Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 88)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

SCREW ANYONE AND EVERYONE TRYING TO MAKE THINGS BAD FOR THOSE OF US WHO SEE THE SMITHS AND THE SMITHS THEMSELVES!!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!? Are you just THAT pissed that you're a junkie and now you can't find doctors to make you feel high so now you're going to sling a bunch of mud around to dirty up GOOD PEOPLES' NAMES!?!?!?!? I just went in yesterday. He is definitely much more strict than last month, but he didn't lower my meds. In fact because I'm having trouble sleeping all night because of pain, and when you don't get 6 to 8 hours of sleep my pain meds won't work like they should, so he gave me ambien and a compound pain topical cream. They only want to help, SO WHOEVER IS TALKING DOWN ON THEM AND TRYING TO PUT THEM IN THE SPOTLIGHT IN A BAD WAY, STOP!!!!!!!! Go get off the pills and get a life as opposed to being a pissed off junkie that wants to screw over legitimate intractable pain patients because they actually get pain meds BECAUSE THEY NEED THEM and you don't!!!! I am about ready to let him know that newcomers need to be watched VERY carefully, or not even seen, because they will mess things up for everyone else. WHOEVER IS DOING THIS, KNOCK IT OFF AND GET A LIFE!!!

Tired of everyone knowing me on here. Wendy what do you mean to have them "check" as a pain clinic? I know multiple family practitioners and internists that write pain meds. Anyone with a DEA number can write them. Why do you say start looking for another place soon? I was in there yesterday and they didn't lower mine, in fact I got a compound topical pain cream that seems to help..... I think it would be wise to let them know that whoever is spreading all this crap is a patient that shouldn't be seen. If they're so worried about everyone else, then they can leave the practice instead of whining about everyone else to the doctor. And I'm sure a lot of the people who are going in are BEGGING to get huge amounts and won't work with the doctor at all. I was told "it's a team effort. We WILL get you down to a pain level of 2. But I have to do my part by trying his suggestions and seeing if they help. I was also told that if your PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR says he can't write your pain meds, he's lying and just won't. They said a PCP that doesn't help you with pain is not doing their job. So hopefully after a couple more months they will have booted the seekers and things will calm down.

Yep... I had an errand in Denver Saturday and Mr. S was kind enough to fit me in because I drive from another city. I was told the same thing: they are happy to prescribe as part of a whole plan. He told me that a few people have been in who want no part of a "plan"... Just meds... And he won't prescribe to them. I will be following his "orders", but I got the sense that you can't pay him lip service... He's no dummy. Love him!

That's exactly what I said. I asked to back to what I was on a couple years ago and he said I need to have 6 to 8 hours of sleep so he asked if I am willing to try a topical cream and Ambien to help me get the sleep I need for my body to get the full analgesic effect from the meds. Then I was told that if we're ever going to move up and get my pain level to a 2, which he was ADAMANT about, but he said it's a team effort. I have to work with him for him to work with me and I said absolutely I would LOVE to try something else that will help me not wake up after a few hours of sleep. So I call in two weeks and we go from there. I'm glad he is picking out the junkies that won't even TRY a professionals idea. That's an abuser NO DOUBT. I'm glad those fools can't get meds because if they're not willing to try anything at all besides just narcotics, that's a red flag of an abuser. SO SORRY. Not really. Any real chronic or intractable pain patient is going to be willing to try new things. It's not like they say you have to try ONLY the new medication and nothing else. Thank the Lord that they're so wise and pick out those people that f*** it up for the rest of us.

It's so sad that so many people have debilitating health problems, illnesses, pain... people that don't even know anymore what it feels like to wake up and not feel sick, or in pain. The pain and sickness becomes the norm. Some days I feel like I just can't do it anymore. I just can't front a smile and pretend anymore. I try to imagine what it would be like to feel "normal." And it's been so long, I can't even remember what that feels like. Every day life is already a struggle, it's horrible when you can't find a Doctor that listens to you with compassion and doesn't just look at you like you're just another number, patient 14. Then you finally find someone that listens, shows compassion, legitimately wants to work with you and help you... then these doctors get labeled because they prescribe pain medicine. It doesn't matter how many other things they are treating and how well they do, or how many different diagnostics and treatment plans they go over because people just see that they prescribe pain meds. Then people wonder why so many people turn to drugs and alcohol, depression... they are practically forced into it. The dea wants to control every single medication so much so that its ridiculous. They just made tramadol a class IV drug... seriously? Well, I guess that medication works for a lot of people, it never did for me. It made my entire body shake. I could go on and on with stories about my experiences in hospitals and with doctors but I'd be writing a book. I was in the er once for a gallbladder attack... the doctor refused to give me promethasize because he said there's a lot of people that use it to feel high. I was laying there like "are you for real right now? " I was sweating because I was in so much pain, throwing up, dehydrated, blood pressure through the roof, heart pounding, couldn't breathe... and he was gonna start lecturing me about a nausea med that I take regularly that I might be asking for just to feel high. I'm gonna cut this message off now, I entirely forgot where I was going with all of this. I put in a request for private communication with all of you but haven't heard anything back yet. I hope you're all doing well, or better these days.

rainbowflowers, don't know if he's a real doctor or not, but "the group" seems to be preoccupied with the clinic and pain medication. Never see any posts about alternative attempts at pain control.

Well, let's see: I have a tens unit... I've been through physical therapy twice, I've had 8 injections, a facet rhizotomy, and I'm about to have a si joint ablation... And if that doesn't work, a fusion. I've tried various stretching exercises, heat, cold, lying on a football to compress a specific trigger point, and dry needling. I've taken various "other" meds and tried all sorts of natural teas and tinctures.... But yeh, I'm just "focused" on pain meds.... Thanks for your input... Move along.

MtnGrl, I'll move along when I'm ready. At least one of you had the manners to respond this time. Previously when "the group" was asked for advice, no one even bothered to reply with a "sorry" can't help you.
It's great that you are trying other methods, not just medication. Truly sorry that those methods haven't helped you. But I didn't say none of you hadn't tried anything else, I said no one posts about it. The posts are almost always about the clinic, the medication, and concerns about someone trying to abuse the clinic.

Hey guys n gals!

So I'm a self admitted slow poster to this site, I'm not on a pc or my phone all day everyday like most people. ...i work with kids and up the canyon where I don't have service...so I apologize. I'm always checking in and reading all your posts and have helped one or two of you a few months ago find where dr "Ryan" (pre - theresa days) after he left...so I'm legit...i promise. Also my whole long story is posted here months ago.

Anyhoo, I was wondering if y 'all knew if anything happened to SAS? I'm worried more that they might have a personal emergency god forbid!!! I had an appointment scheduled for this a.m. and they're not here. Plus the PT place above them who I am starting to see after 4 appt ' s w/ the smith's said it's odd they haven't seen them all morning. Called a few times, PT place called them, they have a "closed" " be back @ 9:00 (which it is now well passed) sign up. Does anyone know anything? I travel an hour to see these super amazing caring docs and today was a really important appt for not just my pain mgnt but overall health care. I'm actually really concerned. ...and confused. I'm not leaving, I'm waiting here...hopefully they're totally fine and will be here soon. I will update y 'all if there's something to update. I really hope and pray everything's ok and I don't have to once again try to find a new doc. I love them! I especially love how through he is! Ok, I'm ramblin' ...and guys, I'll try to be better about posting more! ... cause I'm always on this thread and seems cause I'm bad about posting all the time people forget me :( ... But I really can't blame y'all ;) TBC... Muchlove & well wishes to you all! ~K

Mnt Girl, I'm so sorry no one was responsive to u! This truly is a great group but like myself have been dealing with pain issues for years! I myself have had 20 years of some type of pain management! What type of issues r u having? There are many different modalities for all types of pain issues! I would b more than happy to provide u info on ideas other than medicines that may help! Not as an excuse but with changes in medication prescribing, all of us have been very affected by, we have been focusing on that! I apologize and will watch the posts to c how we can help!

I saw the Smiths yesterday. They are prob. running behind. Mrs. Dr. S. goes out in the field to private homes, nursing homes, etc..Mr. Dr. S. though, usually holds down the fort. Lemme know what happens.

So kay 33 did you see the smiths this am and how did it go??

So I waited 2 hours past my appt time and no smiths and no return calls from them to me or the PT people upstairs. ...and the PT people said that's really odd cause if the smiths leave the office they always tell them (pt peps) before they go. I was supposed to get blood work and a very important exam and because of these plans I haven't eaten or drank anything since 8 last night. What else is odd is that there weren't any other patients waiting or showing up, for what I could see, for appts. Besides this being a really important appt, I do need my meds. I'm out now. There is no # to call in case of emergency, no way to reach them after hours, have them paged etc. (Guess cause they were a semi small practice n didn't need it) But now I don't know what to do. I wonder if he wrote my appt down wrong, I doubt it as i confirmed it like 3x before i left my last appt...stinks they don't have reminder calls or emails cause I really love those just to be sure. But i checked my appt card and my phone calendar and they both said today and same time this a.m. I don't know what to do or what happened. I really hope they're ok. Today's obviously gonna suck n be crazy hard and painful being due for and now out of my meds.
Again, most importantly, I hope n pray they're ok. Seems like when they left last, yesterday evening I assume, they flipped the sign to "closed" & "be back @ 9" on the clock sign. I would think they would be checking their messages/voicemails right??? I really wonder what's going on.
I would have stayed longer but I live an hour away and work an hour & 1/2 plus away. This day was planned around this appt...gotta hope work will understand I will need another day for the docs...but work really doesn't care that I need to go to the docs...they hate how much I have to go already (between smiths n specialists n PT). FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE!!!
If y'all have any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks everybody and hope you're enjoying this beautiful day!
*and see guys, I'm getting better at replying faster already ; ) *
Muchlove,
K
