Do not use this place! My husband has Chronic back pain and they refused to see him last week because he owed them $1,700 and would not allow him to make payments. These bills occurred all the way from 2008. We never received a bill or nothing. Just all of a sudden we supposedly owed this money.

No TN Valley pain clinic will not help, nor do they care. I been goin to a regular physician for a yr & a half who was prescribing me my pain meds, I built up a tolerance to the mg & he wasn't able to go higher so he referred me to TVPM, first visit went ok other than dr said he was not going to go any higher in mg's than what I was already on, so right off I felt it was a wasted trip, I absolutely loved the dr I had been goin to & would nvr have left him had I known this, then a family member who does not live with us but has a key for emergencys & a friend of his came to get something of the family members while my husband & i was gone, needless to say the remander of my pills got gone. I called Tvpm immediately, well I was upset about my meds being stole but more worried bout withdrawals. Nurse said if that happens go to ER, they were not goin to replace my meds &; I understand that, nxt day withdrawals didnt happen but I been in pain all the day before then that day, I couldn't take it anymore so I go to ER LIKE I WAS TOLD, I explain to ER dr, told they dont replace stolenmeds, I didnt ask for that, he gives me 1 pain pill, that last bout 2 hrs, back in pain, I suffered thru the night then go to ER nxt morning. Got different ER dr, explained again & told him too that my pain mgt dr told me to go to ER, so this one says hes not giving me a narcotic, he gives me something for nausea which im not nauseous, then he gives me a bp pill that suppose to help w/withdrawals, im not withdrawing at this point, im hurting, he writes me script for those 2 medicines, I get em filled knowing its a waste but gonna do it. I called tvpm, told em whats all happpened, still not gonna give me any pain meds just go back to ER, later that night withdrawals set in.. its excruciating as, anyone whos been thru em knows, its worse than the pain that ur on pain meds for. So my husband says lets go to ER, they are goin to do something to help u, what they been doin is wasting ur time, not helpin u at all but billing ur ins out the butt. So we are telling em to do something & quit writing stuff thats not doin anything, get there & I get the first ER dr that i seen. He was goin to give me a shot of a pain reliever, then a script for my reg pain meds, even tho hes been a butt both times I seen him at least he was doin something right this time, next thing I know he comes back in with an attitude sayin he pulled my chart & seen all the times I have been there & accused me of seeking narcotics, I had been there before about 3 different x over an abcess tooth, 3 to be exact, from march to july, the free dental clinic has been closed since April for remodeling. I went to a dentist in April, $2000.00 to pull 3 teeth, that aint happeningx so yes I go to ER if it gets abcessed till the free clinic opens. So when dr says im seeking opiates I tell him, yet again that my pain mgt dr told me to go to ER for pain and/or withdrawals, this dr calls me a liar, flat out im lying, says Dr Gant would never have told me that, I said bull crap, call his office, he refuses to call, so I did, got a nurse, she confirms it says for ER dr to call them, told her he refuses to, hes sitting right there but refuses to get my phone & ask & refuses to go call em himself. Probably bc he had made such a fussbbout callin me a liarl that he didnt want to be embarrassed to know he was wrong, so I hang up with the nurse but not before she expressed to me that she could not believe this dr was treating me this way, he left the room, came back & said he was putting me on the red flag list as narcotic seeking behavior. At this point I didn't care bc for all I knew my dr at tvpm was goin to be made aware of his behavior by his nurse that I was on the phone with that couldn't believe I was gettin treated this way, he also said he wasn't goin to tell dr Gant tho. . As my husband & I are walkin out the ER the nurse whispers for us to go to crestwood, says they are not affiliated with Huntsville hospital so they will not see that this ER dr has red flagged me & I will get treated, so we go,, its 11pm by now, get there, 4:ppl in lobby, took em over an hr to get me back in a room then at 4:30 I still haven't been seen, my husband is livid,, im layin back there in excruciating pain & offered nothing, finally ER dr comes, is goin to get me a pain pill & write me a script for some, she leaves, comes back & informs me I been red flagged. I explain the situation, shes not the least bit concerned with the facts, so we leave no better off than when we got there, other patients were expressing their opinions about the sorry service too. Nxt day I call tvpm to inform of the stupid medicines I had received& the prescriptions. Couple hrs later I get a call from a guy from dr Gants office, hes not goin to see me anymore. I said WHY? I did everything I was supposed to do. His office told me to go to ER, I did, I reported, all meds given to me, but nothin to it they cancel my appt, said to find me a another dr.also said that the ER dr told Dr Gant that I said that Dr Gant & I have a verbal agreement that I can go anywhere & get opiots. That is a flat out lie, I said I was verbally told to go to ER if im in pain & for withdrawals. The guy says well Dr Gant is gonna believe the dr over u.. I was furious, first of all how ridiculous does what he said I said sound, how would anybody believe a dr had told a patient that its ok to go opiates from anybody, that even sounds ridiculous to me, I would have nvr said that. But I ended up havin to go to my original dr who couldn't believe I was treated this way too, hes been seeing me over a yr & knew the type of person I was. I was doin what I was told to do & I got punished. I was honest about everything everytime I went to ER, but I still got screwed, im a firm believer in Karma & God takin care of those that wrong u so that dr is in for a rude awakening. But my original dr got me fixed up
So no thanks to TVPM & Dr Gant, but a big Thanks to my original dr who has compassionfor his patients., im back to my old self & out of pain.

I am 24 years old. While I was pregnant with my oldest I threw my back out helping my grandmother back into her bed when she fell one night, after I had my son I was diagnosed by MRIs with 2 buldging/herniated discs, dengenerative disc disease, sciatica, and rheumatoid arthritis. Since then I have buldged another disc and one of the original injured discs have began to, in a nutshell, crumble. I have been seeing the same doctor I was seeing at 16, for migrane prevention. For the past 5 years I have taken 2-3 Norco 7.5s daily, 90 350mg somas/month, & 60 .25 mg xanax/month. My doctor was investigated after Aggarwal and although he was not shut down, he still would not increase my dosage after my new documented injuries, despite telling me i do need surgery, but after we have talked he decided it is not feasible for my lifestyle, I am the sole provider/caregiver for 3 small children, & with the dangers that come with the surgery I need, the risks outweigh the benefits. He was out of town about 6 months ago and I had to see another dr in his office, who treated my grandmother and knew my case very well. He did increase my dosage to 75 norco 10s a month, all of my other medication has remained the same other than the tramadol he added to my regiment and an increase in my mobic to treat my arthritis. My issue is that my pain medication is still not doing its job, now I am not out here trying to find this extremely strong pain medication that everyone else seems to get, but the only thing that has helped my back in years are the percocet 10s I recieved after my c sections. I don't have insurance at the moment and I need to find a doctor thatI don't have to drive 2 hours to see and that will actually help me. All I want is to be able to function normally again. I have all the documentation I need to get that strong crap, but I don't want that... i want reasonable management. Can anyone please help me!!! I live in the Huntsville, AL area.

I used to go to tn valley PC. They would only give me 3 10mg tabs/day, unless I had surgery to sever the main nerve to my leg(gunshot wound to tibia very painful it went through the bone and broke it) I told them if I had the surgery then they would claim I didn't need meds, plus I have two friends that have had the same surgery, and they're in wheelchairs for life. So, do what you need to do. I don't recommend method. clinic been down that road it is worse to come off of that anything, I used to do 5 oxy 80's a day, so believe me its a rough way to go. Good luck all my bros and sis's.

Pain medication is needed to survive for anyone who suffers severe unrelenting pain. Haven't you seen how many people are committing suicide because of pain due to lack of proper pain care? Pain is the number reason why someone sees a doctor. It's the 5th vital sign. So why doesn't a human being have a right to quality of life? Every time I read comments that are due to pain and AL, I read ignorance. Opioid pain medications are legal for anyone who suffers legitimate pain, acute or chronic. Stand up and speak for your rights!

If poster #136 thinks natural suppliments like kratom , ginseng and others are going to relieve severe pain? There is slim possibility that may but for the majority it's not going to do the trick. Besides, kratom is being outlawed in many states and that is spreading. It only helps a small amount people anyway. Opioids were put on this earth since the beginning of time by our God and for centuries it has been used for severe to moderate pain. Until Alabama pain patients stand up, organize and fight for your rights? You are going to be suffering needlessly. Start a face group, organize together with a group of like minded patients, caregivers and health care providers and start standing up for your rights and possibly your life! Florida advocates have the news involved and doing a 30 minute story on how a fake prescription pill epidemic has caused legitimate pain patients to end up being collateral damage to this failed drug war. The DEA gets to seize from whom they decide to rape, they get to keep everything they confiscate for themselves. They are who are causing a fake shortage of pain medicine and causing doctors so much fear to treat REAL pain! Also you can join SPPAN who is affiliate to American Academy of Pain Management and bring your organized group to them. They can help you to support or oppose laws in your state that effect pain care. I really hate to hear that AL is going down the tubes too in the area pain care. Don't allow it to happen to your state! You can fight this and BEAT it! Good Luck!

Do you know that you can make up your own mixture of natural supplements to take care of whatever level of pain you may have? There are also things you can do to aid your body in not enduring the withdrawal symptoms. These are natural based and you determine how often and how much you want to take, not the docs or FDA! Take back control of your own health! I can help show you how to get back in the control seat!

fed up w govt, call your state medical board and ask them how you can obtain your medical records. There should be some type of message on their phone, note on the door or there may be an ad in your local newpaper regarding the practice closing. Also ask the medical board if that dr is still licensed to practice medicine. You can also google the drs name.

I went to my last neurologist appointment and the office was closed. Have been on low dose opiods for 7 yrs. No access to records for new doc. Where are the ethics of these highly paid, hypocratic oath swearing people we trust w our lives? Interested in your petition. I do not get a high from meds just able to live.

It seems all conversation on this thread is about everything EXCEPT pain care and who needs help with finding doctor! How horrible!
Isn't there any doctors in that town who isn't apart of some huge money making, shot jockey, out fitters? There has to be some private pain doctors who really care about patients and not about needles. Unless Alabama has turned into Florida. Every state is trying to go over board with cutting out pain care! When are Alabamians and their doctors going to stand up for the suffering? UNREAL!

Health care in America is twice as expensive as in any other country. America's quality of health care puts us at 37th from the top as far as quality of care goes. The notion that people come to America for health care is waaaay outdated. The number one nation for quality of health care is France; NOT the USA. May have been at one time, but no more. Gotta get past the old data and move on. What Obama gave us is NOT socialized health care. What he gave us is more profitable health insurance companies, and is making us pay to make them more profitable. France, among the many, like Israel, and the U.K. DOES have socialized medicine, and it is way far cheaper for much better care than what we now get in the U.S. I have a friend who lives in the U.K. I asked her how much the British government takes from her every month to cover her monthly premium for health care. Her payment each month? 15 British Pounds, or in the US equivalent, her health care costs her about $26 U.S. Dollars each month. No co-pays, no deductibles, no other expenses. She takes her national health care card to the doctor or the pharmacy, shows it, and is given treatment or medication. She never has to fill out a single form, or pay anything other than that $26 per month premium. Same thing in France, Israel, Germany...on and on. We are getting seriously ripped off and lied to in the good old USA as far as health care goes.

I wonder if DocSkep has went through withdraws himself since he sounds so knowledgable of what is will be like for every person here. Makes it sounds like a walk in the park. I'm sorry but I would have to believe if that this DocSkep truly has ALS? That he is not sitting and suffering in pain and does take meds for it. I would bet that he wouldn't want to have to stop his meds if his pain is really as bad as he says it is. Sorry.. friend. I don't buy it. Withdraws for any pain patient that are forced into it, can be fatal. BP can get out of control along with heart rate. I feel that was such a BS bogus post. Come on now.. if your having pain like child birth, your not going to be able to live right withdraw. Nope. That was spammer folks. Pain that is severe requires medications and you as a free American have rights to have your pain controlled. Look up the Pain Patients Bill of Rights! It does exist.

Obama has turned a seriously flawed medical system to something that is LESS affordable for many many people. Who in their correct mind would allow Nancy Pelosi preside over this anyway? She has pushed socialized medicine for years. Does it work? Sometimes....but slots of folks who have money come to the USA for surgeries. Like...why?..it it is so wonderful. Sorry....Obama is so Socialist leanings....it scares me. But...the pill docs brought the wrath upon themselves by not using a balanced approach.

First of all, I have ALS and suffer unbearable pain in my legs and torso from involuntary and relentless myoclonic spasms. The closest I can relate this pain to something many women is contractions suffered during childbirth. You cannot control them or will them to stop, nor can anything you do much except endure the suffering.

When you are suffering labor pain, you at least know that the pain will eventually stop and all the agony your body just went through is forgotten as you gaze into the miracle you just created.

Now, double that pain, make the spasms of indeterminate length and intensity, and try to ignore it or function in any way possible besides exercising your vocal chords from screaming. Now introduce medicine that can alleviate this pain, and tell me who in their right mind would refuse this medication? As time goes on and your body becomes used to a certain amount, and more is needed for the same affect. Nobody is a "bad" person for trying to alleviate terrible pain. Quite the opposite. We go through the days intentionally avoiding pain. It's instinct and how we survive. Without pain, we wouldn't last long because we would have no indication that we were in peril.

Now jump forward years and let's say you want to stop taking meds because they have found a better, perhaps non-addictive way to treat your pain. You stop a very high level of narcotics. And here is where you are simply wrong, and passing on bogus information.

The withdrawal symptoms from hydrocodone, oxycodone and other fast acting opiates is no where near months. At most, you will be very sick and uncomfortable between 5-8 days, the peak around day 3. It is akin to having a bad stomach flu. You will have the runs (take immodium), and you will probably throw up. You will sweat, have anxiety, depression, and lack of energy. Basically you will be sick. Big deal! Haven't you had the flu before? Is it uncomfortable? Yes. Are the symptoms treatable? Yes, just do the best you can, feel crappy for a few days and move on. The reason you are quitting doesn't concern me, it is like smoking. Hard to do? Yep? Harmful to quit? No, quite the opposite. Your brain needs to recover from suddenly stopping it's ability to produce endorphins naturally. It will be highly uncomfortable, but as a presumably logical adult, you know what's coming and just tough it out. 3 days, and if you go on some short walks, swim, stretch, use your body (we were meant to move as humans, not lie around crying about a lost pill).

So the short acting opioid w/d will peak around day 3-4, and you can prepare yourself to be sick. Some adult addicts are way more babyish about it than the avg 10 year old. Psychologically, you will feel unhappy because you've temporarily used up the extra endorphins you've been flooding your brain with to manage pain. You will crave opiates. Reasons seem obvious so will leave it there. You crave cigs when you quit. Just remind yourself why you want to stop pain meds. Maybe sick of a pill controlling your life? Worrying about running out too soon? Not working for your pain? Hurting relationships and losing trust? List goes on.

Okay, now what pissed me off was the claim that withdrawal from oxycontin can be fatal. ABSURD! What is far more dangerous is accidentally ODING from said drug. W/D are not fatal. Uncomfortable, well of course!! Fatal, NO!! Stop spreading lies. It is easy to research. The ONLY fatalities that happen are the opposite - when someone takes too much. Please, don't let people scare you from stopping if that is your goal. Man up, be sick for a week, and move on.

Think about it. Lots of ppl are hospital every years, wks or months at a time after major surgery. They get used to 3 mg morphine or dilaudid every 4 hours to zip at home. They usually feel sick from w/d without even knowing. 3 days later they are fine. Just use your brains.

I'm talking bout the Tennessee valley pain clinic it's not worth crap. They gave me a block in my back didn't last 2 days, they gave me another one, I ended up in the hospital with a bad infection they tried to say I failed a drug panel after they didn't send it out for a few days so I won that. It was never ending with them but they had me on high dosage of medicine so nobody can say they don't prescribe it b cos the do. I've had over 30 surgeries n I don't have no withdrawals off any medicine n I've been on strong meds for a long time n can stop when I want. It's will power. If u have withdrawals, then ur addicted n need to come off the meds anyway.
