Oxycontin And Oxycodone Urine Drug Test (Page 8)

When taking a urine drug test, does oxycontin and oxycodone come up as the same drug? I took a 40mg oxycontin on a monday and was drug tested on thurs. I am tested once a month from my pain mangement dr. to make sure my oxycodone's are in my system. So will the 2 drugs show up as one or is there a differance in them with the drug test?

hi I'm in pain management since 2002 I went to the doctor for 15 years never had a soft spot for test ever then back to back I had a bad test did not know why I went to another doctor and ask him to help me find why he fired me so good luck because there is no doctors out there anymore it's all about committees and the DEA

What you are saying is false. It its a very expensive test to determine the exact level if meds in your body. Usually only used in the event of death and not even in the event of overdose. They just give you narcan. What they do test is the metabolites of the drug your taking. Oxycodone turns into oxymorphone in the liver. So that is what they actually are looking for. If your doctor or nurse are telling you this its to strike fear to prevent you from taking more. I am a PA.

I see a pain doctor and he gives me 40 mg oxycontin. I took a roxycodone about 3:00 AM and had a urine test done about 8:00 AM will they be able to tell i took a Roxycodone?

No! You have no worries its the same medication just one is slow release and the other is instant.

Ya'LL just live in your little bubble with your backyard medical degrees. If your urine, especially blood gets sent to lab, absolutely they can tell if it was oxycontin, oxycodone, percocet, xanax, ativan, klonopin, whatever. If you aren't following your p's and q's your gonna be without. Remember if you're around a dog you're gonna get fleas. Take your medication right. There are too many getting meds that don't F***** NEED IT AND PEOPLE THAT DO ARE CATCHING HELL FOR IT!!!!

As far as how long a medication stays in your system, it's not the same for everyone. It will be detected within 24-48 hours at the least, but it also depends on the persons metabolism. The faster your metabolism, the fewer days it lasts in your system. So, if you workout heavily or do a lot of cardio from the day you take it, it should speed up the rate that your body filters itself giving you a better chance of passing your UA with less days between when you take it and when you do your UA. The sure fire way to pass your UA, obviously, would be to not take it within 5 days of your UA, if you can control yourself. But i know pain is a fickle b****, and so are the wds, but it's not worth losing your scripts over especially if you truly need them.

It is the same drug, one is simply controlled release.

Your wrong oxycotin and oxycodone are identical drugs and when they send the urine off they don't really look for oxycodone or oxycotin they look for the metabolites in lay terms what drug it turns into in the system. In this case it happens to be oxymorphone. They do not test via blood either, they use urine. The lab would take months in some cases to come back to find exact amounts and that test is very expensive and only done mainly in the event of death. Sometimes if they are already drawing blood they will check it for the med your taking but not for the amount. Oxycodone is Oxycotin just one is relased slowly over time and the other works for 3 to 6 hours and all the medication is put in the blood stream at once instead of with cotin it is slowly a mg or 2 a hour let out. I'm prescribed morphine sulphate 30mg ER and oxycodone/apap 10/325. If i take an oxycontin 20 mg 5 days before I see my doctor will the oxycontin show in a urine test?

Yes but it won't show any different from the 10/325 you are already on. Your 10/325 us the same medicine in oxycotin

Your fine they show the same however it could be out of your system by then so make sure you always save some so you don't fail due to nothing in your system.

Yes it does show up the same even on the most detailed of test well because it is the same. OxyContin is an ER version of oxycodone.

I was recently changed from a max dosing of oxycontin (after a prolonged time of taking it) to "xtampza er." I got notice from a Dr's office there was a problem with my urine test. My question is would, or could I test positive for more then one prescription med?

First of all it was not the drug companies that first came up with the idea to change OCs to OPs, it was the government to get a control on the ppl using it recreationally. So to answer ur question OC is the same as OP, they just made it ALMOST impossible to abuse it in any way other than how it's being prescribed for long term pain; hence the time release. OCs were prescribed for long term pain but ppl whom abused them ruined it for ppl that took them as prescribed. So before u start blaming pain management docs that really try to help ppl with real pain problems, know all the info first before pointing ur finger at the wrong ppl.

Regarding the BEING DRUGGED CONSPIRACY, IT'S LUDICROUS to believe anyone would waste THEIR coke on your husband! The cold reality is your husband is not being honest with YOU or HIMSELF! I have been on pain management meds for 11 years now and there is no drug other than cocaine in its original form or otherwise that will come up in a drug test as cocaine! Your husband is in serious denial or a flat out liar! No way to put it nicely.
