Doctors Who Prescribe Methadone (Page 17)

I am addicted to strong pain meds and I am tired of having to come off of them, the withdrawal is awful. I went to a urgent care doc and was prescribed suboxone. I take anxiety meds too but he wants me to stop. I really need the anxiety meds but he wants me off them. How do I get him to change it from suboxone to methadone so I can take my anxiety meds?

My heart goes out to you. All of you. I live with Chronic Pain from Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Herniated and Bulging disks. It's no doubt a struggle. Back when the "Pill Mills" were everywhere in Florida it wasn't a problem getting pain medication, but when the hammer came down, I knew there was going to be an Epidemic. I went to my Psychiatrist and told him everything I was taking. He gave me Suboxone and Subutex so I could have a choice. I was also prescribed Xanax 2 mg. for Anxiety and P.T.S.D. DCF was going to take my children away at that time and I told him I was going cold turkey. He was O.K. with me going without the Suboxone or Subutex. He told me to use them if I had to. He told me it was" Against Medical Advice" to go off of the Xanax. I did it anyway. I rock and rolled, seizing, vomiting, dehydration because of my electrolytes were off balance but I wanted my children more. After I got my children back, teenagers BTW, he put me back on Xanax, 2mg.T.I.D. I'm allergic to Lyrica and Gabapentin. I take 60 mg. B.I.D. for depression and the Fibromyalgia but it doesn't help the Firomyalgia at all. He told me beforehand that it wouldn't help with the Fibro because he was in charge of the studies when they were doing trials. Meanwhile I have been Opiate free but the R.A. is killing me. My surgeon gives me Cortisone shots but he told me bottom line I need knee replacements. I have to put it on hold because I will need a health coach and I also live in a two story home on a Disability income. Both my Primary and my surgeon told me that I need to go to a pain control specialist but everyone I called in Broward County are Anesthesiologists and getting Epidurals will not help with the R.A. in my knees and body. We have been working so hard to get Cannabis Legalized here, but that will take forever. I try smoking but apparently I'm not getting the right strains or the pain is just too much. My blood pressure is always high even though I take 3 different ones because severe pain raises your blood pressure. I'm sorry I'm venting, I'm just really frustrated with these invisible illnesses even though my blood work and X-Rays substantiate my condition. All of the Doctors think you are "drug seeking" or an addict if you ask for help. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I feel your pain, literally I have many of the same problems you report. If smoking the marijuana does not help your pain don't smoke it, take it orally. You must cook it into something with butter, or a lipid of some type. It will take a half hour to an hour to kick in but you should feel some relief. Good luck. Maybe there is a "compassion club" you could join, they provide medical marijuana and often operate anonymously.

Wrong. I have been on methadone and Xanax for over 15 years now prescribed by two different pain docs. After the first one retired the second took over my care and I get methadone and Xanax. No problems.

no suboxon is not the same has methadone i have taken both and i can not take suboxon sorry typing in the simi dark but i take the suboxon i get sick but the methadone im fine on methadone is stronger then suboxon i was on ( we call it bupi here ) for 3 years and i started getting the with drawls back i been on methadone 5 years and im still at the same dose well im being tapered not to happy about it im being taken off to fast 10 mg every week and the doctors not listening to me but i did much better on the methadone

If that's in fact true I'd love to know the state and protocol you profess to be in since Any ONE prescriber concurrently writing Xanax and methadone would be something most regulators would be very interested in learning about. Most people in most places find it difficult to find a LEGIT LICENSED PHYSCIAN TO PRESCRIBE EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER. You must be a very special patient to receive an exception to this new standard protocol. If so why don't you share that information with the millions of folks suffering the true symptoms of chronic pain and unrelenting anxiety from panic attacks. It's so sad when some post irrelevant non valid information to make other legit sufferers feel unworthy of that same treatment.....,,

I have been on methadone for 15 years first in pain management then and now in a clinic for addiction. You van not be on any type of benzo and get methadone at a clinic. It is a program and no other drugs are allowed. Of course meds that are needed but not benzos. At pain management I had friends that were prescribed xanax with opiates but usually by a cash doctor. Methadone and xanax or other benzos can and has killed a lot if people that why they don't allow it.

Why would u try them all again if they didn't work previously? So sick of people wanting, deeming for so called pain pills, but not used for your addiction problem. I'm tired of people talking s*** about addicts. Like you said, if i was an addict, if be a happy girl??? You were happy till u ran out, and you are an addict, so don't down urself. But you're a closet addict.

Your not supposed to take them with methadone it is very hard to get a doctor to change there minds once it's made up in tthough I was see3a doctor and come to find out it was only a nurse and she just yanked me off my methadone I'm sicker then helll

Looking for a doctor who will prescribe methadone for pain in either Skagit or Whatcom or Snohomish Counties. Any ideas out there besides the methadone clinic which is supposed to be strictly for addiction?

That's bull. My doctor prescribed me methadone and benzodiazepines for my anxiety and my chronic pain. He is not a quack he is one of the top 200 anesthesiologists in the country and is licensed in addictive medicine substance abuse and chronic pain you just need to find the right doctor.

I have been taking methadone for a few years for pain only. I tried suboxone and it mad me very sick plus it did nothing for my pain. I went one month for my reg Dr's appt and I was in so much pain I was crying and that's when he stopped the suboxone and started me on hydrocodone. Well pain meds helped my pain, but I felt stoned all the time and once again I never once cheated and/or abused my meds, so the next month I walked in his office and to my wonderful surprise he wrote me a script for methadone. I almost passed out I was so happy bc i knew my whole life was about to change and it has for the better. I take maybe two every four hours and I wish just once I mean once if a doctor would try the two pain pills like lortab which does help my pain, but not my mental state which at that point the anxiety worked great with methadone and also changed my DEEP dark place I used to be in, but my depression was a bit better. Not gone but lighter, so there's the difference. It's so unbelievable these Dr's won't ever understand unless they try it. I have read on the internet that your primary physician can order methadone for pain; a certain amount for pain only and God only knows how great that is. And I also think we have to have evaluations done at least to show our pain is real. So if there's any doctors in my Albany area that will take me as a patient for methadone please help me. I can't go backwards with all my pain cause nothing in this world takes all my dam pain away except penathol lol, seriously.

They took me off my anxiety meds even with the methadone. The mixture can be fatal.

Even methadone docs don't want you on benzos, and no doc will prescribe methadone anymore you have to actually go to a methadone clinic

Hi, I hope that someone here can help me. I desperately need to find a private physician in Utah that prescribes Methadone for pain management, specifically for cluster headaches. I've been on methadone for 17 years and my doctor was forced to relinquish his control substance license in October 2016 by the state medical board. I've been searching for a new doctor since. I am currently going to a methadone clinic and paying $100.00 a week for the medication. I don't know how much longer I can afford to do this. My doctor has sent referrals (for all of his patients) out to every pain management center in the state, all of whom have turned me away. I had one clinic tell me they WILL NOT take any of HIS patients. I've been a model patient, not once, not ever, abused my medication. I am NOT an addict. I was told by the doc at the clinic I am currently going to that I don't belong there. He told me to find a primary care doctor, not a pain clinic. But it's not like I can just call a doctors office and ask the receptionist if this is something they do?? I'm not on a high dose, it's very low in fact. Prior to finding methadone I had tried everything for these headaches. Some medications had worse side effects than the headaches themselves, and caused other problems. Methadone works, and it works better than anything else out there for cluster and migraine headaches. According to the doctor at this methadone clinic, who is a neck/spine specialist, it's been miracle drug for people like me. I really don't want to schedule 400 appointments and see 399 doctors until I find the ONE doctor that is willing to help me. I don't even know where to start. I can't go see my old doc to ask for his advice. I wish I could, he is an amazing, compassionate and caring doctor. The entire thing makes me sick. It shouldn't have happened. So, if anyone knows of a private primary care physician in the Salt Lake City area, I am willing to drive as far as necessary, that prescribes methadone for pain management, please please let me know. I do not know the status of kratom in the States but it is approved as an herbal remedy by Health Canada. It is awesome for both pain relief and anxiety. It is readily available in Canada and as a former methadone paitient who was also on benzodiazepams for PTSD and chronic pain for many years, it is amazing to find an herbal remedy that totally helps with both problems. It does NOT work well with antidepressants BUT it has an awesome antidepressant effect so you would not need antidepressants when taking it. It is cheap and you do not need a doctor to perscribe it.
