Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 17)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Dude, f100. Maybe you could read the FIRST POST OF THE FORUM!!!!! Which is under my name before you start talking s*** about me!!! What the hell do you want me to do??? Pull up yellowpages for your state and start giving you random doctor names????? Or maybe YOU can figure it out or go to the right forum. If you are having a hard time reading, I'll read it for you. "Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In COLORADO" Sorry dude but I feel your pain when you can't find a doctor. But if you think I get a commission for this you're dumber than most. I started this forum to help myself and others. And I don't even understand where the hell this is coming from. Is it because I told you I can't help you???? You're a fool if you call someone from another state out because they don't seem "helpful" to those in other states. I CAN'T BE HELPFUL IN OTHER STATES BECAUSE I'M A COLORADO NATIVE!!!! And I don't appreciate the bad mouthing and judging. So take it somewhere else. If you can't find a forum for your state, then I don't know what to tell you. Do it the old fashioned way and pick up a phone book and start calling doctors!!! That's what I had to do with my doctor before I was recommended by Tammy to CPR. There are Colorado Drs on here, and that's it..... Because it's a forum for people in CO. Other than those doctors, I don't know what else you expect to get off of this forum except bad replies from the real helpers on this forum because you run your mouth when you know nothing.

And thank you Tammy and Janey for the backup!!! I WISH I was getting a commission for trying to help others and myself. Like Tam said, it's nice to see who actually sticks up for people. F100, if you want to come to CO from Nebraska, then read through the forum and find a doctor you think you would like and call them to see what they have to say. I don't know what else to tell you man. But if you can't find the right help on this forum, take your browsing somewhere else. I don't want that kind of crap on my forum.

Thank you MaC686! From another Coloradian, i can't thank you enough for your help..shocked by the message from f100...

No problem AJP. And I am shocked by his message as well. From my experience the people that talk like that are the people who want to sit around and judge everyone else for the splinter in their eye when he's got a log sticking out of his own eye. For him to get all pissed that I said I can't help him because he's out of town is just stupid. And if he wants to come to CO then the name of the doctor AND the practice is posted NUMEROUS times throughout this forum and he should look at that. The whole commission bulls*** is just ridiculous. If he would read the beginning of this forum then he would see that I was referred to CPR by Tammy. And that his nonsense he is talking has no place on this forum to people trying to help others (me). I started this forum. I won't have some douche talking s*** to me. And f100, WHAT EXACTLY are these facts that I need to know before posting???? Maybe you should get your facts correct. LIKE NOT ACCUSING PEOPLE OF RECEIVING COMMISSION DOUCHE!!!

maC686 Whoa I didnt mean to insult you or any body else for that matter. I apoligize to you, I have been in this same boat most of you were are am in. I had a dr. give me a name of some one to call to recommend a dr in texas for me and he was a patient and recieved a grant they called it to help 8 of us find a doctor, but he only nkew of one. So thats why I asked that question. I have seen dr. tennat in california he is one of the best pain drs out there. He only takes emergency patients and does take out of state people. But like most drs you have to be on the level and not a dr shopper. Maybe this will help someone out there. My son died two years ago from meds he was getting foe his neck proplems, I know he was taking methadone and it stores up in your system and your bones then can release all at once. You all should be careful of any meds now a days.

Mac, it's a pleasure to back u up! You will never know how many folks u have helped by reaching out for help yourself! It takes a good and brave person to do so! If folks will take the time, which of they don't, I question that all they need is a quick fix but there are many Doc's listed here! Just because thanks to Tam, we have found an awesome group and are sold on them doesn't mean anyone is benefitting from them except in the excellence of care we have received! I have offered many resources, believe it or not, I used to run a pain management program, only to find myself years later needing one myself! It isn't an easy road for any of us! It's been a tough path! Having our needs questioned at every turn! I just had a friend admitted to a local hospital where they decided Thay he was taking too many meds, although he's been on the same dose for years! They cut his usual dose to one fourth of what he typically took and of course, ended up in withdrawals! To "fix" it they gave him one pull more! It saddens me as a medical professional that even Dr's are biased and uneducated to the needs of a chronic pain patient! Thank goodness for your string! It opened many doors for many folks and made them not feel alone! I applaud u for your strength in asking for help! We r all here for one another! To u my friend, I thank u!

Thanks again JaneyGirl. And thank you for the apology f100. But you have to see where I'm coming from. This forum is filled with people in CO that you can try. And me saying that since you're in a different state I don't think anyone can help you on this forum isn't me not wanting to help people. That's the whole reason I started this forum was to help others in my same position. And Janey, it means so much to me to hear that from you. I never thought starting this forum would help so many people. But that's the reason I've always tried to stay in quick contact with the people on it, so that I can try to help. f100, no hard feelings. Just know that your idea of me getting a commission couldn't be more misplaced and foolish. I am only 22 and my back is that of a 70 year old. So I have no hidden agenda man.

Thanks maC686, I'm 57 and have been dealing with gack problems since I was 23 so I can understand where you are coming from. My son died 2 yrs ago at age 28 and we know that methadone and his other meds may have played a part in his passing. So since then I wanted to try and help the people here in nebraska that can not get the meds they need to live a better life. Here all the pain drs want to do is put inplants in more surgery? not for me. I want to apoligise for my comments to you again. I know of a couple of drs in california that see people from out of state. when I read some of the post on your forum that people about them having thier drs quit prescribing thier meds I can relate. It has happened to me three time in the last ten years so I know a little about this subject as I have been on meds for 20 yrs and going countless drs for help. If anyone you know that needs help and can travel then I can help them find it. thanks for your words and wish you the best F100

I believe CPR has a satellite facility out of state! I can't remember where the Dr's out of state office is! Do any of u guys remember? I'd try calling his office and ask! They may also have referrals out of state! There is also a national program called "Dr's Against Pain", there are doc's clear across the country listed there! I do agree with Mac, I think given the laws that you really can't go across state lines to obtains scripts anymore and u probably would find a lot of support within your own community, if I were u, I'd start my own string! There has got to b someone in Omaha that specializes in pain management! Believe me, we all understand the frustration that quickly becomes anger when trying to cope with issues on a daily basis! U have to reach out as all of us did and try to contact folks within your community to get truly good resources! They have made so many changes here in Colorado legally that many Dr's have frankly stopped doing pain management, leaving many here without help! Florida and Colorado had one of the highest uses of heavy duty narcotics across the nation! To "pull this practice in" they made the across the state monitoring of pharmacies, limited amounts that u r allowed to b prescribed and closely monitoring Dr's to the point that it's not worth their licenses to even prescribe meds! Many pharmacies won't even fill ER scripts without talking to the Dr themselves! Many Dr's don't return these types of calls for days or ER Doc's may never return them! Can u imagine breaking your leg and not b able to fill your pain meds for days? So it's not just effecting chronic pain folks but everyone! Legislation has admitted that "perhaps" they have gone too far the opposite way but until they have figured it out we all are suffering! ER's r packed with folks hurting and now they aren't allowing any narcotic medications to b prescribed! Once again, like insurance determining what type of health care can b provided, we now also have pharmacies dictating what dosage of medications is appropriate and how many u r allowed! Several large pharmacies here make it so impossible to get your legal prescription filled that it almost makes it again impossible to stay within your "pain agreement" and only fill at one pharmacy! One place won't even carry one type of medication, another won't allow the dosage u r prescribed! Luckily I've found a pharmacy that will carry the types of meds I'm on, I've been with them 14 years and have taken care of many pain folks! So do your homework even after u have found a Dr! Some pharmacies don't give u your script back and it's difficult to get it replaced! So do start your own string, ask folks in your area for help, check online resources like Dr's Against Pain and there r others out there, do your homework check out the Dr's and pharmacies, u don't want to get with a Dr only to have them shut down due to over prescribing and don't give up! U maybe the first to post a question but believe me, u see the help u can receive and there r many others out there having the same problems! There is comfort knowing I aren't the only one! Unlike hospitals and Dr's folks here won't just give u a list and make u do all the work yourself, u will find real answers and not just b turffed off! Hang in there, it's your life, u can make choices that r right for u! I saw four Dr's before CPR and it probably looked like I was "Dr shopping" but I wanted a doc that cared about me and not just wanting to make 30" bucks for 10 minutes! Lastly, be careful about doc's that push "interventional treatments", as one doc told me, when a doc can make 1500 bucks giving a shot or 300 to write a script, long term wise, what would u encourage? The script or the shot that both take the same amt of time! Interventional treatments do help folks but if u have been down this route before, question! U r paying for your treatment, make sure u r comfortable with the treatment they suggest! We r legitimate patients with legitimate issues and if u aren't being treated that way, that doc isn't for u! I hope this helps and as I've said many times, thank goodness Mac reached out! He will never know how many people he has helped, I can assure u even though many people don't take the time to respond there are thousands that read what is written! U too can do this for your area!

f100, I've had doctors so prescribing 3 times in 5 years..... I've had these problems since I was 17.... And I'm sorry about your son. I lost my sister a month before my 21st birthday when we had been planning to go to Vegas because I was turning 21 and some stupid psych doctor was prescribing her seroquel, ambien, oxycodone, soma, xanax, and anti-depressants...... She was doing SOOO well the week before she passed because she got it under control. But I think her tolerance dropped from not taking them so once she got into a stressful spot and took her same amount of meds her body couldn't handle it. And now my niece and nephew are out of my lives because their fathers won't bring them around, living without their amazing mother, and my family living without our best friend. My sister's husband won't even talk to my family because he is holding himself away because he doesn't want the memory, which I can understand but at the same time you don't take a child away from her mother's family because she passed away..... It makes me cry just typing this. It is BY FAR the hardest experience I've EVER had in my life, and I don't know if anything will surpass it.... So I know your feeling, and my parents know it as well. It just SUCKS, because even though they might not have been abusing their meds they are lumped in with the group of junkies because they lost their lives to abusing their medication..... I hate it. And the fact that I am thrown in the bunch with her and others because I still have to take meds pisses me off. I lost my sister and am not going to stop living a semi-normal life because she is gone..... I have to have my pain under control so I can live a semi-normal life and make her proud of what I'm doing with my life. Once again, my deepest apologies for you and your family about your son. I wouldn't wish a family death on my worst enemy. Especially being the messenger that had to tell my whole family. Hardest day of my life........ I guess that plays into me being a little standoffish when people accuse me of bulls***.

There also is a Dr Juterzoncki in the Springs that was very good also! He specializes in "patients that other Dr's don't want to deal with"! I used to use him for clients in the past, it's been about 10+ year's but he was good! There also is an anesthesia guy and I can't remember his name but I'll look it up, he was excellent! U can try those guys in the Springs area!

maC686. I'm sorry to here about your sister. My heart goes out to you. Being so young and having to live on pain meds the rest of your life is a hard thing to accept. and when young people that really need the meds get lumped into the drug seeking catagory that really gets me going. I hope that you and your parents will be able to see your sisters children soon. I can't believe that your brother in law wont bring them to see you all. Think he could drop them off for a visit and come back later to get them, he should want to be around you all just to keep your sister memory alive. I do know drs. in california that take out of state patients. You should look up dr forest tennant, he is the formost dr on pain and has published many papers on pain. He has a handbook for pain patients with intractable pain which is pain that can not be relieved ever by surgery or any other means. Jost google his name, you may find this info helpful. I wish the best for you and you family as it sounds like you all have had enough heart ache. Thank you for your words ab out my son. Also my apology for my earlier comment. F100
