Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 229)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

This is weird! I got a call from another pharmacy in lake wood saying they had the Rx for me to pick up and I only see one dr now and that's for pm well and cancer doctor and orthopedic doctor and they said they were ready for me to pick them up.
I said what do you mean, I don't see no doctor that would call anything in for me and I have never been there before to get an RX. Come to find out it was someone at CPR that did it. Another doctor wrote them but it was not my pain medication and it's garbage neurontin and some other crap. Wtf!!! They think that's going to keep me out of withdrawal hell no. I'm a dam nurse and I'm not stupid. I'm not a addict but after you take opioids for ten years even they way you are suppose to, after a few hours your body goes into withdraw. I don't give a f*** who you are, it happens no matter if u abuse it or not. So people that say you don't unless you abuse it, well I got news for you all that think that!!! You are dead wrong and I would never wish the feeling of it on no one. It can kill you and do worse, make you wish u was dead. I'm a nurse so I know all about medicine. Any doctor that would put the patients in jeopardy is a dum a** box of rocks and doesn't care about nothing but money, even if u fail a u/a they should wean you off not cut the patient off, that's so dangerous and they don't care.

If they start getting sued for it this would stop. They need to be cut off and get help but do it over a 6 week time or longer. CPR doesn't care but about the money, I know what happened to them and I will tell you. The dr is hateful to some patients, well one really got mad because they kicked them out!!! So the patient started with the withdrawals and got mad and turned mean. So he went to the medical board and told them what happened to him and who did it and it cause him a lot of trouble medically, so he filed a complaint and they started checking into it. Well they found the doctor did not address the patients other medical problems before stopping him cold turkey and he had high b/p and it was not addressed and a few other things that did not pertain to pain management but the medical board checked into it and I guess they got mad also and made him come in front of the board for this and answer why and how the B/p was overlooked and a few other things like other illegal drugs, methamphetamine and so on. So I guess they pulled his license and he told me that he had to take a exam this week, that's why they had to reschedule all of us, but he had to be in the medical review meeting on the 19th so I guess that's when he could not do the pm no more for now maybe never, but some doctor is in there now calling in and delivered RX to be picked up, but not your pain pills for some reason, but I still have not got a phone call from them yet!!!!

Subs are a wonderful alternative to liquid methadone while trying to quit all opiates, And, like methadone, is arguably harder to quit than the standard opiates used to treat pain. However, suboxone, has no pain relief properties. It is an opiate blocker...meaning you will not get the benefits of opiates and if taken too soon after ingesting opiates, you will go into a recipritative withdrawal, which from what I understand, is far worse than a straight opiate withdrawal, It is not a medicine to take lightly and as of now, has NO pain relief properties. I've run into a few docs that want to switch their opiate dependent patients to suboxone regardless. For most everyone, switching to suboxone for chronic pain patients has no positive results. (Like everything else, if it has a placebo effect on you and does relieve your pain, then go for it). I wish for you all a pain-free (or at least a pain-minimum gorgeous fall Sunday!. Go oitside for at least a few minutes and I promise you will feel better!

Can someone help me find someone to get in soon? I have cancer and if I run out I have sickness from cancer and withdrawls. I don't abuse anything. I take like I'm suppose to be. You still get the withdrawal from the medication and I don't want to die like this. I have kids and grandkids too. I want to live but this could kill me and I don't have a pcp. My insurance has not started yet so I have to pay and my parents and family help me until I get my disability going and insurance. Someone please help me with some numbers. All I take is oxycodone 30 mg 4 x a day, that's it.

Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying the sun! I do agree that if you go outside, it does improve yr mood, but dragging the body out on a painful day is so hard.
CONFUSED - where did you find the Internet info on dea?

For some other posters, if you have cancer, surgery, it is usually not difficult to have yr oncologist, surgeon, ortho to prescribe pain relief as these are allowed under new guidelines. It is chronic pain that is not related to current cancer etc, that is an issue. The problem seems to be the studi s that show opioids have an abuse potential and may not work with chronic pain that is causing an issue. Each individual is different and for many of us, opiates do work on chronic pain.
I am an older lady so didn't need records. He does check yr rx history, so tell the truth, stick with one pharmacy for refills, listen to his suggestions, he has some great ones and is so caring.
That being said, I am going to follow another posters advice and use only the bare min needed so that I don't need to worry if I can't get in right at 30 days.
Think of the payment on a per day basis and it is $5 a day, I will pay that to be pain free.
Good luck with CPR, having been through something like this with my old doc, I understand. Most family docs won't write more than one month for you if that, they don't want the hassle. It is such a shame!

When they are referring to the records and age of 31 that applies to The MMJ card. You have to have records- just what I was told for PM. When Heather was asking ? She asked "are you on anything now"? That's when the recent records request came up.
I can't speak for them. But like I said I was nervous because my Fl Pm Dr. Was not answering for a whole week, so I was so scared they weren't going to fax my records, to my surprise the next Monday my prior doc office faxed my records the same day that Heather from Dr. Hong s office called to schedule to my blessing they got me in in 2 days.
He may make appointment for some if you explain.
Then if I was Hong I would want to know are you going to stay with him or go back to CPR. He probably doesn't care though
If you Google Mmd doctors you will find an address on Lincoln Street. That's him. Eight 7 four 9, elasticity of phone number

Janedoe: Thank you for posting! So, it sounds like both you and Rainbo had two different experiences. After my friend has her appointment, I will post if she was able to be seen or was turned away. I think she will become very anxious when she hears that an appointment was made without arrangements being made for her records to be faxed beforehand. I mean, the PDMP is the most reliable source for other providers to see what we have been taking, who all our previous providers of pain medication were, etc.

Jane What specifically re: DEA? I did post about accessing DORA, the Dept of Regulatory Affairs here in Colorado via the Internet to gather more info on CPR's provider. Click on "verify a license" and then put in provider's name, state, and the information was readily available. However, there were no details. Just enough basic facts to make some sense.

Rainbow Flowers I just read the website info again and I am wrong about what it says. It does say if you're under 31 , they need records, I too am way above 31, but they wouldn't make an appointment without my records maybe because I was coming from out of state, Idk. I feel for all of CPR s patient s. I gave enough info for anyone to find phone number and address you did as well many times,
I'm glad we were able to find him. It wasn't easy for me, I kept looking and looking, I had to scroll back and read everything 2-3 pages back, in want to help ppl

Janedoe: Thanks for posting your experience re: records. Obv., different people are having different experiences. My friend did make an appointment and was told she would need to fill out requests for records forms at her first appointment. She did explain the situation and gave her birth date. She was given an appointment for this week, so I will ask her if I can post what exactly happened once she was there. Goodness!!

As for DEA: The Seattle Times has some articles on "pain patients scrambling" after shut down. Also, web address:

healthcentral.com/chronic-pain/c/317/108819/pain-patients

My posts keep getting snagged for review! Google August 2016 Seattle Times pain patients. Also google rights of chronic pain patients Washington 2016.

Jane: thanks for posting your experience re: records. My friend was able to make an appointment; I will update everyone later in the week with what happened.

This has sure been a stress-filled, anxiety ridden week-end for me. And yet, I am grateful it gave me the chance to connect with other chronic pain patients.

Just for fun, I almost feel like starting a pool: let's guess when(if?) we get called from CPR for our re-scheduled appointments. Does that seem disrespectful?
