Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 175)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

It's almost got to be a money thing, otherwise why push it? Any drug that lists warnings that are worse than whatever condition I'm trying to treat, I want nothing to do with. Especially the ones that list fatal side effects and what I'm trying to treat is far from fatal, annoying but not fatal. If I had a fatal condition, I'd take anything that's offered. Nothing to lose, and perhaps one of those drugs could save me. I had a dermatologist doing evaluations to put me on Humira for a skin condition, and it has side effects of cardiac problems and cancer. Please, I'll live with the rash, thank you. My PM gave me a shot and a cream, surprise the rash went away. The all over body rash was one of the many stupid problems I've faced since January. It was everywhere except the soles of my feet and the palms of my hands. LOL

The ER had to contact Humana, who I have, to get approval for the Xarlto, which I didn't want anyway. Thankfully, my PM put me back on the Warfarin on Tuesday. Tomorrow I have to go get the blood test to see where my thinness is at, then they'll adjust my dose and we'll be off to the races, getting rid of this clot.
I figured that the race car driver who advertises Xarlto on TV must be really stupid to be taking a drug that has no antidote. If he gets into a car accident, they have no way to stop the bleeding, blood transfusions don't even help. You just bleed. Then I figured, he probably doesn't even take Xarlto, it's most likely in the fine print that you can't read that he's just a paid spokesperson LOL

Hi Everyone,

I guess I must be child like, much more than I thought. I've always thought that the FDA was an agency that was put into place to protect us as consumers. A friend was helping me do some research on the drug Xarelto that I've been talking about. She found information that the panel at the FDA while reviewing this drug, had great concerns about safety for the consumers and didn't want to approve it's release onto the market. I believe the drug is manufactured by Johnson and Johnson, but no reflection on them, because I think any company would do what they've done. Anyway, the FDA released Xarelto for marketing even though they thought it wasn't in the best interest of the consumer. The FDA released this drug because the company had so much money invested in the development of the drug. That worries me greatly. If we can't trust the FDA to make decisions based on what is best for us, who is left to protect us at all? Almost every drug costs huge sums of money for any company to develop, so why would that even be a factor considered in the approval process used by the FDA? Same with meat products, companies have huge sums of money invested in animals, butchering, processing, packaging, marketing, delivery etc. Is the FDA going to allow tainted meat to be sold, because a company has a large sum of money invested?

My grandmother has been taking Xarelto for years... I've begged her to stop because she falls occasionally... I've tried to tell her about the danger. She says that with X, you don't have to get blood tests... But she's at the dr all the time anyway, so what's the difference?! It's so scary to me :(

MtnGrl,

You can do some checking on the Xarelto, but what I was reading, once you are on it for a while, you can't get off it without increasing your risks of stroke and other problems. Sometime, without getting your Grandma mad at you :) see if you can get a copy of the insert that comes with it when she picks up her meds. That's the kind of stuff that upsets me with the doctors. Do they not read any of the literature before they start prescribing, or are they just going by what the sales person who dropped off some samples says?

Forgotten and now gone_ Wait one minute. There is always more than one option....always. if finding a doc is what you need then we can help. Finding a good GP for nonnarcatic med we can help with that too. But most importantly we have gro I put meetings every Wednesday. Listen in on one is all I recommend. What can it hurt?

I am new to Colorado. I entered "pain management willing to manage narcotic pain meds" for very legitimate medical reasons. This thread from 2012 popped up!!!!! Wow, like its 2015 and I cant imagine how hard it is now. But if anyone legitimate can offer any knowledge on the how and who, please be so kind to share so it can help the move and adjustment a lot smoother! I would appreciate any help. thanks

I moved here a year ago. If you are on medicaid, try to get on one of their programs that is affiliated with Denver Health. I did and found a great doctor at the Lowery Campus. If you have current records showing a legit need for pain meds, he will follow the program that has been working for you.
If you have regular insurance, my new doc in Parker believes heavily in Pain Management and has no issue with prescribing my opiate pain meds.
I have had no problem finding doctors in Colorado that will prescribe, but it has to be legit and proven need. There is no need to go to these cash only "pain doctors" as far as I can see.

Hi All!

I am and have been in need of another neck surgery and fusion. I had my C3-4 dome but now need:
C4-5
Fix the hernia and bulging disk at 6-7
Remove bone spurs
Have DDD (degenerate disk disease)
Pinched nerves that PT and other remedies have not helped.

Im close to Denver and wondering who you would recommend for a neurosurgeon? I just cannot take this anymore. :(

Thank you ALL!!

May I get the name of your doctor? I have insurance and more than enough MRI's, records and such to prove I am legit. I searched but found a list of different offices but would hate to have to see (and pay) each just to find the one you speak so highly of. Thank you in advance!

Bill,
Just got back from having to drive to UT and back to see my doctor staff. Would love to meet this doctor of yours in Parker. Help me out? Spinal surgery in Salt a lake City ando refused a fusion in choice of living with some pain. A LOT worse than before but my day is 24/7 pain. Again, just a lot better than before.

I'd love to hear about the doc's in Parker also. As u guys who have been on here from the beginning, u know I've always supported and gone to CPR. I am more than disappointed with how I've been treated lately. Several months ago, one script wasn't written. I called immediately and was told the doc was absolutely sure the script was written. A week later, I looked everywhere and could find no script. I called again and was told the script would be rewritten but in a threatening manner was told "if another script is presented, I'd b fired". Now I've been going there over 2 years, haven't flunked a u/a and done as instructed. I felt very uncomfortable and waited an additional week to make sure no one took my script. So basically, I was out of my correct dose for close to 3 weeks. The second month, I had similar issues and ended up getting my script 21 days later. Finally, in the third month of this occurring, I suggested only filling enough of the script to get me to my next appointment and get everything on one day. I also prior to all this and I should have called sooner but I had scheduled a moving van to move my son. Plus for some clerical reasons I was informed that my medicaid would be inactive one day prior to my fill date. Well on the move, I lost a $250 deposit, ending up with a van, making the move impossible. My medicaid, called everyone to explain the situation and again it was one day early. I basically was told tough luck. Thank God Medicaid didn't have that attitude because I couldn't afford $600+ in meds and they were furious that the doc didn't have the compassion or for sight to write the script one day early. So it's not just me that's questioning whether things r thought through or not. I called and spoke with the powers that be to c if I could c the other doc, only to find out she quit. I have been scheduled for oral surgery then replacing my pacemaker. Last year, my surgeon for the oral surgery quit literally the day of my preop. I was scheduled multiple times, each time, I was cancelled because of changes in staff, insurance and such, none of my issues. Believe me, between continual infections and the pain associated with these broken teeth, I wanted things done immediately. I finally had my surgery done and although my surgeon was more than comfortable with writing my scripts but I wanted to follow the rules and have cpr do my pain management. To make a long story short. It was two days before I received my pain medication and more faxes from my surgeon than anyone could imagine. With the weekend coming up, I was trying to b proactive and called about a refill. I was informed that my surgeon again had to fax a request and frankly, I doubt anything will b done. I try hard to follow all the rules but now my surgeon is furious about the time this has taken and angry. Basically, it would have been easier for him to just write the scripts for me. I'm really disappointed in cpr, their attitude has changed and not for the better. I'm looking around and there are many pain management choices than there were a few years back. My questions are two fold, am I just being a pia and who does anyone suggest if I decide to change. This isn't an easy choice for me as I really like the folks at cpr, unfortunately, they aren't who is taking care of u. Having someone's migraine make a mistake that's hard on you, isn't my issue but more importantly, why should I feel threatened and afraid when I haven't done anything wrong. I've hesitated writing this but today just put me in a really bad place. I hurt, I typically work as hard as I can and am pleasant but I sure haven't been lately. Also, does anyone know where Dr Glaser went? Shr was awesome and bright. As you guys know, I'm usually the voice of reason and I'm over it. Let me know guys what u think!

Something has happened at CPR! Dr. Frisbee has been hostile, confrontational and condescending. He has never been this way before. Dr. GLAZER quit. New suboxone Dr.
I have been going there for 5yrs, never have has any issues and suddenly I am treated as if I am suspicious.
I am telling you, something has happened!

Smalls, That makes me feel so much better. I've also been there years and have been more than happy with my care. Hectares has been up, down and sideways. I've had mistake after mistake on my scripts, been threatened and trying to b medicated post op was a mess, infuriating my operating doc. He said he wished he himself just wrote my scripts. I've tried to find Dr Glaser without success. I can't believe it but after months of mistakes, I am looking elsewhere. I will go this month only because of A mandatory but complaints to Leonardo fall on deaf ears. I'm disappointed.

Understand your pain. Have lived with the same symptoms for many years. I would never have been able to have worked 33 years at a very strenuous job if I had not had very strong medication for pain. I too have a problem with the folks that have never had a pain issue but are so quick to judge us that are in constant pain. From my experience you will be better off with a good GP than a pain management clinic. My pain management clinic was a total failure. I trust you get a good doctor that is willing to listen instead of being judge. Pain is very real.
