Ambien do they?

Yes, they do typically test for Benzodiazepines, because they are habit forming and very commonly abused medications.

However, no Ambien, which contains the active ingredient Zolpidem and is used for the short-term treatment of insomnia is not a substance that is included in the typical urine screenings.

First off, I don't mean to judge you but it is very foolish to fill and take another person's prescription, especially a narcotic. I would like to ask why you are doing that anyway but I doubt you'd answer. Anyway, Ambien, which I take regularly and have off and on for a very long time, can be very dangerous when abused or used when it's not really necessary. If you're just wanting to get high on something you sure don't want it to be ambien. Besides, don't you think it's kind of stupid to be taking anything especially illegally when you're about to go for a urine test and you're already on probation (probably for drugs? am I right?) I am supposed to take three 1mg Ativan a day plus Klonipin for severe anxiety but it is prescribed to ME and I don't even take that many. I choose to only take them when needed. I suggest you take a long look into your future William. Is any of that stuff really worth the paranoia you go thru every time it's urine test time? Or the side effects and the possible (most likely) residual effects you'll suffer as time goes on? Or going to jail because someone told you they don't check for that but they did? You'll have your probation revoked and you'll go to jail. Period. I used to work for 6 different parole and probation officers at the Dallas County Probation Office. I know what I'm talking about. I saw it all the time. Wise up, grow up, whatever but don't take the chance.

What's wrong with all you people?!!! If you're worried about taking a urine test and failing... DON'T TAKE THE DRUGS! It's that simple. Or go to jail. If you don't care about going to jail enough to NOT take the drugs, then why should anyone else care? Sorry, but that's just the cold, hard fact. Wise up and grow up people. Jeez, unbelievable.

Okay, so you sound like a complete hypocrite. You are a former probation officer (or something of the sort), meaning you obviously hate life, and get pleasure out of ruining others lives. So it's okay for you to take an assortment of addictive medications, because you're old and can basically just ask for a perscription, but someone wants to take something to help them sleep, and you jump at the chance to tell them they're stupid? Get a real profession.

You obviously aren't very informed when it comes to addiction. That would be like telling someone not to eat crackers because it makes your mouth dry. The opiate receptors in your brain put drugs right up there with eating and sleeping tricking your brain into thinking it's necessary for survival. It also puts it before loved ones and hobbies and everything else in your life. That's why they call it a disease because it literally changes the chemical makeup of your brain.
