Doctors In Louisiana That Prescribe Methadone For Chronic Pain (Page 8)

I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!

There is no way of knowing what a dr will prescribe you until you see them. It may take several visits before they are even willing to discuss Methadone, if then. It might help if you have your medical records from your previous dr.

Beginning August 1, 2014, if you have a rx from a dr who is not licensed to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana and the rx is for a pain med that is a Schedule II or Schedule III you will not be able to get more than a 10 day supply as the FDA Recommended Dosage. You also will not be able to get another rx filled within 60 days from another dr who is not licensed to practice medicine in the state of louisiana. The pharmacist will call the dr that wrote the rx and tell that why you can't get the entire rx filled,

I live in Metairie and I am Really Needing to find a doctor that can write my Methadone script once a month!! I'll travel anywhere in Louisiana or even another state thats close!! Can anyone Pls help??

SlickyNicky, just remember if you see a dr in another state that isn't Licensed to Practice Medicine in Louisiana that after August 1, 2014, if you want to get the entire rx filled, you will have to get it filled in another state besides Louisiana.

in your back yard Dr Troy Beaucordray 504-885-3737 he writes takes all insurance cash state or private, does not test for cannabis. pretty too ladies, you will get something first visit. he gives you 3 month hard copies. he works east jeff for hospital calls! Great bedside manner he cares and writes blessings

You now have to go to pain management I Louisiana I lived thier .there is alot of dc that will help you just has to be pain management.

I live in pennsylvania. I found a doctor who put me on methadone in lancaster. I moved 1 &1/2miles away and still made the trip every month.He recently had to retire due to Parkinsons. now im in Levittown and I cant find a doctor willing to write me methadone. There is a war goin on in this state for years.The pa government is trying it's best to make prescriptions illegal. They want people who have serious chronic pain to stand in line like a junkie and get dosed every day. I have advanced neuropathy and ostio arthritus as well as progressive nerve damage from three failed back operations.

Methadone is the only thing that works for me.I went the oxycontin way and got addicted in less then a year/I dont get any high from methadone. It just handles my pain.I feel that we who are on methadone for pain should stop sitting by and letting government take our rights away.We need to start standing up with partitions and telling them what makes it so effective.

I just moved from FL to New Orleans, LA & am needing to find a pain mgmt doctor in this area who will continue my current meds, MRTHADONE, ZANAFLEX, LYRICA, & FIORICET. I have made dozens of phone calls & inquiries. I have major back problems, cervical radicalopathy, headaches, nerve damage. I just read your post Are you from my area, Can you help?

Hey I'm on the DRD clinic in New Orleans and on 100mgs/day. Ibroke my spine 2 years ago and the surgeons botched my spinal surgery and I'm in miserable pain. My doctor was giving me 3 7.5 percs a/day and the clinic threatened to kick me off the clinic. So now I really need a doc that will rx my methadone and breakthrough pain meds. If you know a doctor that is compassionate could you please send me their info? . Man, please help?

No not at all!!! I'm just going by what I've been told by others. Nothing against any of them.
I'm an addict in recovery and they won't really see anyone who has had any sort of trouble with pain meds. I'm looking for a methadone dr bc that's the only meds I feel safe taking.
