Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 153)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Very Chatty,
I feel your pain! When my primary doc quit doing pain management, I had a horrible time finding someone who would help me deal with my issues! One doc would refer me to another, I called help lines and they referred me to the er, which they only proceeded to treat me like a drug user, gave me a list of doc's that were no longer practicing and sent me on my merry way!
I do believe what u say about the medications that work on your pain! Pain management is not a perfected science and studies do show that different meds do work on different receptors in the brain, such as stimulants, antidepressants, pain meds and the such! Everyone is also different and medications work differently on the brain receptors! A good doc should look over your history, look at what works and has worked, at least give u a trial of these meds and see how u respond!
I get very discouraged at these doc's that don't really work with the patient and come up with a plan that is good for everyone!
I've been battling paib issues for over 20 years and ran a pain program and unfortunately things have changed due to government regulations and believe me when I say, true pain doc's r as frustrated as we are! Many patients have taken to using illegal drugs and while the agencies report a decrease in prescribed drug usage, what they don't report is what affects this has had on the patients themselves nor the amount of people that have resorted to illegal drug usage and have died of overdosages!
As I and others have encouraged over and over again, have your voice heard! Write your governors, your representatives and even the President! Government shouldn't regulate how doc's practice medicine!
I'm so sorry u r having such issues and if there is something any of us can do to help, please let us know! There r some wonderful people here and do care! Voicing your frustrations and issues are never a bother, we each do it at different times! I live about at a four level of pain each day, many days it's worse and want to scream and yell! We all have our own soapboxes and r good at not just understanding others but try to help! Take good care and if there is something specific we can do, just give a yell, we will try to help!

Because my Pain Dr. was sick, I had to see his Partner today, who I dislike very much, because he keeps pushing me to do more injections. I have had so many injections that not only have I been there and done that 20x over, my joints are now eaten out, and have needed replaced. Why dont the offices call you, and tell you your Dr. is sick, so you can reschedule if you want?
I tried to share with him about the trouble I have been having sleeping, like some of you had suggested. I told him I have been trying some new routines that others have shared without success. He looked me straight in the face and said " I Guess You Just Want Me To Give You More Pills." i cant even tell you how mad, embarrased and hurt I feel. I told him I was hoping he, being a Dr., could offer some suggestions. I am laying in bed now, hurting a 6, unable to sleep, and now I cant stop crying. Can I tell the office I dont ever want to see him, or do I have to deal with him again? Hope everyone is having a Painless night!!! : )

NO!!! U do NOT have to see him again and would report him to his partner! That behavior is not acceptable! I'm so sorry!

Here's a few names, Colorado Rehabilitation, Colorado Pain Management and Dr Rock Navarkal! Colorado Rehab has many offices CPR is probably the quickest to get in!

Janey, thanks for the support. I would never actually order anything. I do wonder what people outside of a city do.
To me 5 on the pain scale is painful but I can still get dressed and do an errand. I've been stuck at 7/8 for a month and no help in sight. I can't even get them to send over referral info to the pain specialist in a timely manner. The good news is I'm not dead and I will survive this too. I'm normally the first to defend doctors, but this time...no es bueno!

I feel for you because my husband and I are in the same boat. He needs two hip replacements, fractured leg, joints gone, more. I have all the things you talked about........Don't ever move to Florida. I lived up North most of my life, or in NM and had a wonderful doctor. Sorry he isn't' in Denver he has seen both of us for over 15 years, but we made the mistake of moving to Florida, not for long though. I wish you luck, it is the G interfering with a Dr.'s diagnosis.
Good luck friend.

Chatty,
YOU are so welcome! I usually stay about a four yet when my husband is in the hospital, yes, it makes extra work but the chairs are so uncomfortable it's pure pain! Unfortunately he's there a ton!!! I just wish I could do something to help U!!!

I have a question for the group also!! Does anyone know of a good oral surgeon or someplace to go to get a full mouth extraction? They broke mine during CPR and they won't change my pacemaker until my mouth is done! Anybody have any ideas?

It's also been quiet!!! Where's everyobe been?

Seriously People. If you don't have an answer to the question, don't respond! No one needs to hear your pain stories. This person is looking for a doctor, not your story. I am needing a doctor just like Mac. I came across this blog thinking maybe someone had some useful information and no, it's just blah blah blah. What a waste of time and hope. This is why blogs are rarely useful.

BeBe, I responded to u a long time ago and it went to the powers that b for "review" as it will many times before posting and saw it posted! It did take a long time to post though! Here r a few name and again, I am sorry for the delay! U can try Dr Rock Navarkal, he's in Cherry Creek, Dr Scott Primack or anyone in their group, Colorado Rehab, Dr Chiacca, he's ib Aurora and has strict guidelines for admission and CPR which is 49th and Kipling, they used to have issues but have been bought out and have an awesome staff now! They r easy to get into once u have the proper documentation and their medical director and PA r extremely well versed in pain managements, alternatives and Suboxone therapy! They were working on getting medicaid approved and not sure where that is now! I like them, it was kinda of a battle for a while with changing ownership and staff but now with really well educated doc's and their pa is out of this world, it's great! Although a hike, it's got pretty easy access from anywhere! Colorado Rehab has multiple offices, u call a central number and they schedule u where is the closest to u! If none of these names work for u let me know and I'll get u more! For any of them, u will need a referral, a recent mri or documentation of one if u don't have the scan, Dr Chiacca actually requires a referral from specific doc's but does a ton of work on interventional medicine modalities! I hope this doesn't take long for it to go through for u! CPR is probably the quickest to get into! Let me know if u need more help and u r right! It's been a ton of chatter, many here r friends also but it has been quiet! They may have gone to a different thread but all involved r true pain management folks, have issues and r very willing to help! Good people! Take care! Many won't share their doc's names because people were dropping where they were going and rushing over to this new doc, overwhelming their doc's office! So many r very protective of their doc's and with good reason! I worked in the field and have resources, so I don't mind giving out info that doesn't involve their private doc's! It's not that they don't want to b helpful! This jumping ship and overwhelming other small offices have happened too often! U need to realize the timing though, it was when no on could get treatment and tons of doc offices were being closed down by the DEA and with good reason! Even folks with a long history of pain issues were being hung out to dry! Things have since settled down, rules in place and now isn't as much of an issue! Ok! Again, I do check this often but many times the answer because of the nature of his this thread is set up, gets buried inside the thread, so u may have to page back several pages! I will also send a note that something is coming from me, so u know we aren't ignoring u!

BeBe, I have sent u info a few times and it went to review! This note is to let u know that many times we have answered u and it gets sent for review then gets buried within emails! The nature of the beast when u r posting on this type of thread! So u may need to sift back a few pages of messages or wait for the response to post! My new one seemed to post immediately so I'm not sure if it did or not! It seems that sometimes mentioning doc's names cues it to review but certainly when u post numbers it cues it to review! So it's not that we r ignoring it, we've typically answered and it pops up back when we wrote it, sometimes not! I assure u though someone and I know I did respond back to u! As I wrote in the other post, many won't give their specific doc's names as back when the DEA was closing many offices down, many people jumped ship from one doc to another, thinking they would get more meds or less of a chance that office would b closed! What it actually did was take many of the smaller doc offices become questionable of why so many people were suddenly breaking their doors down, flagging them as a "problem" office! So to protect their practitioner's they refuse to give their names out and I don't blame them! It made many offices come under suspicion for no reason! I don't mind giving out names or numbers as a pain patient but a practitioner as well, I give out offices that r still taking clients and that I feel r good pain doc's! The time of a private practitioner just writing scripts on a consistent basis for their private pain patients is long gone! Most private doc's when it seems to b a chronic issue send u to a pain doc! So it isn't that folks don't care, they just know that there r people like me that will provide u with names! Like I said, I can provide u with numbers also but it does seem that they r immediately up for review when numbers r used! I hope this helps and do read back through the pages, I'm sure in addition to me, that others also have written to u, they r just buried in the mail! Lastly, it's actually been very quiet since the new DEA rules r out and the pill mills have shut down! Many of us have become friends over the years and we do use this forum to check on one another! We DO care and very much about new people as well as the older folks here! It's a great source for pain issues and lots of well educated people with specifics on how to deal with specific pain issues! Reach out and u may have to repeat due to the above issues but someone will c your post! If u have a specific pain issue such as from RA, MS or the such or accident related issues, whatever your specific issue is from, u typically will find someone who is educated! I again apologize for u thinking no one has answered u and I know at least I wrote and suspect others have also! They either got lost in review or lost from being reviewed and hidden in the pages and pages of us chatting! Though it's an open forum, many have actually met outside of here and the attitude is the more the merrier! So we welcome u as well and if u need further help, write, I will b on the lookout now that I know u need it! Take care!

Bebe having a attitude and being rude like that wont help you either. If you would look down threw this chat thread and this page towards the bottom janeygirl has posted so names already. Also if you read there are alot of conversations going on with different ppl not all the same ppl get the same reply. As far as mac he does have a doctor cuz he got the info from me as well as a few others on here did but how you are commenting is not cool we all have lives all of us have work school families 2 take care of and dont always get a daily chance to look on here. There is alot of useful info uf you have time 2 go back thru some if these pages 2 get the info you need. Yes all of us have stories im sure you do 2 of pain managment but this is more then give me a number now 4 a pain doc we support each other when needed or uf we just need sum1 to talk to. But if you dont like this site then find 1 that is right 4 you s*** even sum of us say we're family on here, just by how close we have become from helping each other

DJ- Very sorry for the delayed response - life has been crazy - my mom.has been preparing to move - at the age of 78! For the first time in 30 yrs and it's been a bit overwhelming . I presently have access to only a mobile device because my laptop is completely down . Apparently pm requests are not availie to molbile users- but perhaps if you have access to a laptop you could request a pm from me and they might let me respond. Very sorry to hear about your repeated prognosis of surgery . Surgery on the joints is very risky and painful- I don't blame you for seeking out a second opinion .

Rainbow, You hit the nail on the head! We have been through so much together and supported one another, while always trying to help! I'm not sure why some posts get reviewed as the one I sent saying that the info maybe reviewed got reviewed and the one with doc's names didn't! We all try our best to help each other, everyone! New and old! I can support and help and I can't control how and when they choose to review! I do have to say thanks for having my back! U know I always try to return those kind of letters except when in the hospital! We are a family! One that never has enough! New folks r always welcome, just as the old! I do have to say, I'm worried we haven't heard from some of the folks who have been here from the beginning! Like Mac and Wendy! I hope both r ok!

Hi, All!! I'm sorry I've been absent and not helpful. I've been getting ready for surgery... And finally had it done today! I had one of my si joints fused... And I'm really hoping and praying that THIS IS IT :)
I'm sorry you guys have had such a rough go lately... It sure seems like it is time for a break for y'all! I sure do worry that we haven't heard from Wendy :(
Going to try to sleep now... Long day. Love and hugs and prayers!

Janey I just need to say you are awesome for continuing to respond time and again for those seeking Dr. info. People need to take in to account, you too are a pain patient and appreciate the fact that you are dealing with your own pain issues, yet time and again you will supply information to new folks who come across this blog. Thanks for taking the time to help us "oldies" who like to check in on each other as well as those polite newbies looking for help!

Cindy, Thank u so much! It's been a tough couple of months, having pneumonia on top of my issues and my husband had another stroke! It's been hard but I never forget feeling so alone, my doc giving up on treating "pain patients" and calling every number the doc gave me for a "pain doc" only to find out that none would prescribe medication and only did intervental medicine, then I came across this thread right after Mac started it! It was a God send to me and I swore, I'd help folks here like it helped me! Now all of u have become like family! The thanks means the world to me! Thank u!
Mountain Girl- I've been worried because we haven't heard from u! I'm glad to hear things r finally moving along and I pray u get relief!
I'm so happy to hear from the "oldies" I was starting to worry about all of u and that's part of the animal with these threads after being on here for years! U get folks getting better or at least in consistent treatment and slowly they don't need us anymore! It's a good feeling yet all r missed!
I hope all is going well for everyone and Rainbow, u r just awesome! Hugs to all of u!
