Doctors In Michigan That Prescribe Methadone (Page 34)

I'm interested in finding a private doctor's office (not a clinic) that will prescribe methadone. I can't afford these clinics! Does anyone know of a doctor???

What that doctor did is very unethical and bad practice. But, I think docs reserve the right to stop treatment at any time but I might wrong. That is horrible IMO. Cruel even... sry

Denise- I understand what you mean! If your question about start up costs was about the clinic in Flint I mentioned, and I thought it was, I do not know. I was a transfer and they waived that fee for me. You should call them. It's a really nice clinic. I've never waited in line in the 2 years I've been there. They are the only methadone clinic in SE Michigan that honors MMMP cards, as it's a private clinic. I must have called over 150 drs. addiction specialists/psychiatrists when I found out my old clinic was being shut down by DEA. And as I found out, they will not write a RX for methadone maintenance. They want nothing to do with it! Dr who owned clinic DEA closed Is in jail for 17 yrs. After closing we all found out he'd been stepping on our meds. First time I took my true mg. dose, I had to pull over- I was wasted!). But I digress. I go once a month. Fees are competitive. I could go to a clinic much closer to me, but they cost too much. I drive 130 miles round trip. It's worth it to me. Dosing hours are very limited. But again, worth it. The Dr. is very nice. I've always been treated well by everyone there. Lou- I do not know who "Doctor P" is, but I am in the Royal Oak area as well and desperately looking for a doctor that will help me with legitimate, chronic pain. I have seen my doctor for 9 years and he FINALLY got me on a regimen that helps me to be able to work and function somewhat normally, and then he was stopped by the DEA and he is now going through the process with them and being evaluated-and I found this out when I called to get my refill for meds. I am days away from running out and I have been to three new doctors-with MRIs, surgery records from my accident, X-rays, and 9 years of monthly records..and raised blood pressure from PAIN..but NOBODY WILL HELP ME! I am really just trying to find a decent, compassionate doctor to treat me the reasonable way that I have been treated for the past 9 years-who knew it would be so difficult. Can you (or anyone else) please help me find a decent, compassionate doctor who is not afraid to treat a legitimate pain patient with documentation? I am a professional and I have insurance-but I am being treated like a jerk and refused service. Can you please help me? Thank you in advance for your time and consideration-and good luck.

I have a friend that's been on methadone almost 40 years. He would like to leave the program he is on because he's here in the UP. He is looking for a doctor that would replace the program he is on

My husband's Dr. In Muskegon Mi just dropped him and he's on methadone. He needs to find a new Dr. That will prescribe it to him for chronic pain. Please let me know if u know of any that r taking new patients. Thank u.

Have him shop his records around, it shouldn't be too difficult if he's already been prescribed it

I am kind of in the same boat. My Dr has had me on pain meds that work quite well (tho not perfectly) for my chronic pain. She recently left the practice there and the new Dr I've been a signed even admitted she never read through my chart because it would take too long, but she saw my list of meds and right away said "we've got to get you off these meds " my last visit she informed me she will no longer write my scripts for my pain meds. One of my meds is 100mcg/hr fentanyl patches. I have 3 patches left and am looking for the horrible withdrawal symptoms to start as soon as the last one comes off. My previous Dr was going to send me to a methadone PAIN center. This new Dr says they don't give methadone for pain, they just give it to you to get you off other pain meds. I know when I finally finish the withdrawal symptoms if I even get finished first, I'm going to end up back in my wheelchair permanently. I have two small children 3 and 5 and have no idea how I'm going to be able to take care of them during and after this is all said and done,

RE: Nana I had pretty much the same outcome, and the new Dr. was actually just a PA, but also said my file would take to much time, and that he was gonna get me off the meds i had been on for years that had allowed me to live with some quality to my life.I was on methadone, and am petrified of the hoooor stories of the withdrawel from it. I am still taking it and it showed in my blood test. My dr. ask me where i was getting it, and i had already ask for his help if he would not continue it, that he help me wean off it. I told him i would not tell him where i was getting it, but that i now at 60 yrs old have been made to feel like a street addict when im trying to find it.Its not right to just stop meds, and its really not right to not supply u with help to at least avoid withdrawels.What ever happened to Dr.s oath to put the health and best interest of the patient 1st???

Do the doctors at Recovery Unlimited dispense methadone tablets for new patients or must a new patient go to the clinic everyday?

Hey i am from mississippi and hear i know of no doctor that will write methadone. Now pain management clinics will write that but here they cost anywhere from 200 to 400 dollars a month plus med cost. We have methadone clinics and that would probably be your best bet

Denise, well I have started cutting my patches in half. The next time I change it is will be cutting it in fourths. Already the pain is really bad. I'm trying to only do mild withdrawal. I have called around for another Dr but am having trouble finding one.
My pain meds have given me a life and have allowed me to do things and play with my very young adopted daughters (3 & 5) Right now, my husband is the one who bathes them and takes them out to play. I can barely drive and even riding in the passenger seat is tortuous.
An I know this is all just going to get worse. I am back to using my cane and often my walker, I'm almost certain that it won't be long and I will be trapped in my wheelchair chair again.

Need to find a methadone Dr as close to Port Huron or St Clair county as possible (but willing to do some traveling) for my pain management it's next to impossible please any help would be very appreciate

Nana , I understand your pain. I live in a northern state that Doctors were hell bent on treating me with Methadone for pain. 12 years later, my pain is still there but I can move and Doctors are getting ALL patients off of methadone, claiming we only build up tolerances for chronic pain. I admit I am addicted but have never abused the medicine in the 12 years they have prescribed it for me. My mother also had severe pain from arthritis and she ended up hanging herself successfully years ago. I fear my pain will never be relieved and that I am bound to be in agony the rest of my life. Last time they weaned me of 1 pill which is 10mg I developed extremely high blood pressure and a flo vent heart murmur. I am smart enough to realize that this happened because of the pain level I was in and now they are starting it again today! I truly fear they are going to kill me or totally cripple me!!! How can we stop these Evil doctors from doing harm?

Could you please let me know about the Dr in flint, I've been on pain meds and I was on morphine for my pain now even that doesn't help I've tried my pain Dr and he's of no help I'm in a desperate situation and I'm constantly in severe pain.please help me find a Dr. If you could get me his name id be so appreciative I haven't had a moment without severe pain sense I came to after my double neck fusion.
