Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 145)
(Newest replies first)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

No!! What did you hear?? Wow...
I do know dr s said that if a patient won't try alternatives to pain meds, they just aren't willing to do meds only. For example, a person had an opportunity to have a surgery done and wouldn't do
it... And they let him go.

It's wonderful that you have the support of a man who loves you deeply. That must make all the difference in the world for you.
How in the world did you get back down to 135? You gotta share that !!!

True Susie:) I am a very compassionate patient person but I don't like when people dig on others circumstances;(. I agree that when I found out I had these 2 awful illnesses, I felt I lost All control!! Becuz I don't know how I will feel from day to day and there's no cure:( But I am lucky to have my husband who loves me unconditionally! Even when I gained 65lbs from steroids!! I am at normal 135 now but wow:( I feel for each of u! And pray for u! And all pain whether chronic or temporary is a b**** to deal with...

There's a huge difference between "temporary pain" and "chronic pain". A huge difference from a condition that can be "fixed" and one that can't. Just because a condition can be fixed, doesn't make it any less valid than a chronic one. The pain for temporary is as hard for people as the chronic, it hurts just as much.
We chronic people have an additional group of issues that we have to deal with. Our mind set changes with years of pain and what it has done to our lives. The people we were and what we are today. We are always so happy when we have a day that the "old us" seems to peek through.

Answer to Those who asked
Bless you and thank you for caring. I don't have anything physical that's new. Just have that mental thing I was telling about. Last week, my doctor started the Wellbutrin and today, I actually am feeling a little better. I'm at my "not good, but not in bed", which means all I do is post and drive all of you nuts :)
Strange but may be not, my physical problems are so tied up with my mental. If I have a physical issue, the mind goes. Have a mental issue than the body goes LOL

I feel for you when it comes to coping with your Mom duties. It must be very hard to deal with the needs of your children, and still find what it takes to enjoy being with them. Pain is such a horrible creature. I was saying that (crazy as it sounds), I think pain is a separate monster, not a part of me.
It must be a challenge for you to fight that monster, and still have it within you to have a "normal" life as much as you can.

RA and Lupus, What a combination !! Do you go to a Lupus support group? Some people say they are very helpful.

Don't chase ole jetmech away. It's probably good that he read what the "real truth" is. I think he's sort of new to the "pain game" and it's having a very difficult time adjusting to the fact that he is not "in control". It's a hard process for some people to realize that their own body is what betrayed them. I think the lack of compassion in some of the remarks, is that he truly doesn't have the long term concept yet. He's also in the learning curve of being able to separate the abusers from the "real" pain people.

Jet mech,
U NEED to get off this forum!! U r a truly awful human being that has nothing better to do than put People down and judge them!! I haven't been on here in a long time but Mtn girl knows who I am!
I suffer from RA, And Lupus. I am only 39 years and have had both hips replaced because of my diseases!!
I never knew chronic pain until I got deathly sick 3 years ago and from then on, my whole world has turned upside down!!
Although it is true that there r many seekers out there, I can attest to chronic pain and how real this is!! My illness has affected how I can or cannot be a mom to my 15 and 10 year old children!! And I have had to quit my professional management job also!!
It is NOT your place or anyone's to judge or put down others:(. How sad that u find pleasure in this!!! I have been reading this forum for months and these people have been nothing BUT helpful and uplifting to each other!! If I wanna hate on people, find another site!!
Sorry peeps, I can't stand it when ignorant people open their mouths and presume to know each and everyone on this earth!! And that they presume to know what another person should do! I hope u are all well! And r having a blessed holiday!!
Hello Mtn Girl!

What you said to munchkin about addiction to pain medications is true. Most pain medication is in it's very nature addictive. I am not a "drug addict". I am "drug dependent". The same as my husband who has diabetes is "drug dependent".
Because of the illegal drug use, the negative surrounding my medication has a great impact on my life. Due to public opinion about "pain killers" and people who take them, it is very important that the separation between "addiction" and "dependency" be very clear.
Honestly, there isn't much difference in what being addicted or being dependent does to your body and mind. I appreciate that you would rather "fix" it and not have to be dependent on a pain medication, in order for you to function. This is the 15th year of being ill for me, and I didn't start pain medication until about four years ago, because of the simple fact, I don't like to be dependent on anyone or anything, other than myself. Along with our medication, many of us use TENS, physical therapy, heat, ice, etc. etc. etc. No one outside of the "pain world" is interested in those methods, the interest is focused on our medication.
Many of us who have been taking pain medication for any length of time, are very sensitive because of the negative we have been subjected to. Because we are dependent, whenever there is a problem, the anxiety goes sky high immediately. I'm sure my husband would experience sky high anxiety also, if his diabetes medication was being threatened on a continuing basis. He can't function without his medication (easily fatal). I can't function without my medication (wish it was fatal).

Rainbow,
That's exactly what I was talking about. You can't work yourself to death. You already have health issues, medical care issues, medication issues. You need to be kind to you, cause life sure isn't being kind lately :)
MtnGrl,
You trying to "prank" us? Did you take all the bubble wrap and hide it? :) Veggies and fruit. You are so right!! My whole system works so much better. Had to give up my green veggies while dealing with the blood clot, which the news this week, it's better. The actual clot is gone but have lots of scar tissue.

You are so right about the FDA and other agencies already having their opinion about "chronic pain". It's so apparent in how legislature is suppose to address the "junkies' but affects the lawful pain patient. They have lumped us with the "junkies" You are so right, we don't need to add to the problem by pointing fingers too. They already have that done, without our help.

Everyone
Jetmech already had a go round with others. I did notice that he had some good news in there. He can be fixed, which we should celebrate for him.
It is different for those of us who can "get fixed". "Getting fixed" for others of us, is just a fix on a symptom we are having, not a real fix, which is totally different. Living with the knowledge of "no hope" and only treating symptoms, is a world of it's own. If your condition is "fixable" or not, it doesn't matter, it's still a valid issue and your feelings about it are valid.
We have to remember that opinions are like "blank" holes, everyone has one. The whole point is being able to voice yours without being attacked. Sometimes we even gain a little knowledge.

Jetmech
You need to apologize for that remark about convenience store employment. There is no shame in any "honest" employment. You should also be thankful that not everyone has had the training for jet engine repair. It wouldn't pay as well if more people were trained.

Smalls,
There is no shame in having money. I don't think that having money is what rubs you the wrong way. I think it's when you feel that someone doesn't show compassion for the rest of us, you get angry. You feel like you need to protect us.

It 8 obvious that you suffer from jealousy as much as pain. You aren't smart enough to know anything about a BMW club....they are older cars owned by enthusiasts. The club part is a way to network and find knowledge and parts and the occasional meetup.....no different than a Chevy Chevelle or Ford Mustang club.
And bringing up my career?..... must suck for you to be stuck in a job at the convenience store, I guess you should have stayed in school.

Wendy! Are you better at all!?
Susie! Where's my bubble wrap?

For everyone... I would like to challenge each and every one of us to get more fruits and vegetables in our body this month. I am horrible about getting the right kind of foods or juices in my body, but I feel so much better when I do! Even if all you can do is get one bottle of organic 100% juice a week, let's try it! It's not a cure, but it will help our bodies heal a bit.
Sending love!
