Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 6)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

They have no problem with THC being in your system. I know this for a fact. But I see Katy every time and have a very good relationship with her. I really hope that they will continue to write what I normally get. I can't take percocet..... That doesn't make sense. They will prescribe me fentayl and oxymorphone and hydromorphone but not oxycodone? I find that hard to believe. But I'm going to be PISSED if that's the case. If you abuse/take too many of ANY of these meds!!!!!!... Seriously. I thought I had finally found my good doctor. I pray this isn't true. But I will be calling tomorrow and going in on the 22nd so I will keep everyone informed.

Tammy do you know or know someone who did actually get reimbursed by their insurance? Or was it difficult, seems like a nightmare, well I'm assuming having to constantly call your insurance send over this fax that email this. IJS I'm curious, CPR happens to be within 5-10 miles from where I'm currently being treated. I am getting chiropractic care ,decompression and facet injections and have been very flexible finding a comfortable dose for me right now.

Thanks Mac, I really doubt you 're going to have any problems. Just reading through your posts you 've been with this PM . I would be concerned if I was a new or newer patient. From the info. I gathered, CPR seems to be a case by case situation. I'm sure that yes if a patient did die, o.d.. the DEA IS most likely breathing down CPR S neck. Which is one good thing about u/a s PM S gotta cover their ass. This sounds to be a by the book PM....Just my opinion

I agree. I have just NEVER had ANY problems with them. Never anything missing in my UAs, or anything that wasn't supposed to be there. I am VERY close to Katy the PA, and I'm pretty close to Dr. May and I'm very close to the co-owner that brings you back. Like I said I'm calling tomorrow but if that's the case I'm not ruining my liver with tylenol. So I will have my PCP help me for a couple months while I find a new pain clinic. I do everything I can, acupuncture, massages, chiropractic, inversion/decompression therapy, I'm on a whole supplement plan. I do literally everything I can short of surgery, I am on the honors society for my college, I have gotten straight As for 3 semesters sraight. I will take my business elsewhere if they punish me because someone else did something. I think they need to be careful for sure, but saying we won't prescribe Oxy AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT but will prescribe drugs that are just as dangerous they're just not hot on the street is ludicrous. They will prescribe me fentanyl, methadone, oxymorphone, hydromorphone, pretty much everything else. They better continue my normal treatment. I'll feel betrayed.

that's what we thought too,and no I've never taken too many pills. I've had three back surgery's and am fully disabled, due to a car accident in 2008. They gave me the patches and switched my oxy to percs...like I said good luck

Wow, to my surprise, I hope this is not the case, What a bunch of anxiety, I apologize for you all. I just thought of something, I remember asking as well as telling my PM oxycodone works for me. But he won't just won't give me Percocet, well basically oxycodone with/without Tylenol. He's not budged, but he pit me on MSCONTIN and Norco for breakthrough pain. BEFORE this I was rx d 4 10/325 for breakthrough then this is odd but oxycodone 10/325 3_4 a day. I came from FL. I was on Oxy ir 30 4 Times a day. So when I got to CO the PM I found would not write the oxy in any form without Tylenol, and she was tapering the perc 10. I was very relieved to have even got those scripts here in CO. So anyhow I'm on MSCONTIN and it helps me a lot , I do think I went through acute with drawl from Oct, but in conclusion, my PM who s office is very close to CPR, he won't give me oxy anything, I'm thankful to get something besides tramadol. MY shrink sorry to offend any1 but he is my psychologist he told me my pain is so closely related to my pain it's significant.... Just relax and don't get stressed out guys! Mac you have back up if you need from your primary, so just don't fret !! Hope you get an answer tomorrow, if you find you need to find another Pm...and best of Wishes to all of you!!!

So I just called and apparently since most of their patients are on ONLY oxy for their "long acting" they are putting people on name brand OxyContin (which I can't get because I only have generic insurance) and then a short acting or other long acting ones. She just said the DEA isn't letting them right ir OC anymore. I think it's bulls*** to be honest. F*** THE DEA BEING IN OUR HEALTHCARE!!!! I can't stand the useless ass government.

They say they are only doing it in ER forms because most people get it as their long acting..... So idk..... I guess I'll find out when I go in. But they're putting me on SOMETHING instant release, whether morphine, oxymorphone, or hydromorphone. I'm not being punished because the DEA feels the need to be involved in healthcare. I say get rid of all major government establishments. All they do is mess things up. They throw out umbrella policies that cover millions over the actions of a couple.

I feel bad for dr. May and kati, that is what messes up care and treatment for others. So they are still writing for oxy ir?

Not as far as I could tell. Which doesn't make sense at all. Idk I guess when I go in on the 22nd I'll be able to talk to Dr. May and see what the F*** is going on!!! Anyone on here who likes big government, this is what you get. The government interfering with PRIVATE affairs. Healthcare is private, they have ZERO business being involved. It's not about personal responsibility and accountability anymore, NOOOOO, it's about someone F**** up and you make an umbrella policy for everyone!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

That's not good I bet a lot of their patients are going to leave then they will probably have to close down. Bad decision on dr. May but hopefully it changes, maybe its just temporary.

Maybe, but I think it's the DEA and not Dr. May. He's always been very understanding. But the DEA threatens to shut down offices and relieve MDs of their licenses if they don't comply. F*** that !!!!! Trying to take my firearms, my medications, WHAT THE HELL IS NEXT?!?!?!?

All true, so hopefully he still writes for my oxy ir knowing I can't have Tylenol because he is the most understanding doctor I ever had. He shouldn't have anything to worry about with the dea he does everything by the book and 1 patient dying shouldn't do anything to him unless he over prescibed something, which I doubt with dr. May.

MAC I concurr, and this is how it is this government was founded by thieves and ran by crooks.!!!! Born and raised in Mt, my uncle is a marksmen? Forgive me if I the jargon, oh ok he s a sharpshooter, my whole family own and definitely believe in the right to bear arms!!!! I wish the best for all of you in this SITUATION, this too shall pass, unfair as it seems, I would be getting a plan A B and C for your right to be treated for pain. It's a struggle everyday WITH THE MEDS!!! I know and then shot . Like this hurts the ppl who are already fricken hurt, then ppl wonder why ppl lose their mind!!

That's what I'm saying!!!! And saying Oh well prescribe oxy+tylenol to destroy your liver but we won't do just the oxy??? And he gives UAs, I don't get it....... I'm F****** PISSED!!!! I HATE SEARCHING FOR A NEW GOOD DOCTOR!!!!! Everybody look around and share the info plz.

What makes no sense is oxy and Percocet is the same except the highest mg with Percocet is 10mg and has Tylenol. ..so makes no sense when its the same drug anyways. I am on a low dose oxy ir anyways its only 5mg so maybe he will still write for me I will let u all know.
