Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 182)
(Newest replies first)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Rainbow THANK YOU for standing up for us! The trolls who found this chat and made such disgusting and incorrect accusations needed to know we are not junkies and we believe and stick up for each other.
I asked the Mods to please intervene as people who were truly in pain and had found a support group were being called junkies and being threatened by people to cowardly to state who they were.
Hopefully, going forward, this chat can get back to what I found back in January: a group of people who understand what it's like to fight your way through each day in pain. Someone who totally understands because they live the same way I have to. Family and friends can say they understand but truly no one does unless you have walked in the shoes of a pain patient. Between us all their is a vast amount of knowledge to be shared on everything from different treatments that we might be interested in trying to a topical cream that has really helped to a prescription medicine that had vastly improved out lives. Hopefully we can get back to being a great group of people trying to do our best to support each other!

Gosh I go into the hospital twice for a bleed that is illusive and a few transfusions.... I come back and holy cow WWIII.

I hope everyone is OK. Ignore the trolls. Chemical dependency as a result of pain management vs addiction is moonlight to sunlight. A kernel of source and literally worlds apart.

Everyone,
Thoughts and prayers for all of you with pain, it makes ours lives so challenging. It doesn't fix anything, but hopefully it helps to know that people who don't know you, do care. Special thoughts and prayers for Fuzzy and Wendy, especially touching problems.

Ken, VA is a beautiful state. I lived there, but was too close to DC. You are right about the medical marijuana. I don't know what VA laws are now, have they legalized it for medical use yet?
I was compliant with CO medical use laws, but now that we have gone to the recreational use, I no longer use it. Been looking at alternatives, because it was so helpful with sleep and pain.

Sorry to hear about your pain problems. I have had four spine surgeries and know about pain. One of the meds that help me is a patch called Butrans each patch lasts 7days. I have been going to Denver Pain Management for meds for the last five years they are great I get enough meds to be completely painless most of the time. They are in Greenwood Village great drs.

Anna, Gabapentin. My husband is a diabetic and was prescribed gabapentin to help with the nerves in his feet. His doctor warned him prior about many people having problems with it. He was one who had nothing. I do mean nothing. No adverse, but no noticeable improvement. He has an appointment coming up, which I want to talk to her about taking him off the gabapentin. It's been a slow process but he's up to six different medications a day now. We finally were able to get his vein surgery done this fall, which seems to be helping his nerve endings. His feeling has improved and the tingling sensation is going away. The whole problem may have been blood flow and not diabetes LOL.
Something as well known as diabetes, still seems to still have a lot of hit and miss with treatment. I know part of that is because we are all so physically different, but I do think part of it is due to medications that aren't effective.
His doctor, as well as mine, have said they have noticed an increase with patients having problems with generic and substitute medications, resulting in that they want most of our prescriptions filled exactly as written, and many times put that on the prescription.
Wasn't gabapentin another of the drugs that was originally marketed as an anti-depressant, and is now being prescribed for many other uses? I know that Lyrica as gone through an evolutionary process, it was an anti-depressant, arthritis, pain and whatever else ails you marketing process. It doesn't seem to be very effective for any of the ailments. I think it should only be prescribed for people who want to gain weight LOL.

Anna, Oh my goodness, so even in the world of medical marijuana there's crazy stuff. I thought I had a "one-person-me-stupid" experience, but I ate a rice crispy treat made by a different caregiver, who was trying to get business, and I had a really crazy reaction. I was so paranoid, I couldn't even go into the bathroom, finally had to force myself. No idea what boogey man was in there, but he was out to get me, Your poor brother. That must have been horrible for him. It would surprise me if he ever tried anything new again. That sounds as horrible as some people have said about Acid in the 70s.
Edibles was a learning experience for me, and I too am really careful about anything I put into my body, have had so many weird and awful reactions through the years, I'm just a total paranoid about anything new. I was so lucky because my caregiver was very knowledgeable and very helpful by spending time with me, so that we could get it right and it wouldn't be another awful experience for me. Have you seen the banking commercial where they tell the lady that trying new things is a good thing, then it flashes onto her having horrible new thing experiences, that's my life LOL.
I started with baking the brownies myself, with a lower amount than most people would start with, which was great because that's all I did need. Caregiver explained completely about waiting for the effect and not eating more just because I didn't think it worked. Next night I did eat a brownie and a half, that was the right amount and I slept better with less pain than I could remember for a long time.
I haven't been doing edibles because of the changes in the law, my caregiver is no longer a caregiver, I have no faith in the unknown shops, who grew it, with what, what is the intended effect, the price, just on and on. The caregiver suggested that I try growing a plant or two for my own use, and he would give me help on which strain, and the process. It sounded complex, so I'm thinking that one over.
I have lots more to share, but I'm going to end this post and do a second one LOL

Rainbow... Thank you for posting about your appt... Mine has been the same... Whoever this Sick person is had no idea about Mr.S...
I'm not calling it this, but CPR seems like more of a pill mill than anyone. Pay a flat fee and get prescriptions? No insurance accepted, right? Interesting.

I hope all of you have a better day... I'm not going to lie, I was SUPER angry at Sick and his cohort yesterday... It takes A LOT to get me mad. I hope he/she is gone... ??

Thank you Rainbow , a lot of mine wouldn't go thru either.I couldn't even answer Fuzzy about a plant .How come I get message must be reviewed , but junkie talk out their butt ?This is probably not gonna mean a lot to most of you, but we can't change what in the past or what might happen .And making our self sick worrying over if Mr S will be ok that's nuts .Of course he will , and if not Colorado pain management in Boulder takes medicade .People we are sick already do we need more bs ? At least your not a guinea pig with benefits I am .Because I'm on the terminal list Cpr trick me into trying a new med .5000 a unit 4 puffs .100 mg Charles told me won't even face me but that's how they get medicade to pay.I go home and read all the crap and it tells me The pharmacy that gets the patient to sigh up and use the med get bonus .Cpr gets bonus .Their was a med rep already there waiting so I could sign all the waivers .This med is worse than oxy, withdraws .Charles told my husband within seconds I'll be non functional .isn't that going the wrong way ? I don't want to be a zombie .
