Doctors In Louisiana That Prescribe Methadone For Chronic Pain (Page 11)

I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!

con71446, there are no changes in federal, state or medicaid laws that say a regular dr can't prescribe pain meds. Medicaid providers choose not to because of the hassel they can get from Medicaid if the are high prescribers. But, that has to do with the politicians in Washington and not any changes in laws. The cost of seeing a pain managment dr is very expensive when you have to pay it out of pocket.

if you need to you might find a methdone clince because the laws have change this year in louisiana pain mang doc r the only ones in louisiana that can write methdone, what part of louisian r you in , i know several, in shreveport,louisiana, dr tonga, in shreveport, doc mary wilson, shreveport, and pain mangent, in monre ,please lets us know were you r this is a good site no a drug seeking site there are people here that will help u , i pray for you because i been cut off many time, in louisiana , because they had 40 mgs methdone, and zanza with them killing people, i been there , yes i understand what a qualitly of life really sucks when you find med that work, then you out and going to with draws, i understan, wishing u the best , someone help these people

There are no new laws in Louisiana that say only Pain Managment Drs can prescribe Methadone. It may be very difficult finding one who isn't pain managment to prescribe it. But that is not the same as a law changing. The person that told you this lied to you.

I seen ur reply. I use to go to Texas for my roxys. The ride and time is unable. I've tried some dr here in Louisiana but with the DEA on all the dr ass they not wanting to prescribe the medicine I need. Will u please me to a dr that will treat my pain. I'm willing to travel within Louisiana

Monique, if you're really in that much pain which I don't doubt, and you have a history of pain management, go to the place that I've posted on this site. It's the Anodyne clinic on Sierra Ct. in Metairie, La. They are very good but very strict. You have to be at least 30 years old and have proper documentation. Phone number is (504) 834-1311. Monroe, La Center for Behavioral Health, 318-340-9596, it is 95.00 a week but the glitch is it is a daily dose at the clinic and a take out early Friday for the weekend. You have to see their Dr first by appointment. They are only open 6 am until 12:30
