Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 169)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

CO to FL hey you, thx for go ahead on the lengthy posts ;-) The law was over 1000 pages of bull s***. Very few in congress were even permitted to read the law before it passed. At the time the dems were the majority in house n senate n of course Obama...what a guy, huh? Really works for the ppl. Its a form of govt control n mandates. Its against keeping older ppl quality of care n life. Its ridiculous. Its one of those things I pray hard for that gets changed. Time for a republican. Hope I dont offend anyone with politics but Im soooooo sick of how he waz allowed to appoint all these czars to created positions of power. C'mon, ramming all this crap down our throats n telling the american ppl its for own good? How many of us here feel like its for our own good? Im hoping my student insurance will be better. Im attempting to go to school full time n work n you know keep all the balls in the air. I just found out its another $200 just to add my kid to car insurance ouch! On top of already paying $200 for the dr visits. Man I can barely keep my head above water. I dont get a normal paycheck every two weeks. I invoice for hours worked. Im working towards shares in a company n defer much of hourly earnings. Its seems the closer it gets to happening, the more I get the feeling Im being played. I used to get paid like clockwork from this company. Send invoice n check would arrive w/ in 7 days. Now, Im owed for 2 months of work. I was just told a check was cut for 1/3 of what Im owed. Thats just enough to take care of the house payment with some left over to take care of essentials. Sorry Im having a vary tough 4th. Im in w/d right now. I have to go this party today/tonight. Have no idea how Im going to do that n appear normal but its at my youngest sons friend's house n I barely know his parents. I really hope cpr can get me in quick n help me. Im on day twi of nothing but muscle relaxer. Cant believe Im in this position. So, when are you planning the big move back? Why are you moving back? You dont have to answer that if its too personal. Hope everyone is having a happy 4th. Enjoy!

Tammy, we weren't given full details, but sometime last Thanksgiving (2014) it seems he had an accidental overdose of medication and stopped breathing in his sleep. I do not have access to his facebook, but that's how we found out. His best friend came and posted, and that was very sad. We also lost Fuzzy, apparently she had a brain issue and left behind a husband and little girl. After losing two different members Janey made the point we have to be even more careful about what we offer, and who we refer. The sense of helping those we can totally relate to vs. being fooled by someone who may abuse what they are offered. Such a fine line, but one that is ages old. I personally don't know what'd I'd do if we lost another person.

I wish I had more to offer in the info department when dealing with medicade. I will research more before the next support group. I'm on medicare, with a full policy from my work, so I am not limited to medicare offices. I did the self pay for a year with one pain doctor and after he left and I started at an office that takes my insurance I don't want to ever go back to self pay if I can help it. The self pay doc just up and left and there was no one to go to...at least with a group that takes insurance it's usually a group and someone can help you until you find what you need upon retirement, death, whatever reason a doctor stops seeing patients.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend! Be well

I know this is from 2012, so it may not be read. But you need to get off those Roxie 30's & Methadone. Most rehabs won't even accept Methadone patients, because Methadone reaches every opiate receptor in the body. It's almost impossible to detox from it!! I had severe back problems as well, and justified Roxie 30's, Opana, whatev the doc gave me. *THERE IS NO ETHICAL DOCTOR THAT WILL EVER PRESCRIBE THESE ON A LONG-TERM BASIS FOR PAIN.* There are MANY other ways to manage pain. Those should only be after acute tragedies or surgeries, and only for a short time. Or keeping someone comfortable in the last months of life with Stage IV Cancer. I am almost three years off, but STILL on Subutex (pills, not Suboxone strips, same deal)...to this day! It is HELL coming off those subs, prob never can. NOTHING is worth ruining your life with drugs, and these docs know CRAP about addiction & withdrawal...and that the sickness NEVER GOES AWAY WITHOUT. There was a man at an NA meeting, standing and bending over a walker, shouting out in pain. Despite the pain, he knew he was a drug addict and needed to cope in different ways with his pain.

Cindy-I would love to speak with you on your list of Drs. I too am SOL & am having the hardest time finding a doctor that will prescribe a medication that I have been on for over 10 years. I have made over 30 phone calls to doctors offices and pharmacies & cant find anyone who is registered with TIRF REMS. It's OK, I have sent the admin request to send you my email. Thanks dear!

vhvavrvdvlvevy, idk how far you've read back but its so very helpful in answering your question. Also there is a group support meeting thats every Wednesday that's extremely informative. I highly suggest you get in on that b/c you learn a lot. I was blown away the first one I attended. Since Im not big on support groups. In fat its the only support group Ive ever participated in. Lets face it we're in a new world in PM and these are the most informative best dam group of peeps you'll find. Big hearts, big minds and great listeners. Hope you get connected on Wednesday.

PHEONIX did you make it through w\d...well these next 2 days are w/d fir me. I'm always 2 days short. I think being undermedicated. In Co I had my somas, me Er every 8 hours plus mmj red card. I have been blessed more than lucky I believe. I got back to Tampa Sep 2014 got right into pm so I had some meds. I see a Dr. A Gp Do in Bartow he prescribes everything for me. I've seen posts of ppl dying for a doc n pharmacy in blessed with both. I dislike politics and all politicians, but thank you for kinda breaking down what happened with Obummer care. Well let me know how you are doing

Pheonix and CAKES' I plan to move back to beautiful fresh air Co end of next yr. Waiting on my 17 yr old to graduate? I thought things would b better here for my kids because their family is here n a Person I still call my god-sister told me to come back down here she would help me with whatever, anything that I needed well she did but as soon as I moved out, she has not once ever stopped by so sad it hurts but hey Medicaid pays for my taxi to my GP from Tampa to Bartow. Then my pharmacy is in New Tampa. So I am actually set. I used to think I was because of my dx., not after I read your dx of failed cervical surgery lupus bone pain DAAAMN!! And you were denied care here? I was too dont get me wrong I went to Er room they are mean and a few Dr s denied me but I had history with SUPERIOR Pm so I got into pm quick but like I said they cut my dose dramatically, then I heard about the Dr in Bartow. I checked up on him making sure all was good. He serves as Chief of staff at the local hospital soooo, its just scary but I do have documentation and insurance to go to the former pain clinic, and another pain clinic has cash openings. Tampa has really turned to crap!! Idk where I would go other than CPR when I return to Colorado. I do have Medicare for primary/ Medicaid secondary. So are you in. Co now? I lived in a beautiful condo that was huge in Aurora, now I'm living in a poverty stricken neighborhood and i have to walk n take the bus.. in the heat ! I'm almost 40. I've had a car/ job all my life. I got on SSI in 2012. I have no friends my kids must think I just like to lye around! Period. They are at the age on their life they need to be working (really is no work here and not transportation I haven't got on their asses yet) but its frustrating, but they need to see someone working. Their dad is absent so its just me and my disability. I got put on disability for my herniations degeneration stenosis all that in my lumbar, leg pain depression ptsd and anxiety. Then in 2013 after awful. headaches doc did MRI on my neck and found a benign pituitary cyst, not causing damage but pain in my head!

CO to FL I'd love to say I flew thru w/flying colors but the truth is I'm still in the thick of it. Idk if there's something more here like a bad stomach virus at play but yesterday was by far the most challenging. I had to drive my hubby to his gp yesterday in parker. I was vomiting and worse all day long. Every stop I vomited. Strange thing, hubby had a blood clot that ran the entire length of his leg and went into his lungs. After exactly 6mo of treatment the dr said he didnt need the coumadin any longer. We both noticed the docs entire demeanor had changed that appt. Further he did not see the hemotologist which we both requested along w/another ultrasound. He actually declined to do both. Fortunately, this ran counter intuitive to our instincts. He stayed on the meds and we went o his long term gp. He was shocked given the size of this clot and the short term treatment. He said he wouldnt. Stop taking the coumadin n immediately referred him to a hemotologist for a second opinion. Coincidentally, I just read a column in the newsletter about how breast cancer screenings are not actually saving lives. They refer to some study that was do.e about how females in areas that do not get screenings vs females that do get screenings the findings in death rate was not a significant difference. WTF? Didnt we all here our entire lives about early detection and dont we also know beyond doubt chances are much better if caught in early stages. Sounded to me like the govt laying the groundwork for their justification as to why they do some things and not others. The problem is larger than that. They tied BS to important things like not denying coverage for preexisting conditions...something everyone wants/needs. But it was crafted to where the BS could not be cut without losing other vital pieces. Sneaky. So in order to fix this nightmare we need to scrsp the whole nobamacare bill entirely n start fresh. I pray theres enough ppl on the hill that still have heart, soul, fight and integrity left (I know big prayer) that will over rule this crap and open the healthcare exchange nationwide. Competition amongst healthcare providers is what drives the cost down for any biz and healthcare is big biz, huh? Govt has no place sticking their nose in it. Every country that does that has problems as a result. Why we followed a failed path is beyond me. Back to today, Im doing a bit better after a very large bottle of gatorade and got my little guy to his swim lesson. Filli.g out the paperwork for cpr n plan to dropeverythig off today and get an appt set. High hopes anyway. Also waiting on Cindy's request to come in b/c I'd much rather see a gp than a pain clinic. Ugh Right now I just want a dr that will listen, look at my MRI and work with me accordingly. I had it and miss it so much now. Happy to hear your moving back. Your kids will find work here thats for sure. And the pm side of life will improve for you dramatically so maybe you could work and keep the ssi. Hope everyone is well.
