Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 182)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

No luck whatsoever. I find one down South here but I am on a waiting list and won't get in until March the earliest. Right now I see a doc up north who takes nothing but cash. I had no choice. Dr. S. was mandataed by his boss to stop writing any narc. scripts. I had a week to find a replacement. How are things for you and Tom??

Doctor Ehlenberger runs a pain clinic down here in the New Orleans area called Accurate Pain Management for all who need it.

Hey Guys!
I found many "medicaid" docs, they say they take medicaid but when u actually try to schedule they say that they can't take anymore medicaid patients. I talked to medicaid about this and they r supposed to get back to me. Literally I had 3 doctor's that they gave me as medicaid providers and not one would take me.
Wendy, I sure understand, if we could afford $180, we wouldn't b on medicaid! How r u feeling and did u get the help u need? I'll finally b getting back to work here soon but I'll take months before I get caught up. If u have any ideas to help with utilities and such, I could use any ideas.

I agree with you 100%. I just moved here and am having the worst time because of people who abuse and I'm so young. I have had 23 surgeries and degenerative disc disease, fibro myalgia and neuropathy. I have been on 8-10 30 mg oxycodone for 10 years. Know they won't do it cutting me less than half and on long acting wich would be ok if I could afford it. I don't have insurance right know and no one cares. I have never been made to feel so bad and stupid for being in pain and having to take the meds you doctors put me on. I just want a dr that listens to me and looks at case by case not overall. Let me know if any luck. And that's it too cause it's so hard us who need the meds and have real pain look like dr shoppers and its bulls***.

I am so amazed how judgemental people are, and how they know exactly how my body feels,. You can make a lot of money being that kind of a mindreader. sorry, I is so fustrationg how Doctors don't even want to treat a person with chronic pain or degerative disease because their is no cure. I thought doctors were to help their patients.My pain management doctor in the springs is retiring I am so sad, he would actually listen to me as a person, if anyone knows of a pain doctor in the springs please let me know, I have been seeing pain doctors for many years, however Colorado is sure different that Arizona.

Wendy how are ya its rainbow do u no why they stopped at tha Smith's writin our scripts??? Or any word of a pain clinic that excepts Medicaid?? Denver health gives u meds but idk if all tha doctors are them same but after 3months they wil start wingin u off even if u have true problems and u need pain meds... Idk idk

I've been on methadone since I was 17yrs old due to a drunk driver. My life changed drastically since then. Recently my doctor of many yrs had to stop practicing due to cancer unfortunately. It's been four months since then and it has been a true nightmare . I'm over 50yrs old, I don't know where to go or who to talk to. I was lucky to find a clinic but it didn't last long because they "also" like many others due to new laws and regulations they are unable to care for me anymore. They were nice enough to send me on my way with an extra prescription but that isn't going to help me in the months ahead. I'm scared and I am sorry for anyone else having to go through this. I can hardly walk let alone move without my medication I'm on a low dose but enough to make life tolerable. If anyone knows of any doctor that may be able to help pose let me know. Prairie, Colorado Pain Management takes cash. I haven't found any others that do. Rainbow, Good to hear from u. I've been working hard on the medicaid angle. There r tons that take medicaid per the website and I've called pretty much everyone and I keep getting the same run around. "Yes, we take medicaid and currently r at our quota!" I've asked if I could pay until an opening occurs or any type of arrangement, called medicaid and questioned why this is happening and they literally have no doc's available for folks that truly can't afford to pay 180 a visit. I've requested a supervisor to call me and even with calling constantly no one has answered my call. Denver Health does have a program, I believe it's mostly methadone but will write script's for other meds if methadone isn't clinically appropriate. I'm really frustrated, if u hear of anything please let me know. Karina, Where r u located? Do u have insurance? We can give u names of docs we either know of or been to ourselves. It's horrible being in pain, difficult anytime and worse during the holidays. Believe me, we do understand! It's excellent u have provided the petition and everyone needs to b involved and sign. That might depend on the doc. I go thru my GPA for benzo. CPR doc didn't do it for me but knows I'm on them.

What Dr did you find. I'm in serious need for a Dr. Have had several back and neck surgeries. New to area .Need a Dr that is reliable and understands a true need for pain meds and anxiety meds as well.

Rainbow, Yes! I have heard of him. He's associated with the Littleton Porter Hospital. I've heard mixed reviews. Some say he will do inj's. and interventional pain management and others say he does do full pain management. May have more to do with insurance than preference. He's supposed to be a nice guy and when he does farm u out for meds it's to doc's who take your insurance, so I'd say it's worth a try. Let me know what u find out.
