Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 208)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Unified health is taking patients on medicade .I saw their ad , I live a block a way. However medicade has to reimburse anyone that can't be seen at pain management in their providers .As for the 3 pill a day thing call look up the Dea protocol on prescription drugs use long term .Medicade will only pay for 3 break thru meds a day period .

CO Susie,

I use Target Pharmacy, and they specifically order Qualitest or Caraco for me. They have it ready on my fill date, and they have done this for over a year for me. Have you tried them?

I have had the same experience. The only brands i have tried that worked for me are the Qualitest and the Caraco. My general practitioner, my PA at the pain management doctor, and the pharmacist at Target and Costco all told me that the fillers are different for different companies, and that they can affect side effects, absorption, and how well the pills work. Good luck to you!

Mac, Part of what you r saying is true, however, different companies use different fillers and the can work with or against your body! This is particarly found in Oxy! Hope it helps!

The only way u will be able to get them on the same day u see the doctor is if your fill date is the day u see the doctor. If thats the case they should let u fill them at your pharmacy. If its not your fill date then they will give them to the mail order service & they will deliver them to u on your fill date. Hope that answers your question. There are a few things that will determine if u get to fill them yourself or not. Hope this helps!!

@Tammy (& anyone else who could help)...was that "are they still practicing?" response to my post about Unified Health in Arvada? They are still practicing but I do not have ANY further knowledge about them and would really appreciate some. I'm very happy that everyone on here seems to be able to find relief and everything they need to live life as pain free as possible thru CPR. Unfortunately, CPR is not an option for me :(
So, any info would help. Been on my meds for 10 years, and need to find a medicade or just not too too $$$ pricey $$$ doc in the boulder/Denver metro/Longmont etc area. (But usually policy is if you have Medicade, you are not allowed to be self-pay.) I really can't afford much and a medicade doc would
be amazing! Like I said, I'm always on this thread, just haven't needed to post in awhile but all my info on my diseases and conditions are posted on here a few months ago. Please help a lil lady out :) I've been able to help some folks on this thread, I'm a kind, good, friendly, caring lady that is desperate since my doc of 6+ years decided to no longer practice pain mgmt. *SOS!!!* my friends!!! Info on Unified Health? Or Medicade doc in central CO area???
Muchlove and best to you all!

I agree, as long as we have our pain under control & are getting our meds I could really care less if im getting my meds in 3doses a day or 5 doses a day. As long as im getting what I need to keep ny pain under control so I can continue to work is all im worried about. I wish everyone the best & hope u guys can get your pain & dosing under control the way I have. Good luck to everyone, im sure after a couple of months we will all be doing great again!!

Tammy I have never noticed any difference between Mallinckrodt, KVK tech, Caroco, Qualitest, they all have an AB rating from the FDA which means they are EXACTLY the same as the name brand. Meaning they function exactly the way that they are supposed to.

Please someone show me where it says that patients can only be prescribed a certain amount of any pain meds a month cause all I find is there is no limit and doctors and pharmacists are using the DEA as an excuse or something fishy is going on.

Medicade will no longer pay for more than 3 pills a day either it's state wide .As long as we get our meds who cares .

I agree it makes no sense me either. I was told they dont want anyone taking over 3 a day for break thru.I do feel that this is due to the dea again & not the doctors. I did hear that the dea doesn't want anyone taking more than 3 a day of oxycodone. Like I said, mine turned out great because they raised my long acting to help cover my pain due to the cut back of my ir meds. I hope there are no more changes coming! Ive went along with every change they have had but its just getting to be a little much now!!!!

tammy2 and all, this is the first day I've posted in this area. I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with KVK Tech products. I was prescribed oxycodone 30mg for several years, and only once in a while would I get what I called the "poison pills". I just assumed that the reason they didn't help with my pain was that the coating was so hard and thick that by the time my stomach finally ate thru, the medicine was no longer any good (found out that really isn't the reason). New doctor (another story) and I was cut without any warning to 20mg oxycodone and nearly half the dosage, then to top that off, the pharmacy gave me KVK Tech pills. I developed some horrible side effects and am very curious if others have had this problem. The pills did nothing for my pain. My mental attitude and abilities were the first side effect, then weakness, all over yucky, then a bladder infection (no history ever of that problem).

I am in Colorado mountains, the nearest large city to me is the Springs. I have been on oxycodone (various milligrams) for nearly 5 years now. I started with a problem a couple of years back. I can not take KVK Tech manufactured oxycodone. Every time I find an independent pharmacy that does carry other manufacturers, I go along a couple months fine, then Whammy, they have nothing but KVK Tech. (long story, but finally found out why). This last one was the Medicine Shoppe, who also assured me that they would have other manufacturers. Then this past month, NO!! Told me that perhaps sometime in September they would have another manufacturer. I need to fill my prescriptions again the end of August, not perhaps sometime in September.

Makes no sense to cut people who are under 90mg of oxy. So they are pretty much cutting people to 3 pills a day no matter what even if its under 90mg a day? I thought as long as it is under 90 then you are fine. Really I don't know what they will do for their out of state patients this month. I feel bad since they set the appointments up at day 29 and they will have to fed ex the meds to them so hopefully for them this month they let them fill their meds at their pharmacy then set up the appointment a few days early so they can be delivered on day 30 for them. Anyone know anything about that at all?

I had my first appointment on Wednesday since they started using the new mail order system. I did get cut back from 5 10mg oxycodone ir to 3 15mg oxycodone ir this visit which is no big deal because they did an increase on my Fentanyl patches from 25mcg to 50mcg. So far so good. I think this mail order is going to work really well here! I was using Cigna mail order before so its really no big change for me. As far as changing the dosage I dont think that was a big thing either because my total dosage is the same but I get it in 3 pills instead of 5. I think this will be a great thing if we all just give it a chance. Hope everyone finds this to be as great of a thing as I do!!

I posted here and ask for info with no response from anyone. Would you please let me know what you find out because it sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I take 6 15mg OxyIR a day and 6 Norco (forget strength as it was recently changed). Thanks SO much!

Hey guys, hope everyone's doing well :)
I'm a regular reader/occasional poster in this thread. I was wondering if anyone had any recent info/feedback on Unified Health Group in Arvada...???...I can't afford CPR...my whole med, pain, doc story is here months, so pages, ago. I have medicade. Have a few diseases, have all records, mri, and am on 4/30mg IR oxycodone & 4/ 40mg ER oxycodone a day. And if no knowledge on Unified Health Group, any help on a doc that takes Medicade and is not CPR in the boulder/Denver area. I'm willing to travel but would obviously prefer not to have to go too far. Really hope you all are doing well and thank you in advance for any help and advice.
*rainbow flowers hope you're able to see and get help from Dr Ryan! Know that whole situation was a hassle and hope it's not anymore!*
Thanks and sending y'all all the best,
K
