Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 174)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Yes, my pcp suddenly dropped my prescription, referral to pain specialist, 3 of those, none would continue with meds on for over ten yrs now. So now just cut off, even anti anxiety meds too, which I really need more now that pain meds r gone. In Denver, moving there. I have copies of my medical file from Pcp. Prior pain Dr. died a couple yrs ago so my pcp was stuck back with scripts, but can't fill anymore, and I can't find a pain Dr that will either.

Hey Susie, I think everyone's been end of summer busy. Just wondered if anyone has heard from Rainbow or Mountain Girl? Did u guys meet up? Wondering if anyone found a place that takes Medicaid? Have looked around and found nothing. Take care!

I've been wondering how you've been doing? I had an experience with my leaky boob. Then ultrasound came up with two lumps, so had the lumps, gland, and some tissue removed on Aug 5th. Also had a girly growth show on the well woman exam, so had that removed on the 17th. And now I have another DVT, left leg and the one in the right leg is returning. That's what's been up with my summer.
How's it been going for you?

Hi everyone,

Headed off to another doctor's appointment. That's my social life now LOL. The ER doctor put me on Xarelto 15mg 2xt last week, even with me telling him that I've used Warfarin before and wanted Warfarin. Xarelto has no antidote, so if you're in a car accident, they can do nothing to stop the bleeding and certainly can't do any surgery. That's why all the 1 800 bad drug legal suits are going on.

Have any of you experienced doctors that just totally blow you off? After all, they know all and just because it's your body and your life, why should you have any choice?

yes several, even had a few that wouldn't touch me. Acted like they were going to catch something. In fact there are too many to list. Tried to turn one of them into DORA that was a joke. Health care has gone to the dogs.

Oh my goodness, did I ever end up wasting a week of progress that I could have had. The ER doctor did it his way and wrote the script for Xarelto. Yesterday at the doctor's office, I found out there's not a way to do an easy test to even check if the Xarelto is working. My PC said to stop the Xarelto yesterday and start the Warfarin today. My body is slow with accepting the thinning agent, last blood clot I had to take two series of the shots to begin to see results. So I take a very large dose of the Warfarin today and Thursday, Friday I go in to do an INR to see where my blood is and to adjust the med level.
I don't know if it's because I'm a Chronic Pain Patient or if my body has always been this way, but I'm super sensitive to any changes of medications. Headaches, rash, tummy trouble, just all over feel crummy when I make a change. I don't understand why a new (or different) doctor can't listen to what's gone on with me. It's almost as if they don't care what has happened in the past, they have a new designer drug that they want to use, so we're going to use it regardless.
I've been through this with pain medication. The new designer "pain" medications, don't do anything for my pain except I get sick in addition to being in pain. The old fashion opiates are the only drugs that seem to do what they're suppose to do. I've had doctors insist that I try the new designer drug, so I end up doing that.
Why do we have to keep reinventing the wheel?

Kaiser will not even entertain the thought of ZARELTO or LYRICA! My PC said that they are to New of a drug and have to many unknowns. I am truly sorry you were used as a guinea pig. I hope you feel better soon

If you scroll back to the beginning of this chat, there are lists of good pain clinics here in Colorado. NONE OF THEM WILL TAKE MEDICAID HOWEVER! Most are cash only!

Susie... I'm right there with you! I've been sent to PM after my surgery (apparently fusions can take up to a year to heal). I really like my new guy... he gave me a "regular" med and Lyrica to try (I have Kaiser, btw). The Lyrica is AWFUL. It made my face numb... I go see him again soon, and I hope he isn't upset that I'm not taking the Lyrica. I haven't had any luck with Cymbalta, Lyrica, or gabapentin... they all make me feel "weird".
I'm really sorry your new dr didn't listen to you. It's so frustrating when we aren't listened to as patients. Hugs!

I go to the Colorado Pain Clinic in Golden. They are cutting my Oxycontins until I take less than 120 MG equivalent of morphine daily. I also have MRI xray, cat scans, etc. to prove my pain. I have until December 31st to meet their new rules.

I don't do well with any of the "new designer" drugs. They don't seem to agree with my system. Lyrica is one of the drugs several doctors have tried to push on me, doesn't matter that I've tried it before LOL Seems like my system accepts drugs that have been on the market for a long time, lots easier than the new ones.
One of my newer friends had a two level disc fusion and her healing time ran around 18 months. She had a level 3 to 4 and level 4 to 5. Which levels did you have your fusion done?

So great to hear from you. Hope you're doing well.
Like I told MtnGrl, Lyrica sure isn't a drug for me LOL

Susie... I had my left si joint done.

I don't understand why they keep pushing the new stuff... Unless there are kickbacks involved. All the side effects are very scary!
