Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 10)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Just as my previous posts about him and CPR. They are taking your $$ still but Dr. m is in deep s*** with the DEA so instead of wasting your $ and getting 5's, find a legit dr like I see. Wish I could give his name to those of you who truly need help but I can't on a public forum. He's a great dr, but I can't refer people who were going to CPR or Dr. may because he wrote to anyone so I don't know if the people on here are legit or just seekers. I don't want my dr to be filled with seekers because everyone I personally know that went to those places had no legit reasons to even be in a pain clinic and he knew that when he was writing them, hence why he's in deep trouble. Check providers through your insurance and not these pay here places. That's the first sign that they are pill mills and won't be around long. If a dr isn't listed with insurance companies like CPR then they are pill mills and will get shut down. You may have to go through a few drs under your provider list but you'll find the right one for your needs if you have your MRI's and can prove your conditions you'll have no problems! There are legit dr's out there who write what you need!

Dr. May wasn't prescribing to just anyone, you have to have the same things as any other pain mangement he is legit and any dr can get fooled by a seeker. But I guess I will just go to his other practice that he has if cpr gets shut down cause he is a really good and caring doctor which is hard to come by most especially in colorado just want to give you weed which is stupid and just as dangerous. Rather be on a sugar pill thank you. Why would they even show you a list you have no ties with the dea and not a health care provider? Something doesn't sound right.

I'm a patient of CPR and they are following all the guidelines asked by the DEA!!! I don't know why they would be getting shut down. They require diagnostics, drug tests every month, and they only write 3 breakthru meds a day. I'm a severe chronic pain patient and I go to Dr. May. I'm the person who started this posting. Skinnyminny is there any way you can help me out. We can even talk over email so it's not on here. I am 100% legit and I can't just stop taking the meds I'm on.

I would really appreciate it! Moving from texas to colorado has made it worse considering that the altitude has increased the pain a ton. I had an excellent pain dr back home that really understood and helped me, and gave me the pain meds that I truly need. Someone please help so I can get back to work and enjoying life again! Thanks

My only issue is a mri doesn't show my issue for pain, I had a botch surgery and have chronic pain from that but have tons of medical records to back my chronic pain so would that be a problem with the doctor you have skinnyminny? I didn't think anything bad about dr. May I thought he was doing things by the book? There is form to fill out to get people's email but if you would please let me know who you see that would be great, your dr takes insurance right? Let me know if you will be willing to help me and I will fill the form out so we can talk private. Thanks

I started going to CPM because I needed a new pain doc & there is a long wait at the ones I have called. CPM requested all my previous doctor records, MRI scans & wouldn't see me without them. I went there because they fit me in there schedule. It seems like they are on the up & up, they would only give me an ER pain med & 2
breakthrough meds. Same as my previous doc that is very reputible dr. Just find it strange as does Tammy, that they would show u that kind of info? At first u said it was your friend that was shown this info then in the next post u said it was u that saw it? Not calling anyone a liar I just want to know what's going on with CPR because I've had 2 faild spinal fusions & can't function without my meds, especially my ER med. Any info would be awesome! We can talk privately if so. Thanks

CPR isn't being shut down. They are following ALL the regulations set forth by the DEA. That's why they started discharging people only willing to get oxycodone and no long acting meds, they give drug tests, they don't see you without imaging diagnostics, and I even talked to Dr May and he said the whole reason they are having to write higher XR meds and less breakthrough for chronic pain patients is because the DEA gave them regulations to follow and if they don't follow them they would get shut down. They are not being shut down. They are following the DEA's guidelines and won't just be shut down because some seekers came in. And I find it weird that your "friend" would be shown DEA lists and then you say you saw it. The DEA isn't going to let all the doctors know who they're shutting down, and the doctor sure isn't going to share federal information with a patient who has NO ties to medicine, the government, or any other entity that would have this info. Tammy I would call them and ask like I did. Amanda told me they aren't going anywhere. They were recently given these guidelines by the DEA and they are following them. I have an appt on the 18th. So we'll see if they're shut down. If they are I definitely will need a new doctor and I would really appreciate if Skinny would share that info through email. I have 6 separate back problems all documented.

I agree totally with what u said. I just had an appt & also asked about these accusations & was told the same thing u were Mac. They are cutting all the bad patients so they will still be around to treat those of us that are really legit & needing their help. If I hear anything different I will let everyone know. Till then, take care!!

That's what's up RGIII ONE!!!!!! It's good to hear that from someone else. I just don't see a doctor showing a patient a DEA form that I doubt is even given to doctors in the first place, let alone letting their patients see it. There are SO many laws of privacy protection that I just can't see a doctor having a list from the DEA about other doctors, and I DEFINITELY can't see the doctor freely showing it to everyone. Plus all the people who asked haven't received a response about this supposed letter that her friend saw first, but then she herself saw it!!! But I'm not worried. I am still a patient there and Dr. May told me exactly what is going on. Plus the comment makes no sense anyway. First she "knew" CPR is closing so she went to a new doctor, and then saw a DEA list with Dr. May's name. Makes no sense....

I got it.....it was an April fools joke! Maybe????? But will put my money on a fired patient or one that left because they didn't get what they wanted.

I think the exact same Mac686 & Tammy. Someone got called out on their visit & didn't like the outcome! Those DEA papers are confidential, not easy to get ahold of like a newspaper! Like I said, Dr. May has been totally by the book every time I've been. Also a reali great & understanding doctor that actually listens to your problem & actually does something to help you reduce your pain!! There is nothing we can do about the situation anyways. They seem to be on top of what they need to be doing.I just hope if there are still more seekers coming in the office they catch them all & send them on their way!! I'm glad to be a patient of Dr.May & am not going anywhere & I doubt the doctor is either!! So tired of suffering because of people that take advantage of the system & the true chronic pain patients suffer!! Sori bout the essay. Good luck & take care all u legit pain sufferers!!!@

Hey Mac I think it's great you are hear to help the ones who truly need it. I was thinking of making an appt. at CPS and just don't want to through my $ away. Iv been taking 4 30 mg oxy with 2 60mg ms cotton a day. But I need a new doc. If u can get back to me soon will be great. Thanx a bunch for your help.

If u have legit diagnostics I couldn't see that being a problem. they might do 2 of the 100mg ms contin and drop you to 3 oc tho. But idk. If you have real problems and can prove it you won't waste your money. But they're more strict now so you will absolutely need diagnostics.

I have records from my old doc w MRI. Iv been on Paim manigmint for 4 years. I went to a new doc and he gave me injections witch really helped. Last month he lowerd me to 15z Becouse he don't like writing narcos. Witch is cool with me even if I have to take more of the ms cotton and less oxy. As long as my pain is under control. I just don't want to go back to him Becouse he wants to take me off of all narcos. That would be great but I sufferd last month w the 15z. I have a wife m 4 kids. My kids are verry active in sports and I can't really be active w them with out my meds. They play football baseball n wrestling. This last month was hard to do anything just taking the 15z

I say give it a shot. You can still get injections from other docs if they help. But that's how I felt with my methadone and oc. I don't mind having my breakthru meds lowered as long as my XR is increased and my pain is managed. And really XRs are the ONLY way to go with chronic pain.

What do you think Mac? How should I go about my appt? What should I say? I just want to be back on track and get my pain under controll so I can keep coaching my kids and do what I normally do. You been a big help and I really am thankfull for all your help and advice. Thanx a bunch. Get back to me when u get a chance. Please n thank u.

Honestly of you go in and have your diagnostics and say basically what you said to me, that you went to a doctor who only wanted injections and to take you off the only thing that helps. You want to get back to living a normal life with your kids and that you're willing to work with them to get your pain under control and you will so other things such as physical therapy and stuff like that. But i can't tell you exactly what to say man I'm not you. Say your situation that you're in. And no problem with all the help. I know how hard it is when you are given the shaft.
