Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 241)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

F 100 I completely agree. Taking pain medications for chronic and intractable pain AUTOMATICALLY ensues with physical dependence. It's just the nature of the best. But it doesn't mean someone is addicted mentally and they abuse their medications. Anyone who has to take pain medications on a regular basis is going to have physical dependency. But it doesn't mean they're addicted and abuse. I agree with you and that's why I can't stand addicts because thru ruin it for all the legitimate pain patients. And no I didn't Rainbow I just haven't gotten around to it. The start of this semester has been crazy!!!

People need to stop using the word addiction and start using the word dependence. There is a differance between them. This seems to be a problem for us that are in pain all the time. Just like the term cronic pain and intractable pain seems some Dr.s view this in differant ways. You know not all the pain Dr.s don't really know that much about pain and the treatment for it. They see the money to be made and jump on the wagon to get thier share of the money to be made from us pain patients. Sad but true. Also not all dr.s got straight A's in school so it's hard to know what grades they got and how they did in scool? I have found a good one that does care and wants to do all he can to help me control my pain. God bless Dr. Adam Hy

I would think MRIs and XRAYs would be visible enough but I guess not. The DEA is so far up every doctor's rear end that when they spit it comes out the doctor's mouth but it is still not excuse to put those in LEGITIMATE pain in a terrible position. We aren't doing anything wrong, we just want to live a semi-normal life.... Hopefully things will change after not too much longer. I pray to God that they do. f100, do you know doctors outside of CPR?

Hi Mac You have some very good points about all of this. I knew a guy that went to a doctor with some one elses x-rays of a shoulder and the dr. never checked his shouler or any thing to check if he really was in need of pain meds. Never the less this guy walked out with a prescription of pain meds just to make himself feel high. This is why we that need pain meds are having such a hard time getting them even with all the proof we should need to get the help us. I've been lucky that a few Dr.s have said I was a legitiment pain patient and do need meds to help live as comfortable as possible. Also just because we may not look like we are in pain and do fuction well only because of the meds , they think we should be screaming bloody murder to get this across to them that we are in pain and need help to control it. This all is sure a sore spot to me. They just don't get it not all pain is visable. Keep the faith and good luck to all in pain God bless you all.

i completely agree. Many of those doctors are just as bad in the whole problem. It is their responsibility to not do harm. But sometimes people are great at lying about their pain and a doctor can feel as though he's doing harm by putting the patient through "pain" that they complain about when there really isn't pain.

Imagine how it is for me at 23!!! It sucks. Something needs to change and all these addicts ruining it need to get a life and stop blowing it for all of us who really need medication to live.

I know exactly how u feel, being so young, becuz i was 38 and i was given hard time about my age/ ssdi, and you're right, its too ridiculous, becuz what does age have to do with disability?- just becuz i wasn't born like this, ignorance wreaks with doctors ,but especially the government! Hate to hear that you're so young, really do! I hope you get all the help you need !

I meant over the past 10 years, not 19 years. Anyway, I'm tired of these people, and supposedly healthcare people who are supposed to care, and just take our money, which i think we should be reimbursed for taking up our time!

Janet and maC...I know EXACTLY what you're going thru, besides yhe frustration of being labeled as a drug addict, because that's how these doctors treat us!I took 2weeks just to do this job interview. I am really going to be dying working, but if i want to keep my car, i will hav to work! I have no alternatives, alot of men i meet want me to take care if them,so that kind of help is not there for me.It's affecting my schooling, and i have,ti change my major, but i need relief, and being in nursing n jus bein human,i know pain can kill! I need helo,im in colo.springs,co. I'm dying, have tried EVERYTHING! Have 2 pain specialists, but won't give meds, perc,NOTHING, unless i have surgery, and im not there yet! One doctor, supposedly a PCP, does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR ME! I Was told that Peak Vista doesnt prescribe meds, but my friends get them!!!!! Oh, i have swollen disks in my upper n mid bacj, herniated disjs in lower back, fibromyalgia, chrinic, daily, migraines, vertigo, short-term memory loss, had over 6 surgeries 19 years, shoulder etc.., all from a 2004 car accident. Been to Denver for 2 years, every month, trigger poibts, o.t., chiropractor, laser for my spibe, you nane , I've done it. Someone help w/a caring doc.close or in The Springs pleeez!

I think it sucks that docs do that, I have tried everything else lyrica, tramadol, etc.. and had bad reactions or it didn't work. What would they do for patients like us? That's why I started at CPR I don't want to end up at the hospital again because they want to mess with my meds that have me moving and living. Having chronic pain is more of a pain then the actual pain now. Maybe they are doing that because too many people are trying to go there for pain meds so they are trying to save their butts.

Just an FYI, Unified Health Group will be no longer prescribing (idk if they will still prescribe any non-narcotics or controlled substances) I do know any new patients (New defined as of Feb. 2014) they will only be doing chiro, injections, acupuncture etc. If you are already a patient then you have no worries. I've always thought of CPR for any 2nd options, but thinking about paying 200/250 then 150/175 each visit would eventually tear me apart financially especially when I have medicare. Of coarse there are pro's and cons Unified so far will not increase. Thus far they've decresed my breakthroughs, but have used other meds in conjunction that have helped and I've had more relief. (added somas and lyrica and have helped my nerve pain and spasms so much! This is with my other opiate meds combined that has given me this much relief.

Thanks Thorsen and Rainbow, I have ALL that stuff. But the judge took the information from some doctor I saw twice over 2.5 years ago and used it to her advantage and my doctor's opinion was completely discounted because he's only a PA!!! how ridiculous!!!! He's still been my PCP for almost 5 years!!! And my lawyer is fighting the judge's decision about not having enough proof on her side and not finding in detail the problems that cause me to be denied. It is all about staying vigilant though. Because I know almost 80% of people applying get denied right off the bat and even on the first appeal it's still like 60% of people get denied. They just want to shut everyone down because our government is BROKE!!! But maybe they shouldn't be blowing money like I blow air. They spend like 40k EVERY SECOND!!! And do we see any of it in our economy? NOPE. Do we see any in our schools? Nope. In our fight to maintain our rights? Nope. They just blow it on stupid crap. And it drives me insane.

Hi MAC, I suppose you have a lawyer for SSDI benefits. If you do maybe your lawyer is not working hard enough and need a Certified Social Security lawyer. Also keep in touch with your lawyer every month. Keep every single record about your pain, MRI's, Epidural shots, massage therapies. Acupuncture, and chiropractors etc. These are just a few suggestion to help you out. I wish you good look in getting your benefits. Any questions you have I will be glad to help. Good day.
