Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 13)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Sorry bout that. Good luck... Lemme know how it goes.

Oh JetTech, there are lots of us who just have bad luck. And there are most certainly some people in here that have a drug problem and probably don't even realize it. I've personally made a couple of stupid mistakes, but my issue has been 2 main things: 1. My insurance randomly stopped covering my doctor and I can't afford the up front cost of $290-$500 for one of the understanding doctors. 2. You make one or two mistakes (miscommunication on one, and the other wasn't even me but docs don't believe you) and a doctor will discharge you. Worse than that, these piece of s*** doctors I've seen lately think despite my HIPPA preferences, that it's okay to call my new doctors and tell them they think I have lied or am a drug seeker or whatever. So it's like they work together to keep someone from getting help the first time something goes wrong.
Someone filled a script under my name from a doctor I've never seen, for a medication I've never taken on april 7th. There is a video of her doing this, and about 29 other prescriptions they were able to prove she filled under other people's names from a pad she stole from a doctor she worked for. The police are great and have my back but doctors don't give a s***, they see an extra script on your PDMP and treat you like a drug addict. It's unreal. Plus, you are on a much lower dose than a lot of us I am sure. You take 5-10mg vicodin each day, I'm on 6-20mg oxycodone per day. Big difference.

Great, I will be there Monday am as well.Let me know how it goes. The other factor I appreciate is only having to go every other month.
Jetmech,
Consider yourself very blessed, I have MS, multiple broken bones from skiing, I was fine until my neuro closed his practice, family docs up here don't do pain management at all unless ortho injury then they over prescribe for that first month, after that on yr own, remember u are only 1 of 2 pain patients that yr doc handles, the others, they wont, I pray yr doc doesn't retire, move to another practice etc as then you will be like the rest of us, Dr Lincoln is very good but won't go over certain dosage which is good, also only random ua , I am in yr situation as well as my employer and licence require I follow federal law, I have been on same dosage for 10 years now, usually have extra left over at end of month, take only when needed, never ask for extra, never stolen, keep meds locked up etc etc and the docs still won't do it bc they don't want the hassle of the dea and state agencies, I finally figured I would pay out of pocket for pain relief, the price of coffee each day to be happy, active and pain free!
I just find things here to be odd.... I moved here in 2014. I had a double knee replacement in 2012, one of them failed and I want to lose a bunch of weight before getting a 3rd knee replacement. I had zero problem finding a PCP that would continue me on my current pain management program. I was on Medicaid, he verified my condition, and sent me on my way with my Vicodin. I soon found a job in my field, and had to change doctors. Again.....no issue. About a year and a half later.......some junkie in Parker.....where I live......got in a shootout with cops and all the Drs in the area stopped most pain management. Mine told me that due to my job, and how responsible I am with my meds.....I would remain as one of their 2 pain management patients. Fast fwd a year, and yesterday, we discussed that the dosage i have been on for 2 years isnt as effective anymore. My doc upped my dose to 10mg, 5 times a day.......gave me 3 written prescriptions, one current, 2 for July and Aug and sent me on my way.
I have showed my doc many posts on this thread......and they haven't heard of any of them. I never have to do U/A's, because I have them so often at work. I never have issues with getting my meds, and my doc says if I want to consume marijuana.....they don't care since it is legal here. I don't do it only because my job as an aircraft mechanic is federally regulated, so the drug panels go by fed law..... Why do so many people in this group, have such a hard time finding a decent family doc that will handle your needs?
Thanks! I have an appointment Monday morning. It is VERY expensive, but I'm at my wits end and am tired of still being in pain and/or feeling bad all of the time. I'm really hoping that he can help me. I like being able to just contact him directly by cell at any time. That means something to me.
I recommend Dex,,
call him directly and ask your questions as tbe initial visit isis quite high. I'm going on 2 years and very content. Lemme know how it goes! Godspeed
I think I'm going to try switching from Lincoln to Dex, to see if I can get better relief.
It's been the general problem all over the country, with very sick people who no longer have a doctor to treat their pain. A Corporation in TN purchased several offices in CO and shut off the meds with absolutely no warning and many people were very sick. Hopefully all those people have found a clinic or a doctor since March when this happened. It's funny how it's never in the news that people are being treated this way.
Hi Co. SUSIE, it's been awhile. Also hello to Rainbowflowers!! This thread got kinda crazy, we had a stranger, a mom who says her son is an addict and selling his meds and she was going to blast on CPR, I don't go there, but we were all accused of not Really needing the meds. Seems the thread died. Also we have all given our Dr's info and newbies need to read back, there are legit Pm Dr's. Anyway hopefully we can get the thread going, and help one another again.
I got covered took a few visits but I found a practicing doctor that was willing to take me on as a long term patient.
Just wanted to tell everyone Hi and hope you are all doing well.

Is there a reason you have not gone to CPR? They could and would help you if you had all your records

I am very sorry that you are having such difficulties. The very last paragraph of your statement is a huge red flag. Liver Damage!
Most, if not all pain clinics are going to say they can not help you due to this fact. They are not going to accept liability for liver damage. This may be the real reason your PCP said they would no longer treat you. Did they cut you off right after your blood work came back? If so, definitely a red flag.
I have really been thinking about going to see Dr. Dex. I am currently taking methadone 90mg a day. It truly saved my life and I am able to work a normal shift without bending over in pain. Do you know if Dr. Dex prescribes Methadone in this amount? I am not sure what is even a high or low amount. Thank for your response! Happy to join the group
I feel your pain, similar situation here in NY, I have L5S1 herniation, and neuropathic/generalized pain due to Multiple Sclerosis (25 years), I'll take the pain over being in a wheelchair, not able to walk. THANK GOD, my neurologist is willing to treat my pain, and is not afraid like most doctors are to Rx opiates. He told me pain is quite common with demyelinating diseases such as MS, but many doctors tend to ignore these symptoms, or not treat them properly, which can be quite debilitating. The Lyricas and Gabapentins did not work at all for me. He pretty much stated I am a model patient, as I try and take drug "holidays", set max limits, not matter how bad my pain is, and NEVER EVER EVER EVER take more than prescribed, which is what leads to that nasty dark road for which there is no U turn. If you ever get "Oh, what harm will taking one extra pill do ?" or "I'll wash this down with a beer or two" then flush them down the toilet, you will be a statistic. The one extra pill turns into 2 extra pills, then 3, then 4 then... your monthly script is finished in a week, and you are seeking more pills on the street, or a rogue doctor. If this is you, flush them, and take an Advil.
Dr. Dex is in thornton.
To all you newbies: read back thru the posts and you can acquire names and numbers, Unfortunately you have to put the work in...Good Luck1
