I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!

It may be because those asking want drs to prescribe certain meds. And it isn't that way any longer. If anyone can find a dr that will prescribe the meds asked about here on the first visit, that dr won't be around much longer. Usually drs start patients off on milder meds than those mentioned here. There is no way of knowing what meds they will prescribe if a patient continues to see them and follow prescribed treatments. But there also is no guarantee that the dr will prescribe what the patient has taken before and/or at the same dosage. There are Pain Management Drs all over Louisiana, but they prescribe the meds that are comfortable with based on the patients diagnoises and medical history. Medical records from a patients previous dr are also very important.

Has used pain management dr. for 3 years received another pain prescription from ER dr & orthopedic surgeon. Pain management Dr want give me any meds neither will surgeon.Scheduled for back surgery in 6wks in terrible pain.Surgeon told me to find another pain management MD but will any even except me after this awful mistake i made.

I live in New Iberia and my doctor is starting a medvip program. Basically, if you pay 1650 a year, you get primary medical care. Those who don't pay the 1650 a year will be put on a waiting list for visits. I have been on methadone since 2005. He is starting this program in August. Needless to say, I am vexed bc many doctors act like methadone is crack. I have been in chronic pain since I was 19 years old from an auto accident. After trying many rx pain meds, methadone is the only one I get relief with. I was hoping you could give me the name of your doctor in breaux bridge. Thx. Hi I'm in Louisiana in the Baton Rouge area, my doctor recently stop practicing and gave me 30 days worth of methadone and told us we had to find a new doctor well it's harder than it sounds!!!! I was wondering if anybody knows of a doctor that's in are around the area that will take new patience??? I was hurt at Dow Chemical and lost my left leg, hip bone, and pelvic bone!!!! I'm out and need a doctor fast!!!

It's very frustrating how drug abusers have given these pain medications a bad name. These medications were intended for people with chronic illnesses, who are under a doctor's care and have legitimate prescriptions for them. They are also very effective, safe pain relievers when taken the way they were intended to be taken! It's a real shame what the FDA is doing to those of us who suffer every day and can no longer get the proper medication to help us!

I m looking fora doctor that will keep me on my Methadone and Roxicodone but especially Methadone. I am a contract paralegal and travel a lot and am a single mother. My doc in Baton Rouge closed his practice this past month. Does anyone know of a doctor that will take cash payment as I do not have insurance. I do not know what I am going to do I am going to loose my job there is no way I can sit for long periods of time without my meds. My job requires me to sit for hours in depositions and court proceedings for long periods of time. Any info would greatly be appreciated. I am willing to travel anywhere in Louisiana.

Sidney crackhower in lafayette he only takes special patients and ones who are honest and won't waste his time ! He's very strict and you have to see a counselor with his office once a year . He only accepts maybe 1 in 10-15 people to his practice and he doesn't mess around .

I had been in M for nearly 7 years when suddenly much drama happened at where I go & long story but few patients that stayed were mostly locals who didn't find doctor in time to change to SooOooo we had to wein off methadone & start MS contin + didn't help much so he tried Opana & now I'm still on that w/ Dilaudid. It is just not enough relief, my daily functionibg has drastically declined in all I do-I'm miserable & it sucks.
