Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 128)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Are you trying to copy my life of 30 years ago LOL. False death report, still all these years later, I can't figure out the "why" of that one. My sister, OMG, needless explaining, that didn't work out !!! Animals. Oh how I love them and oh how I've suffered with them :)
All the junk in my life back then, may be the "why" of my illness now LOL

We have all the normal stuff now, like pre mature grandbabies, bed rest pregnancy, family with Huntington's, heart trouble, blood pressure and other problems, falls while in the nursing home. Pets that die with cancer, providing a home for other people's dogs. Our own health problems. People laid off at work. All the low stress stuff LOL I think that people are of the opinion that I make this stuff up LOL

Oh my goodness ladies!!! Everyone needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap and chocolate!! :)
Susie... I took Wellbutrin in the past. It worked well for me... Good place to start ... And if it doesn't work, there are others. Please stay away from Prozac. Zoloft helped me in recent years.
Take care, y'all!!

Oh Wendy, I'm so sorry! I've too been having some issues and I have to say I'm shocked at the horrible care u get provided anymore without either having someone with u or causing a fuss yourself! I had my port placed for my teeth that were broken during CPR 5 years ago! It's impossible to find a dentist that has hospital privileges to do the extractions and I wasn't allowed to have my pacer replaced without them being done because of infection! U would think being a health care practitioner u would think u could figure out what to do but that isn't the case anymore! The doc actually told me my medical issues "sounded like a bad western song"!! My scripts because I had to go in emergently I missed my appointment at CPR! They had to b rewritten three times and still weren't right! I don't know about u guys but anymore not only is pain issues difficult because of the meds but also difficult because they automatically think u r in for wanting meds and not because u have a raging infection, a bp of 200/100 and a fever, it's because u want meds! It's taken me years to get these teeth worked on, the pacer wasn't as big of an issue since they cut my wires during my arrest too short and it has to b replaced every five years anyway but this mouth issue, it's like they think I did meth or something! I can't help it I don't have enamel because of the Asian flu when I was a baby and then they broke them during CPR! It's especially frustrating because the arrest was due to a nurse throwing away an ekg that showed a congenital abnormality so the doc's didn't realize when they put me in the cat scan that is arrest! Trying to talk sense to anyone who doesn't know u is impossible! It makes me thank God for CPR and their staff all the more! Believe it or not, we r really blessed to have them, they r really compassionate, caring and yes, we all get frustrated time to time but believe me, we r lucky! Wendy, push all u need to! I had been scheduled for my oral surgery, had it canceled the day before and it's been hell since then! I finally took another professional's advice, went to the er, let them c how sick I've become because of it, got a case manager assigned and finally am getting the help I needed month's ago! It makes me sad how bad our medical system has gotten and it isn't just this DEA stuff, as u know this started years ago when hospitals and medical care became for profit! Someday, we will have to share the history of why we r where we r! If u need some help with thoughts on how to get treatment and brainstorm, write me, I'll help however I can!

Wendy I hope you are in the hospital right now getting the help you need.
Susie you will probably see a change in about 3 weeks with Wellbutrin and be feeling great in 6-8! Don't give up and find out the cause of that swelling, a water pill may be needed.
We did another cancer treatment on Snowball and he literally has craters on the top of his head, his skin is just sluffing off leaving holes in his head. This will be his last treatment as I cannot put him through this again, he's doing well, we are not watching this all happen, I just pray the medicine actually works. This whole situation is making me so sad, I'm only popping in here every few days.
If I don't make it back here I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

JaneyGirl
I'm so glad to hear you say about your teeth and the flu as a baby. I've had trouble ever since I got baby teeth, because of high fevers destroying my teeth before I ever even got them. I flossed, brushed, etc etc and no difference. Finally got the extractions finished about 5 years ago. I am so thankful. Just years and years of miserable tooth aches, infection, etc etc.
I was glad to hear you say it, not glad that you have the problem LOL

Wendy
They are right. Don't let the ER blow you off. Hang in there and make them listen.

Cindy
We did the chemo thing with Yancy (she was just at five years old). I'm glad I did it with her, but I don't know if I would do that again with another dog. I guess if I get another one with cancer, I'll have to make the call then. It was very hard. The whole situation.

Wendy, please be safe. You or the Mr. Please keep one of us posted on you so that person can keep us posted. My good energy is being sent your way. Xoxo

Sometimes I have to be reminded to let it out. Thank you ladies so much. Just typing it all felt like I could breath. I'm much better at asking for help with everything than 5 years ago. I went from healthiest, happiest, highest on life in my entire life to unable to dress or clean myself in 36 hours. I was the ultimate independent child... my favorite word was bastard and I used it as an encouraging term. Nothing, not soap, spanking, explanation of the definition stopped me from saying it. So letting go, grieving for what I lost, and adjusting my thinking on what is weak took some serious work. Not to mention that "go to" position, for me, allowed for my control freak side to be too comfortable as a way to be. It helps to have people who get that pain, illness, disease, and all that fun stuff is soul changing & in unexpected ways. You don't know, you don't know what you don't know. lol

I figure that life has to quiet down soon, if not I'm still gong to my best friend's in January for at least 2 weeks. Between the climate and the joy we share in being weird brain sharing twins I'm sure that 2015 will be better than 2014. I could go on for days about family stuff and dog stuff. Another time when my fingers and toes don't look like those local weird hot dogs from Albuquerque. Pink plump and angry looking. So my bed rest has me, crocheting a lot (any requests? Anyone interested in a scarf, cowl, shawl, wrap, poncho, or dishcloths?) and abusing my phone by working it triple time. I should be getting my new laptop Monday (thank potatoes for the note 3 big display and nearly identical laptop web and programs) so checking in and replying will return to normal.

Tom thank you for the update all my prayers to Wendy. I wish you were able to keep her in the hospital and let them deal with getting the needed shunt. They can work thru the Medicaid bureaucracy a lot faster than you can on your own.

Thanks Guys! Wendy, they r right! Request to c the nurse manager or patient advocate! My husband was in a few weeks ago, they had in a hallway bed! He fell getting into bed, one nurse said, "he's more than capable of getting himself up and he isn't WORTH hurting your back over"! Now multiple nurses were within feet of us! He proceeded to have a seizure! I asked four nurses to help! The last one finally helped me so he didn't fall out of bed! The doc came over the last nurse, who was very kind was reporting to the doc that he started seizing about a minute ago! I quickly told them NO!!! He's been seizing for well over 6-7 minutes and that I had asked for help from (pointing to the nurses) this nurse, this nurse, this nurse and finally this nurse helped me! They quickly put him in a room where he continued to seize, some so violent it took six of us to hold him in the bed! The doc asked for him to b stripped down to examine him! He was there about four hours! He never during this time regained consciousness, never post-ictal! Just did these strange repetitive spastic movements! About four hours later he awoke! Confused and such! The doc came in, gave me reports of the testing, not any indication of this but within minutes a nurse came in and discharged him! With instructions to c a neurologist! The doc never examined him! Nothing!

The next day, he was worse, took him to the same hospital! The triage nurse said "u were just here last night, all your testing was negative, exactly what do u expect us to do for u?" I walked him out, put him in the car, went to a different hospital and they were awesome! Besides the seizures, he had poor to no vision in his left eye! He had a TIA and a retinal hemorrhage with a retinal tear, had a eye md see him within hours! They couldn't believe they had discharged him with a Bp of 209/112! He spent a week at the hospital! I wrote the CEO of the hospital but haven't heard back! This is the same hospital that five years ago the nurse threw away my ekg's that showed my prolonged qt wave syndrome, the number one reason for folks over 40 to die of when they don't know why they died! Had the doc seen it, I could have skipped 23 minutes of CPR and pacemaker and could have been treated medically! After I was discharged I received a phone call from the hospital saying they wanted to settle with me since the ekg's was misplaced, they sent me to cat scan without a nurse and didn't have a monitor in the er or portable that worked as well as a potassium of less than two! The staff was pissed they had to do my exam because they just got their food from Arby's! An aide asked if I needed help to get on the table and the staff person told her that I didn't need any help! I remember rudely being told to hold my arm up for the exam and that's the last I remember! I fixed them! Sometime while in the scanner I arrested! They aren't sure how long I was down but from when they pulled me out until the code was ended was 23 minutes! I was put in a coma and hypothermia and lots of rehab, I'm doing ok still memory issues but compared to what it could have been, a blessing! I kept getting calls about settling with me! A few days before my statues of limitations was to b over, I got a call from their insurance folks who said that there wasn't enough documentation for a case!

This was after the ceo had already approved a number with me! Within the last year I found out that the documentation wasn't there because they had multiple charts on me because I got married! Pretty funny when your patient is is your ssn! Just was an easy way to get out of paying me! My health insurance went from about two hundred a month to $1300! I won't step inside that place again! The er nurses r the worst group I've ever seen! U r lucky if u get an outside float pool nurse as they do have brains! But because of my pacer, my teeth extractions have to b done in a hospital setting! No dentists have hospital privileges! It's taken me this long to get this set up only to have the doc quit! It's been a nightmare! Five years of infected teeth, pain and all because they couldn't intubate me during my arrest! U would think they would at least pay to fix what they broke! Hopefully, we r finally on the right road, got my port in, got a call from the hospital. My cultures came back, infected, so I have to c the doc tomorrow or Tuesday to schedule the surgery! Then the final step of replacing my pacer, they have to b replaced every five years! All this to "get well"? Funniest thing is since starting at CPR I've felt the best I've felt since my initial injury from a chiropractor 22 years ago! Bottom line Wendy! U r far too important! Call the hospital get in touch with a manager, patient advocate, case manager, head doc of that area or ceo if needed! Don't stop until YOU feel u have gotten what u need! These hospitals r like urgent care anymore, scream, kick, carry on until u get the answers u need! If u need help, as u know, I am a health care practioner, I'll help u with anything u need and can get u to where u need! I'll help anyway u need! I have a big mouth and know how to use it! Take care my friend, I'm here for u or anyone else who needs help! Not sure why things r going through so slow but I do check here at least once a day!
